Absolutely incredible book!By Kiran KelkarI've had a passion for the martial arts since I was a kid, and I've read so many different books that glorify everything good about the arts and their predecessors while completely glossing over the deficiencies of the styles and the practitioners. Sensei Hassell does neither, he illustrates a very clear picture of the "murky waters" through which the Shotokan style has traveled and the way it has been changed and adapted. The political in-fighting is both dirty and told with startling clarity. Sensei Hassell clearly doesn't attempt to take sides, and just tells it as it is. I highly recommend reading this book, whether or not you are a Shotokan practitioner!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy Robin J. A good surpriseBy ErasmoWhen I started reading the book I thought it was another book like any other, but as I read I realized that the book was very well handled, with a deep research about the topic. Certainly there is much to learn by reading this book. It was a pleasant surprise, with a reading light and pleasant.
