Sunday, May 26 West Mountain, Pawling, NY (Joint with WTA)

9 miles, moderate with one steep climb. The Appalachian Trail goes over two West Mountains in , and our leader (also West) will guide us along the less-frequented routes of the current and former A.T. in Pawling. The hike includes a visit to Nuclear Lake, so-called because of a rumor in the 1970's that the site was contaminated with radioactive waste. The rumor proved to be untrue. A lakeside trail was opened years ago, and no glowing hikers have been seen to date. For meeting time or information, contact leader Eileen West via email at [email protected] . Rain cancels.

Beautiful views from summit of Black Mt. Monday, May 27 L to R: Margaret Freifeld, Pat Johnston, Steve Ward Pound Ridge Reservation Rocks Trail Klepner, Jane Restani and Cathy Cresko (Joint with WTA)

This will be a 7- mile, moderate hike on the Rocks Trail. Appropriate footwear, lunch and sufficient water are required. To register, contact Carol Harting at 845-669-6731. If it is very hot, we can always adjust the hike to accommodate the weather. Photos from our x-country ski weekend in the Berkshires. See--we just don’t hike!!!
