SYLENCER: Markus Johansson Amasses Metal All-Star Line-Up for Debut Album -- ‘A Lethal Dose of Truth’ Hits Stores on September 4, 2012 For Immediate Release August 16, 2012 SYLENCER: Markus Johansson Amasses Metal All-Star Line-Up for Debut Album -- ‘A Lethal Dose of Truth’ Hits Stores on September 4, 2012 Chicago-based musician Markus Johansson’s new project SYLENCER is just breaking into the masses, but true metal fans have felt this presence brewing for a long while. The new SYLENCER album, featuring guest appearances from the accomplished likes of Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Rob Caggiano (Anthrax), Brendon Small (Dethklok), Andy LaRocque (King Diamond), Gene Hoglan (Death, Testament) and many more, will be unleashed on the world on September 4, 2012. The album is entitled A Lethal Dose of Truth and will released in the U.S. by SYLENCER’s independent label, Sylencer Records (the album will be released in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland via dPulse Recordings/Ovrtone Music Group, Inc. and distribution partners NEO MCC GmbH/Sony Music Entertainment Germany). Aside from founding members Markus Johansson and Johnny Rox, permanent member status also goes to seasoned drummer Kevin Talley (Dååth, Six Feet Under).. “When we began making this record, we would never in a million years have believed that this is how it was all going to turn out,” states Markus Johansson. “People always ask how we managed to work with so many amazing artists on one album, let alone our first album. Sometimes we would get lucky and bump into someone in a recording studio, or at the Rainbow on Sunset Boulevard. Other times it was a seemingly wild game of Six Degrees Of Separation, or an instance of Facebook suggesting I befriend an artist's profile. In the end, we managed to make all of this happen by relentlessly pursuing our dream, and by allowing it the time to develop into something ultimately beyond our wildest dreams." The incredible list of musical guests that took part in recording A Lethal Dose of Truth is a clear testament to their recognition of Markus Johansson remarkable talent. Other impressive guest appearances on A Lethal Dose of Truth aside from the aforementioned few include: Michael Angelo Batio – Lead Guitar (MAB, Nitro) Metal Mike Chlasciak – Lead Guitar (Rob Halford, Sebastian Bach) Steve DiGiorgio – Bass Guitar (Sadus, Death, Testament, Iced Earth) Roland Grapow – Lead Guitar (Helloween, Masterplan) The Heathen – Vocals (Zimmers Hole) Christian Lasegue – Lead Guitar (Jag Panzer) Marco Minnemann – Drums (Necrophagist, Paul Gilbert, Kreator) Sean Reinert – Drums (Cynic, Death) Steve Smyth – Lead Guitar (Forbidden, Testament, Nevermore) Larry Tarnowski – Lead Guitar (Iced Earth) Emil Werstler – Lead Guitar (Dååth, Chimaira, Levi/Werstler) A pre-sale for A Lethal Dose of Truth is running on SYLENCER's Bandcamp page right now. Fans that pre-order the album in either a digital or physical/digital format will receive an immediate download of four of the album's 16 songs, and will enter them to win a Gibson USA Explorer that was used in the making of the album! PERFORMED IDENTITIES: HEAVY METAL MUSICIANS BETWEEN 1984 AND 1991 Bradley C. Klypchak A Dissertation Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY May 2007 Committee: Dr. Jeffrey A. Brown, Advisor Dr. John Makay Graduate Faculty Representative Dr. Ron E. Shields Dr. Don McQuarie © 2007 Bradley C. Klypchak All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Dr. Jeffrey A. Brown, Advisor Between 1984 and 1991, heavy metal became one of the most publicly popular and commercially successful rock music subgenres. The focus of this dissertation is to explore the following research questions: How did the subculture of heavy metal music between 1984 and 1991 evolve and what meanings can be derived from this ongoing process? How did the contextual circumstances surrounding heavy metal music during this period impact the performative choices exhibited by artists, and from a position of retrospection, what lasting significance does this particular era of heavy metal merit today? A textual analysis of metal- related materials fostered the development of themes relating to the selective choices made and performances enacted by metal artists. These themes were then considered in terms of gender, sexuality, race, and age constructions as well as the ongoing negotiations of the metal artist within multiple performative realms. Occurring at the juncture of art and commerce, heavy metal music is a purposeful construction. Metal musicians made performative choices for serving particular aims, be it fame, wealth, or art. These same individuals worked within a greater system of influence. Metal bands were the contracted employees of record labels whose own corporate aims needed to be recognized.

