Hurling may be the quintessential Irish game but a shortage of ash has meant that most of the raw material is imported from Poland. Energise Sport Camogie All-Star Awards, in association with O’Neill’s

When Ciarán Carey was appointed manager of the Limerick camogie team for 2007, hopes were high that he could lead the team to success. However, even the most optimistic Limerick supporter could hardly have foreseen the story that unfolded. An impressive National League campaign culminated in victory over arch rivals, Cork in the final at , Kilkenny by 1-14 to 0-5. This was Limerick’s first ever national success in the senior grade. But it doesn’t end there. Ciarán and his squad set their sights on the Gala Senior Championship. On September 30th, Niamh Mulcahy stepped up to take a long-range free in the final against Cork in the Gaelic Grounds. It was the last puck of the match and she needed to score to save Limerick from defeat. With unerring accuracy, she sent the ball between the posts and one week later, Limerick travelled to Páirc Uí Rinn (Cork) for the replay. There was no need for last minute frees as Limerick marched to victory by 2-9 to 0-6. Limerick’s success did not go unnoticed as three Limerick players were nominated for All-Star honours, while Ciarán himself was short-listed for All-Star Manager of the Year. On the big night Rose Collins was chosen on the Energise Sport All-Star team (in association with O’Neill’s), while Niamh Mulcahy was named as Young Player of the Year. G&W
