I am sincerely grateful to the efforts of everyone who has helped contribute to the making of this Plan which is so important for the future of Powys. Importantly, the Plan sets out a clear and strong strategy for meeting the future needs of the county’s communities over the next decade. By focussing development on our market towns and largest villages, it provides the direction and certainty to support investment and enable economic opportunities to be seized, to grow and support viable service centres and for housing development to accommodate our growing and changing household needs. At the same time the Plan provides the protection for our outstanding and important natural, built and cultural environments that make Powys such an attractive and special place in which to live, work, visit and enjoy. August has been a rather stressful time for the young people awaiting the results of their A Level and GCSE exams – I remember the feeling well even if it was a few years ago! Hearty congratulations to all who have gained the grades they wanted and for those who didn’t – don’t give up, put it behind you and try again. We remember all our young people in our prayers as they each follow their own paths and work toward their own goals. May they be assured of God’s presence in their lives and that His love for them, come what may, will never fail. You will notice another change to the magazine this month as we continue our own journey to become as one in our Ministry Area. The rota's of readers, sides’ persons and the altar guild for St Peter’s Church, Machynlleth will no longer be printed in the maga- zine as they have no relevance to the rest of the Ministry Area. Each person on the rota's, however, will be given a list of the dates relevant to them for the year. A list will also be displayed in the porch of St Peter’s and in church. The magazine is not only a good way of communicating within the Ministry Area but also an excellent means of mission to the wider community. -

S T R A Y S Volume One: !'IARRIAGES Introduction This volume of 'stray' marriages is published with the hope that it will prove of some value as an additional source for the familv historian. For economic reasons, the 9rooms' names only are listed. Often people married many miles from their own parishes and sometimes also away from the parish of the spouse. Tracking down such a 'stray marriage' can involve fruitless and dishearteninq searches and may halt progress for many years. - Included here are 'strays', who were married in another parish within the county of Powys, or in another county. There are also a few non-Powys 'strays' from adjoining counties, particularly some which may be connected with Powys families. For those researchers puzzled and confused by the thought of dealing with patronymics, when looking for their Welsh ancestors, a few are to be found here and are ' indicated by an asterisk. A simple study of these few examples may help in a search for others, although it must be said, that this is not so easy when the father's name is not given. I would like to thank all those members who have helped in anyway with the compilation of this booklet. A second collection is already in progress; please· send any contributions to me. Summary 1.1 This is the Powys County Council Land Availability Study (JHLAS) for 2016 which presents the housing land supply for the area at the base date of 1st April 2016. It replaces the report for the previous base date of 2015. 1.2 The JHLAS has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of Planning Policy Wales (PPW) and Technical Advice Note 1 (TAN 1). Owen, BVSc Hons, DVR, DipACVS, FRCVS Preface This proof of evidence is presented on behalf of the above bodies because it is abundantly clear to them that a direct consequence of the proposed wind farm developments presently being considered by the Public Inquiry has to include the National Grid 400kV line, otherwise the wind farms would not be functional. Therefore the National Grid 400kV line is a relevant and significant part of this whole infrastructure project and needs to be considered by the inquiry. Hence the reason for this submission which is to discuss the cumulative consequences of these Wind Farm projects on our communities. February 2014. A.
