“ ‘Delicious’ because my two-year-old Leadership Institute Gets Cooking daughter just learned how to say Taranta Restaurant in Boston’s North End was the scene of a unique that word!” Italian culinary experience on November 30, 2011, when 15 dentists traded in their scrubs for aprons at the MDS Leadership Institute team-building cooking competition. This evening out provided an opportunity for the program’s participants to set their leadership skills in action. Leadership Institute participants were divided into teams that worked together to create a culinary masterpiece from scratch. The evening culminated in a delectable fi ve-course meal. Through this interactive program, the Leadership Institute participants discovered how to achieve their objectives by working as a cohesive team through effective communication, planning, and leadership. This challenge required full focus, openness to constructive criticism, cooperation, outside-the-box thinking, and, most impor- tantly, teamwork. Norman F. Rogers, DDS Since the MDS Leadership Institute’s inception in 2006, more than Methuen 80 dentists have completed the program, which includes four half-day “Family.” leadership development sessions and one team-building event, such as this one at Taranta.
