Turtles, trees, flowers, snakes, ducks, alligators and other nature scenes have found their ways into the Balogh Studio Pottery exhibit. Christa and Janos Balogh are the featured artists and they enjoy in- corporating nature into their works. Balogh Studio is a family co-op at the lake and the artists produce artisan pottery items in small batch firings. Their works are hand thrown, painted, glazed and fired on-site in a process that takes an average of three weeks from start to finish. Their artistry and atten- tion to detail allow them to create unique gifts, practi- cal for everyday use or as lasting pieces of art to enjoy. The pottery is food-safe, microwave and dishwasher safe and contains no lead. The well-designed exhibit includes mugs, face jugs, vases and bowls by Christa, and Janos’ knick-knack or- naments that focus on angels, turtles and gators. A tall black and white vase with a face, mustache and hat is called a “Miska,” a Hungarian term. The exhibit will remain in the library for a few more weeks and most of the pieces are for sale.
