Rev. Kay Buchanan Rev. Glenda Kay Buchanan, 67, of Oklahoma City died July 21, 2012. Kay was born Aug. 10, 1944, in Olney, . Her family traveled as her father worked as an oilfield driller; they settled in Madill, Okla., in 1951. While attending Oklahoma Baptist School of Nursing, she met and married Robert Neil Buchanan. Their children were born while they lived in Louisiana. Kay’s first career was in the field of nursing, including home healthcare and hospital administration. When she moved back to Madill, she continued in that field and became active at First UMC. Then she answered God’s call to clergy ministry and graduated summa cum laude in 2004 from Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, Dallas. She was ordained as an elder in 2007. Beginning in 1998, she pastored at Wilson, Hugo-First, Ardmore-Asbury, and Pond Creek United Methodist Churches. She retired in 2012. As a member of the Oklahoma Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, she was co- dean of Local Pastors Licensing School. She loved the Emmaus movement and served both as a layperson and clergywoman in the Chrysalis and Cross Point Emmaus Communities. Survivors include son Andrew Lee Buchanan, daughter Michelle Marie Daniels, and three grandchildren. Service was July 28 at Madill-First UMC, with burial at Woodberry Forest Cemetery, Madill. Officiants were Larry Holder and Frankye Johnson. (Watts Funeral Home, Madill) Rev. Bob Bullock Rev. James Robert Bullock, 80, of Lawton, Okla., died Aug. 27, 2012. “Bob” was born Aug. 8, 1932, in Plant City, Fla., to Hal and Irene (Watson) Bullock. He grew up in Yukon, and he served in the U.S. Army. He received a bachelor’s degree in theology at Oklahoma City University and completed seminary. He was ordained as an elder in 1966. His United Methodist clergy career began in 1959 at Gould/Dryden. Bob also pastored at Caddo, Cameron/Pocola, Commerce, Lenapah/South Coffeyville, Fitzhugh/Mill Creek, Ball Memorial and St. John’s in Tulsa, Beggs, Hale Heights, Wister, Bokoshe, Antlers, Hugo-Wes- ley/Grant Fort, Fairland, Arnett, Grandfield, Fairview at Slapout, and Fletcher. After officially retiring in 1997, he provided pulpit ministry, including at Poteau, until 2007. He moved to Lawton in 2010, where he was active at St. Paul’s UMC. Survivors include his wife, Vera; son David Bullock; daughter Kimberly Godfrey; and three grandchildren. Memorial service was Sept. 8 at Poteau-First UMC. (Ritter Gray Funeral Home, Lawton) Rev. Dwayne Conner Rev. Dr. Rollo Dwayne Conner, 74, of Tulsa, Okla., died Oct. 9, 2012. Dwayne was born Aug. 22, 1938, in Pryor to Rollo and Clema Conner. He received his B.A. from the University of Tulsa and both the Master of Divinity and Ph.D. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky. He was ordained as an elder in 1998 and was a member of the Order of Saint Luke. He married Ruthann Corlett on June 12, 1964. For more than 40 years, Dwayne served as a university and seminary professor and as a pastor. Between 1993 and 2005, he ministered at Stilwell and Tulsa-Trinity United Memoirs 361 Methodist Churches. He also served briefly as assistant superintendent for the Tulsa District. He wrote for several publications and was on several district committees. He continued to preach and lead after officially retiring in 2006. Survivors include his daughter, Bethann Conner. His wife of 44 years preceded him in death. Memorial service was Oct. 20 at Tulsa-St. Mark’s UMC. (Cremation Society of Oklahoma) Rev. Bob Edde Rev. Dr. Robert Edde, 92, of Oklahoma City died Sept. 21, 2012. “Bob” was born Nov. 6, 1919, in Quinton, the only child of Robert and Ruby Edde. He attended Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater, where he met Jeanne Conner; they married in the Methodist church in 1942. He was a military veteran and served in Korea. His clergy career began in 1960, and he was ordained as an elder in 1965. He pastored at OKC-Grace, Weatherford, Moore-First, Sapulpa, and Duncan-First. He served as the Lawton District superintendent, 1978-1983. After retiring in 1985, he was an associate minister at OKC-St. Luke’s, filling that role until he was 80. In 1985, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree by Oklahoma City University. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne; children Richard, Kay, and David; three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Memorial service was Oct. 11 at St. Luke’s. William Jake Higgins, 89, of Stigler, Okla., died Aug. 1, 2012. “Bill” was born Aug. 17, 1922, in Murry Spur to Sanford and Laura (Poff) Higgins. His ministry began in 1952, and he retired in 1987. He was ordained as an elder in 1961. He pastored at Glencoe, Skedee/Blackburn, Union, Wellston, Ketchum/Cleora, Enid- Trinity, Purcell, OKC-Britton, Tulsa-Centenary, OKC-Lakeside, Perry, Poteau, Tulsa-Sheridan Avenue, Idabel, and Stigler; and he was an associate at Stillwater-First. Survivors include daughters Charlotte Idleman, Willene McKee, Darla Dunham, and Shanna Snyder; son Ron