It is your responsibility to annually view the contents ofthe handbook. We educate our students through in-ring and all aspects of production and broadcast within which the students develop the moral, ethical and professional competencies for successful living, work, leadership and service to others. We achieve these goals in an educational environment committed to excellence, academic freedom, and authentic conversations not dominated by particular political or other narrow perspectives. Here we seek to foster thoughtful informed consideration of serious ideas, values and issues- time honored and contemporary, across a broad range of compelling concerns that are regional, national and international. By these means, Al Snow's Wrestling Academy is Sports Entertainment & Broadcasting seeks to benefit the public interest, to help create the future and to further the art of physical storytelling, otherwise known as Pro-Wrestling/Sports Entertainment. HISTORY Al Snow's Wrestling Academy began in Lima, Ohio in 1990 by our founder former WWE Superstar Al Snow. ASWA was established to continue the techniques and traditions of the art of professional wrestling . In a very short amount of time the academy was attracting students from all over the world and turning out notable students such as Brian Heffron / The Blue Meanie ,former NWA world heavyweight champion and UFC hall of Famer Dan Severen, ROH's Truth Martini and many more. In 2004 in association with WWE Al Snow brought and integrated Al Snow's philosophies and style of teaching and training into the WWE developmental territory of OVW. This lead to WWE superstars such as CM Punk, Ryback, The Miz, Beth Phoenix, Santino Morella, John Morrison, Bobby Lashley and many more. Al Snow and WWE would sever ties with OVW in 2009 but Al would come back in 2011 creating a developmental system for TNA/lmpact Wrestling and reinstating the Al Snow's Wrestling Academy once again in conjunction with OVW. This partnership spawned numerous TNA Stars such as Lei D Tapa, Rockstar Spud, Jesse Godderz and many more. As the partnership with TNA/OVW was drawing to a close Al Snow began a worldwide expansion of academies all across the U.K., Europe, the Middle East and South America. This expansion continues to grow and is building a network of academies where a student may be able to get a plethora of experience and knowledge to truly prepare themselves for any opportunity that present itself on a worldwide stage. This network of academies required a strong operational base and in 2018 Al Snow along with Chad Miller and Joe Reeves purchased OVW from founder and owner/operator Danny Davis. With this base and worldwide network the trio created the Al Snow's Wrestling Academy of Sports Entertainment and broadcasting. Keeping the same goal of continuing the techniques and traditions of the art of professional wrestling, along with all facets of sports entertainment and broadcasting. This insuring a well-rounded performer, producer or writer. Who can more fully take advantage of all the possible opportunities that present themselves in Professional Wrestling, Sports Entertainment and Broadcasting. OVW0157 RIGHTS & RESPONSIBILITIES Each member of a community is guaranteed certain rights. Like-wise, each member has responsibilities to that community. ASWASSE has established certain rights as well as rules and regulations to promote the orderly conduct of its educational programs. Each new student entering the School is expected to read and refer to the most current version of academic and student conduct policies as published in this handbook and/or in the Course Catalog. As a private educational institution, ASWASSE is committed to educating its students academically, encouraging their personal development, and promoting their welfare. The School community can best perform its educational mission when students share with other members of the community the responsibility for orderly conduct. Student conduct policies and practices are concerned not only with protecting the safety and wellbeing of the campus, but also with assuring that each student's rights are recognized. In order to ensure the protection of the rights of the student, the School adheres to certain recognized reporting and appeals procedures. CAMPUS POLICIES & SERVICES LEGAL NAME CHANGES A legal name change on institutional records may be made upon the production of evidence showing the name has been officially changed, accompanied by a written request from the student. A certified copy of a court order, a marriage certificate, or a dissolution decree reflecting the new name in full are examples of the evidence required to support an official name change. Minor changes in name can be made without a court order at the discretion of the Registrar (for example, spelling corrections or revisions). In these instances, the student must provide documentation such as current driver's license with photo. Social Security card, or resident alien card. Huron St. Chicago, IL 60611 1.800.545.2433 x4390 [email protected] Overview of YALSA’s WrestleMania Reading Challenge Background: Ever since Teen Read Week (TRW) was inaugurated in 1998, many librarians and educators have wanted to celebrate and encourage teen reading for more than just one week a year. In response to requests from librarians, the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), with the support of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), now offers librarians and educators the opportunity to participate in YALSA’s WrestleMania Reading Challenge. Goal: To reach reluctant readers and get more tweens and teens reading by implementing a reading incentive program that provides prizes from WWE as a reward. YALSA’s WrestleMania Reading Challenge is a program designed to encourage tweens and teens to not only continue their reading beyond TRW, but to earn a reward for doing so by offering chances to win prizes donated by WWE. This is a win-win situation for librarians and educators because it provides you with a way to extend TRW, an opportunity to reach out to reluctant readers and the chance to win $2,000 for your library.
