These posts represent one replacement and one new post within the W&C Directorate and are based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, a large teaching hospital in the Greater Glasgow & Clyde Health Board. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates. The inpatient Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department is in a single tower on the Glasgow Royal Infirmary site: the Princess Royal Maternity building. You will join a team of 21 consultants in a department that provides a comprehensive service including regional subspecialties (Assisted Conception and Oncology). The Gynaecology department is one of the largest in the UK. The current regional gynaecology oncology service is led by four subspecialists based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Expansion to five consultant posts takes into account the regional cancer model and referral patterns. The consultants will work in a collaborative way to maximise available theatre capacity and minimise patient waiting times working in tandem with the well established multidisciplinary team (MDT) and clinical network which includes Medical Oncologists, Radiologists with special interests, Specialist Nurses, Plastic Surgery and allied services. The Oncology Department is integrated within the Gynaecology service. There is no obstetric component to this post other than the potential to offer surgical support when on-call in complex cases, particularly intractable haemorrhage or complex reproductive tract trauma. There are approximately 6,500 deliveries per year at Princess Royal Maternity. The hospital services an area with significant challenges in terms of deprivation and co- morbidity. The new consultant will be expected to positively contribute to meeting the needs of patients with complex medical and social problems. The consultant will contribute to the gynaecology rota only. There is a consultant delivered emergency gynaecology service (daytime, weekdays). The consultant will be expected to provide Colposcopy and Outpatient diagnostic skills relevant to screening and diagnosis of cancer. Experience in gynaecology ultrasound is welcome however training will be available if necessary. The department has close links with the Academic Department of O&G and has the postgraduate and research facilities one would expect. Due to retirement within the department we are looking to appoint a full time Consultant in Paediatric Anaesthesia. The successful candidate will be on a full time 10PA contract with responsibilities to general theatres at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children. The on-call commitment for this post is 1: 10, providing cover for general emergencies at RHSC. Any new appointment would be expected to participate in the additional on-call arrangements. There are no responsibilities to the PICU or to Cardiac Surgery. There is an expectation that the successful candidate would contribute to the Paediatric Chronic Pain Service. Training in Chronic Pain would be provided if required. The successful candidate will work along side 17 other Consultant Anaesthetists and 8 Physician Intensivists. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Inflammatory Bowel Disease Nurse who has an interest in working within the Gastroenterology and Surgical departments, outpatients and endoscopy. The post will be based at both Vale of Leven and Royal Alexandra Hospitals, working in tandem with the existing specialist nurse in Paisley. You will deliver a specialist nursing service to adults with Inflammatory Bowel disease, as well as to provide support to a wide range of professionals, as part of a well structured multidisciplinary team. You will be responsible for providing information and support to newly diagnosed and existing patients, providing information regarding disease management and recognising exacerbation of disease. In addition, you will offer support/information about treatment and be responsible for counselling patients prior to the initiation of second and third line therapies. You will be responsible for the safe administration of anti TNF therapies, ensuring that effective documentation and subsequent follow up is arranged, liaising both with Hospital medical staff and primary care. In addition, set protocols will be adhered to with both pre and post treatment checks to ensure safe delivery of anti TNF's. You will be actively involved in health promotion, providing information regarding disease management, vaccination counselling, smoking cessation, fertility and pregnancy, for those affected by this condition. As an IBD nurse, you will manage and operate a telephone advice service for patients at the Vale of Leven and provide support for the existing service at Paisley RAH. You will be responsible for the preparation and running of the IBD/Benign MDT meeting, where complicated patients can be discussed, resulting in a change of medical management or elective surgery. A flexible approach with ability to work on your own initiative and prioritise workload appropriately is essential to the role, as is a commitment to working effectively as part of a team. You will be a First Level Registered Nurse with considerable post registration experience, significant experience in gastroenterology and/or appropriate post registration qualification. Excellent communication skills, ability to work without supervision using own initiative, ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines, knowledge of computer skills and IT systems are desirable. 7 NURSING AND MIDWIFERY

An opportunity has arisen for a Higher Healthcare Support Worker within the Bio-repository for a two year position. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will contribute to the efficient functioning of all aspects of tissue acquisition, processing, quality control and transfer. You will assist in the efficient collection of tissue and adhere to standard operating procedure to ensure quality of material for medical research projects as well as accurately recording information onto the Laboratory Information Management System and assume responsibility for maintaining required levels of laboratory stocks.