Higgins; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and two great- great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Zula, and by two sons and a daughter. Service was Aug. 4 at Stigler-First UMC, officiated by Rev. Larry Gaston. Burial was at Keota Cemetery. (Mallory-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory, Stigler) Rev. Joe Hock Rev. Joe Lawrence Hock, 79, of Edmond, Okla., died July 8, 2012. He had retired in 1997 after 40 years of ministry. Joe was born Oct. 14, 1932, in Oklahoma City to Lee and Bettie Hock. He earned a B.A. degree from Oklahoma City University in 1962 and a master’s from Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, in 1965. He was ordained as an elder in 1965. He pastored at Luther, Wheatland, Deer Creek, Ringling, Davis, Hi Way, Spencer, and Coalgate; in Oklahoma City, at Lakeside, St. Mark’s, and Epworth; and at College Mound UMC, Terrell, Texas. He also worked as a counselor at West Side Counseling Center, Bethany, Okla., for 18 years. 362 Memoirs Survivors include his wife, Elroes “Poppy” (Bonner) Hock; daughters Pam Dickinson, Jayna Hock, and Judy Conrady; six grandsons and four great-grandchildren. Rev. Arthur Lyons Jr., 65, of Anadarko, Okla., died May 11, 2012. He was the pastor at St. Paul UMC, Anadarko, at the time of his death. Arthur was born March 5, 1947, to Arthur and Elsie (Palmer) Lyons. He married Annie Willhoite on June 23, 1967. He worked for the City of Anadarko; for Beech Aircraft, Wichita, Kan.; and for Western Farmers Electric Cooperative, from which he retired after 25 years. A Local Pastor, he began serving St. Paul UMC in June 2008. He was an active member of the Oklahoma Conference Commission on Rural/Small-Membership Churches, volunteered for Project Noel, and active in the Anadarko Ministerial Alliance. He had studied at Langston University and was attending Oklahoma City University at the time of his death. Survivors include his wife, Annie; daughter Krista, three granddaughters, and a great- grandson. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Kenya. Rev. Paul Lee Overton Jr., 74, of Edmond, Okla., died Aug. 27, 2012. He was a retired Deacon. Paul was born July 16, 1938, in Chickasha. He married Carol Elaine Brown on Aug. 30, 1958. He earned a master’s degree in Sacred Music from Southern Methodist University, Dallas. He also was a veteran officer of the U.S. Navy. Paul was ordained as a deacon in 1998. His music ministry included service at Piedmont- First UMC. He retired in 2003. Survivors include his wife, Carol, and his son, David Overton. Rev. Arthur Ray Radabaugh, 69, of Tulsa, Okla., died Sept. 5, 2012. “Art” was born April 9, 1943, in Parsons, Kan. He and Coral Jean Davis were married 48 years. He attended Phillips Theological Seminary and was ordained as an elder in 1999. Beginning in 1989, he ministered at Depew, Buffalo/Fort Supply, Tulsa-Epworth, Antlers/Soper, and Wetumka/Weleetka and Big Cabin. After retiring in 2006, he was active at Tulsa-First UMC. Survivors include his wife, Jean; sons Robert Ray Radabaugh, John Edward Radabaugh, and Paul Andrew Radabaugh; and six grandchildren. Service was Sept. 11 at Tulsa-First UMC. Donald Scott Waters, 85, of Norman, Okla., died Nov. 30, 2012. “Don” was born July 12, 1927, in Cherokee to Daniel and Ethel (Wheeler) Waters. He was a Navy veteran. He married Barbara J. Troup on Aug. 5, 1949, in Enid. In 1950, he received a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Oklahoma A&M. He worked for Chance Vought in Irving, Texas. He graduated from Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, Dallas. While in seminary, he pastored Princeton and Blue Ridge UMCs in Texas. He was ordained as an elder in 1961. His ministry career in Oklahoma began at Lamont in 1961. He also pastored at Newkirk, Prairie Chapel, Drumright, Tulsa-Trinity, OKC-St. John’s, and Pauls Valley. He retired in 1995. He was active in Norman Friends of the Library. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; Dan Waters, Cindy Martindale, and Mary Shirazi; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Service was Dec. 4 at McFarlin UMC in Norman. (Primrose Funeral Service, Norman) Rev. Dean Wynn Rev. Daniel Dean Wynn, 83, of Amarillo, Texas, died April 21, 2013. Dean was born July 3, 1929, in Frederick, Okla., to Francis and Oleta Wynn. He graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma College and Saint Paul School of Theology. He married Darla Reckard on Aug. 1, 1967, in Oklahoma City. His ministry career began in 1952, and he was ordained as an elder in 1959. He served at Hollister-Sanford, Chickasha-Frisco Avenue, Lawton-Highland, Turpin, Gage, Atoka, New Zion, Hinton, Red Rock, Laverne, Rosston, and Hooker. He officially re- tired in 1995. He was a Mason and member of Kiwanis and Lions. Survivors include his wife, Darla; daughters Carolyn “Wendy” Sammons, Willetta Wal- cher, and Karla Kitchens; son Stephen Wynn; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Karl Dean Wynn. Service was April 26 at St. Stephen UMC, Amarillo, where he ministered later in life, across 22 years. Jim Smith officiated. