From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.

Stratovarius made their fi rst tour on 1994, after releasing their 3rd album Dreamspace. Their tour headed only to Japan where they had 4 shows and they felt that they should have some merchandise to sell there so they printed Dreamspace cover-t-shirts with Japanese Tourdates (all 4) printed on the backside. That was the beginning of our Stratovarius Merchandising. 2004 will be our 10th year in the merchandise business!!! Soon after that became Fourth Dimension album and the same pattern repeated. One T-shirt motiv with the cover of the album on front and tour- dates (this time more than 4) on back. We can say that Stratovarius Mer- chandising took a giant step forward on 1995 when Jörg Michael became the member of Stratovarius. Not only did he bring his unique and talented musicianmanship to the band, but also his vast experties on merchandise business. And from the Episode album on, we've had the pleasure of sell- ing very high quality merchandise with a different motivs. We've had different kind of products over the years and not all of them have been shirts. Neclases, rings, caps, cups, stickers, lighters etc. have been a part of our Merchandise line and the future is open for new prod- ucts. Let's see what kind of merchandise we will bring to you in the future. Our fi rst webshop saw the light of day on 1998 and in the beginning of 2003 we released our latest version of Stratoshop and E-kauppa.