TRUTH CORRODED BIOGRAPHY 2018 Drums: Jake Sproule, Vocals: Jason North, Guitar: Trent Simpson, Bass: Greg Shaw, Lead Guitar: Chris Walden TRUTH CORRODED are an Australian band with a sound that captures elements of late 80's/early 90's inspired thrash and death metal, shaped by the likes of bands such as SLAYER, OBITUARY, SEPULTURA, KREATOR and EXHORDER, and then later influenced by acts such as MISERY INDEX, BEHEMOTH, NEUROSIS, DECAPITATED and REVOCATION. Taken together the influences have shaped a sound that is as confronting as the subject matter of the bands lyrics and pays homage to the go for the throat savagery of the bands roots. TRUTH CORRODED signed with leading US extreme metal label UNIQUE LEADER RECORDS which led to the release of the album titled 'Bloodlands' which was released in March 2019. Based on themes surrounding war and displacement, the album depicts the state of our times and the social and political impact that is having both in the bands home country Australia and abroad. The title refers to the growth of new conflict from conflicts past, with the suffering it creates spreading its roots. The album was recorded with session drummer Kevin Talley (SUFFOCATION, DYING FETUS, CHIMAIRA) – his third album with the band – and was mixed and mastered by renowned heavy music producer Chris 'ZEUSS' Harris (HATEBREED, SOULFLY, REVOCATION). The album also features guest appearances by Stephen Carpenter of DEFTONES, Terrance Hobbs of SUFFOCATION, Mark Kloeppel of MISERY INDEX and Ryan Knight, ex-THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER/ARSIS. Artwork for the album is designed by Gary Ronaldson at Bite Radius Designs (MISERY INDEX, BENIGHTED, PIG DESTROYER, THY ART IS MURDER) Commenting on the industry involved, vocalist Jason North offers "When we first set out to write the album we could not have imagined that we would work with the artists that have become involved.

Lusty University of Nevada, Las Vegas While metalheads around the world embrace the engaging storylines of their favorite songs, the influence of canonical literature on heavy metal musicians does not appear to have garnered much interest from the academic world. This essay considers a wide swath of canonical literature from the Bible through the Science Fiction/Fantasy trend of the 1960s and 70s and presents examples of ways in which musicians adapt historical events, myths, religious themes, and epics into their own contemporary art. I have constructed artificial categories under which to place various songs and albums, but many fit into (and may appear in) multiple categories. A few bands who heavily indulge in literary sources, like Rush and Styx, don’t quite make my own “heavy metal” category. Some bands that sit 101 Lusty, “Rocking the Canon” LATCH, Vol. 6, 2013, pp. 101-138 on the edge of rock/metal, like Scorpions and Buckcherry, do. Other examples, like Megadeth’s “Of Mice and Men,” Metallica’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” and Cradle of Filth’s “Nymphetamine” won’t feature at all, as the thematic inspiration is clear, but the textual connections tenuous.1 The categories constructed here are necessarily wide, but they allow for flexibility with the variety of approaches to literature and form. A segment devoted to the Bible as a source text has many pockets of variation not considered here (country music, Christian rock, Christian metal).

Reviews : Albums : Sadus, "Swallowed in Black [reissue]" Sadus Swallowed in Black [reissue] Metal Mind Records 2007 2007, Metal Mind Records Band Information Official Website Official Email Review Links Email the reviewer Email this review to a friend Discuss This Review Sadus, "Swallowed in Black [reissue]" I have to admit that somehow I missed out on Sadus when Swallowed In Black came out in 1990. I'm not sure how, as I was heavily into the early death metal scene; I know I had Visions of Misery when it came out in 1992. This one slipped by me until later in the 1990's, when I went on a mad Sadus kick for a while and tracked down the old albums. Swallowed In Black was Sadus' big label debut (Roadrunner) and was a marked improvement over their first album and the demos. All the pieces were in place for this one... Rob Moore and Darren Travis brought truckloads of technical, thrashing death riffs and solos that make your face go all melty, Jon Allen's drumming was at full boil, and Steve DiGiorgio's bass playing was actually audible (and incredible, as the world would soon find out... it wasn't long after this album was released that Steve did the "Human" album with Death). What's all this, then? Listen to the second song, "Man Infestation", and notice the shift at the 2:20 mark. That's classic death-thrash. We've heard so much of this since the early 1990's that it's hard to be objective and it sounds a bit dated.
