Licensing and Ordering

HP E-Delivery ordering E-Delivery definition - The product is delivered in the form of an e-mail which allows you to download the software code (eMedia) and/or receive the License-To-Use (LTU) document and access to the license key. E-Delivery products are available worldwide, excluding Japan

To place an order, please refer to the E-Delivery product number column and order the applicable eDelivery -Media kit and/or E-LTU. When a license product is ordered, the LTU will be replaced with E- LTU in the product description.

License to use (LTU)  MAP" = Managed Access Port Definitions  "MAL" = Managed Application License specific to a software application, database, node, instance or server: o SE Application Viewers (includes SE File System Viewer) . Oracle Database . IBM Informix Database . Sybase Database . Microsoft SQL 2005 & 2008 Server . Microsoft Exchange 2003 & 2007 Server o SE NAS Manager o SE Backup Manager  “CC User” = Concurrent User Used by SE Report Optimizer to enable custom/ad-hoc reporting, licensed by the amount of simultaneous users. Report editing and custom report generation capabilities will require a minimum purchase of 1 CC User license.  "Array" Used by SE Performance Pack & SE Performance Pack Enterprise plug-ins. Each LTU will enable performance monitoring of a single supported storage device distinguished by name and serial number. The following details how to determine the number of MAP licenses required: Interconnect devices:  Add up the number of GBIC/SFPs installed in the fabric switches. For a fully populated switch (i.e., all blades are installed and all ports in all blades have SFPs installed), all ports are counted towards MAPs total. Example: A Fibre Channel switch with 64 ports containing SFP will consume 1 MAP per port totaling to 64 MAPs.  For NPiV only the physical ports are counted for the fabric switch.

NOTE: If no interconnect devices are discovered; count the number of ports in the storage infrastructure and managed hosts

Storage Infrastructure  All managed storage device controller ports count (for example SMI-S or an API is used to discover the device). Example: If the storage device has 8 Fibre Channel (FC) ports, it will count as 8 MAPs. NOTE: The number of MAPs counted for a storage device is typically specific to FC ports, however in certain cases all physical connections, independent of protocol, including FC, SCSI,

ESCON, FICON, Ethernet, or Gigabyte Ethernet.  HP StoreVirtual (P4000/LhN) - Cluster nodes are counted as 1 MAP each, iSCSI initiators are counted as 1 MAP each.  HP StoreAll (X9000/IBRIX)- Each file server node/segment server is counted as 10 MAPs.  HP StoreOnce (B6200) - Each node is counted as 5 MAPs.  EMC Isilon – Each node is counted as 5 MAPs

NOTE: A generic storage device placeholder is not managed and therefore does not consume MAPs.

Managed Hosts  A SAN attached server discovered via CIM Extension will count each FC Host Bus Adapter (HBA) port as 1 MAP. Example: A dual ported HBA will count as 2 MAPs.  A standalone server with no FC HBA discovered via CIM Extension will count as 1 MAP  A Windows server discovered agentlessly via WMI will count as 1 MAP minimum or 1 MAP per FC HBA port.  A Linux server discovered agentlessly via SSH will count as 1 MAP minimum or 1 MAP per FC HBA port.  VMware hypervisors (VMware ESX servers) discovered agentlessly will be treated as physical servers and count 1 MAP min or 1 MAP per FC HBA port. Example, 5 ESX servers with 2 dual ported HBAs counts as 10 MAPs (5*2=10)

Note: VMware Gust OS running VMTools are discovered automatically by default.

 Each VMware Virtual Machine Guest OS discovered automatically via VMTools with will count as 1 MAP.  Each VMware Virtual Machine Guest OS discovered directly via WMI (Windows) or SSH (Linux), or CIM Extension will count as 1 MAP.

NOTE: A VMware Virtual Machine Guest OS discovery via VMTools, and subsequently discovered via agentless WMI or CIM Extension counts as only 1 MAP.

NOTE: A generic host object container or rule-based inferred host are not managed hosts and therefore do not count against MAPs.

The following details how to determine the number of MAL licenses required Standalone Applications SE Application Viewer for managed Databases, Exchange Servers and File System Viewer  Microsoft Exchange Server instance An Exchange Server that hosts many mailboxes requires 1 Application Viewer MAL.  Oracle Database instances 1 unique Oracle Database instance (SID) serving an Oracle database requires 1 Application Viewer MAL.  Microsoft SQL Database instances 1 MS SQL Instance which may contain many databases underneath requires 1 Application Viewer MAL.  A managed host enabled for File System Viewer collection against one or more local, SAN or

network volumes requires 1 Application Viewer MAL.

NOTE: Manually defined “Virtual Applications” created for use in SE Chargeback Manager do not consume MALs.

SE NAS Manager  1 NAS Manager MAL for each NetApp, EMC Celerra or EMC Centera physical node NOTE: NetApp devices support a built-in “Performance Pack” functionality automatically enabled via NAS Manager MAL. SE Backup Manager  1 Backup Manager MAL per Master Server or Cell Manager. NOTE: A Data Protector Cell Manager discovered via SE Backup Manager MAL will not count any MAPs.

Clustered Applications  Oracle, Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Exchange failover clusters 1 Application Viewer MAL per application/database instance. Example: An MS Exchange Instance running on a 3 node failover cluster requires 1 Application Viewer MAL.  1 MS Exchange Application Instance Example: An MS Exchange Server cluster that hosts many mailboxes requires 1 Application Viewer MAL.  Oracle RAC requires 1 MAL per RAC instance Example: An 10 instance Oracle RAC serving a single database requires 10 Application Viewer MALs

HP Storage Essentials  Licensed by the amount of users that simultaneously use the software at any one point in Report Optimizer time for custom/ad-hoc reporting purposes. Software Concurrent User

Licensing based on a per Array basis (for Performance Pack Plug-ins):

Array LTU licensing is determined by the count of multivendor arrays concurrently monitored. For example, if you have 1 supported array you wish to monitor in your Storage Area Network; all you need is 1 - Array LTU. You can also move a license from one supported array to another. For example, the customer has 4 arrays, but only 2 LTUs. However in this scenario you can only collect performance data, without interruption, on the licensed arrays. If you move a license around from a monitored array, you will not collect historical data on unlicensed arrays; therefore you will have gaps in your historical data (data for unlicensed arrays is preserved based on default retention schedule and will be available when a license is re-applied to a given storage array) . For some customers this is acceptable; for a customer who prefers a complete real-time and historical performance history then you want to have 1-Array LTU per storage system. The same logic applies to both HP Storage Essentials Performance Pack and HP Storage Essentials Performance Pack Enterprise software LTUs.
