In the past couple of month’s we have had an almost regular start to the year, we had our usual breakfast run in January, which went off very well in a fresh park which was perfectly suited to our needs. Last month we should have had the All British Day, unfortunately this was cancelled, but with many thanks to Phil, Sylvia and Russell we did have our usual pre All British Day get together, followed by a pleasant run through the hills, which lead to lunch at Strathalbyn. A week later and it was time again for the Model A Ford club to host us as well as the Early Ford V8 club and the Model T Ford club for their annual breakfast run. Once again this was a very well organized day, with a short observation run through the suburbs followed by a very generous and delicious breakfast. After breakfast the answers to the observation questions were given out and the raffle was drawn, our little group did quite well on both accounts. On the way home from the Model A breakfast Bev and I unexpectedly learned something about Blackie, we discovered that it is capable of locking the wheels and leaving black marks on the road when someone pulls out in front of us and then stops. The other things that have been keeping us busy over the past few weeks is getting everything ready for our trip to the National Rally in Ballarat this month, servicing Blackie, servicing the truck, touching up the paint on the truck, checking the caravan, packing the caravan and generally making sure that everything is ready to go. In closing, don’t forget that our club’s 40th birthday party is being held on Saturday 27th, please come along if you can make it, it’s not often that a club lasts 40 years, but I’m sure one of the main reasons for our club surviving so long is the friendly co-operative nature of our members. I’m not sure that I will see the next 40 years, but I intend to hang around for as many of them as I possibly can!! Happy Fording 4 the Editor’s Desk EMAIL ADDRESS: [email protected] Hello everyone Well it seems like things are getting back to normality once again, we have used the Ute on several occasions and it is terrific to be out and about again. We are starting to put everything in place for our big trip coming up. We basically start with the Cornish festival cavalcade then off to Wilpena pound then onto Darwin and Broome then back to Wilpena Pound and home, I think by then we will be sick of driving [but I doubt it]. We had a great club run into the Adelaide hills culminating with lunch at Strathalbyn Hotel and you can read a story about it on pages 14 and15 To our club members going to the national rally in Victoria we wish you safe and uneventful travels Cheers Grace & Jim Many thanks to those who contributed to the edition of the magazine. Well, I got dobbed in for this story, thanks Russell. Once again, we have a pleasant Sunday morning for this event. David & Maralyn kindly collected me at 7.00am in Sandy with Bev & Jim following behind in Blackie. We were soon on our way to the Glandore Community Centre. Barb & Brian, Grace & Jim, Russell arrived shortly after us. There were tables set out under & around the trees in the shady setting. At around 8.50am we left and proceeded to follow Bev & Jim on a leisurely run through the western suburbs mainly around Glenelg. We all had an observation question sheet to follow, containing some tricky questions. There were 4 old cars and 1 modern. It was very enjoyable and not too long before we arrived back at the clubrooms to get ready for our breakfast.