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery. (Boxwell Broth- ers Funeral Directors, Amarillo) Rev. Conrad Young Rev. Conrad Wendell Young, 76, of Okay, Okla., died July 26, 2012. He was a Local Pastor. Conrad was born June 27, 1936, in Phoenix, Ariz. He graduated from Saint Paul School of Theology. His ministry began in 1977. He served churches at Muldrow, Westville-Zion, Carmen/ Dacoma, and Eakly/Lookeba. He retired in 2006. He also was a correctional officer sergeant at Jess Dunn Correctional Center. Survivors include Judy Young, his wife of 46 years; son Conrad Michael J. Young; daughters June Simmons, Michelle Young, Jennifer Bonnett, Bonnie Rich, and Melissa Plicque; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mildred Cleo Stein Bonham Mildred Cleo Stein Bonham, 92, of Yukon, Okla., died Aug. 26, 2012. She was the widow of Rev. Eugene H. Bonham, who pastored in the Oklahoma and Northern Illinois Conferences. He died in 1997. Mildred was born March 12, 1920, to Will and Millie Stein of Halstead, Kan. She and Eugene married on Sept. 17, 1946. She devoted her life to family, music, and Christian education. Survivors include daughters Anita Bonham and Marilyn Kaler, son David Bonham, and a granddaughter. Service was Sept. 8 at UM Church of the Good Shepherd in Yukon.

Eleanor Cochran Eleanor May Cochran, 85, of Montgomery, Texas, died Jan. 2, 2013, in Tomball, Texas. She was the wife of Rev. Carl Thompson Cochran Jr., retired Local Pastor. Eleanor was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Elizabethtown, Pa., to Raymond and Stella Shank. She was a homemaker and a literacy tutor for adults. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post No. 618. Survivors include Rev. Cochran, her husband of 66 years; daughters Jeanine Radican, Michelle Norman, and Anita Wooldredge; son Carl T. Cochran III; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Joyce Curtis Joyce Adams Curtis, 61, of Weatherford, Okla., died July 25, 2012. She was the wife of Rev. John Torrey Curtis, who retired in 2007. She was a member of the music faculty at Southwestern Oklahoma State University at the time of her death. Joyce was born Aug. 30, 1950, in Mooreland to Russell and Grace Adams. A gifted pianist and singer, she excelled at music from an early age; she was directing the church choir as a teen. She earned a B.A. in Organ and Music Education from Oklahoma City University. She was the first full-time music director at Ponca City UMC, where she led seven choirs. While studying for the Master of Sacred Music at Southern Methodist University in the mid-1970s, Joyce met Torrey as she was touring with the SMU Choir. She was much admired as a choral director. Her long music career included teaching at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, performing with the Canterbury Choral Society, teaching at Pauls Valley High School, and serving in a variety of music- related roles at churches pastored by her husband. She joined the SWOSU faculty in 2001. Joyce served on the Oklahoma Conference Board of Diaconal Ministry, including as an officer, and on the Conference Worship Commission. She attended training in Nashville to learn about the 1989 United Methodist Hymnal, then conducted workshops across the state to introduce the hymnal to churches and districts. She also was active in P.E.O. for four decades. When the group’s international Memoirs 365 convention met in Oklahoma City, Joyce was the pianist. Survivors include her husband, Rev. Curtis, and two children, Christopher Curtis and Laurin Townsend. Memorial service was July 31 in the OCU Smith Chapel. Interment was in the Sharon cemetery on July 30. (Shaw Funeral Home, Vici)

Kim Davis Kim Lynell Streeter Davis, 55, of Altus, Okla., died Aug. 22, 2012. She was the wife of Rev. Bruce Davis, who is the pastor at Altus-Grace and Blair United Methodist Churches. Kim was born Jan. 11, 1957, in Ponca City to Don and Verona (Morgan) Streeter. Kim and Bruce married on July 10, 1976. She loved being a pastor’s wife in the four churches they served. She was a member of the Committee on Conference Clergy Housing. In Ponca City, she worked at First National Bank. She then worked at Sooner Federal Savings & Loan, Lawton, and at First National Bank, Enid. Later she was a teacher’s aide for Medford Public Schools and a high school secretary in Kingston. In 2010, the Davises moved to Altus, where she began her work with the Altus Mi- grant Program. In 2011, she began teaching in Grace Day School at the church. Kim enjoyed crafts, including needlework and stained glass. Survivors include her husband, Rev. Davis; daughter Meghan Hull and son Michael Davis; her parents Don Streeter and Verona Mair; “adopted” son Samuel Qualk; and two grandchildren. Service was Aug. 27 at Grace UMC, officiated by Kirt Moelling and Michael Dye. Burial was at the IOOF Cemetery in Ponca City. (Kincannon Funeral Home, Altus)

Dorothy Ging Dorothy Ann Ging, 90, of Sapulpa, Okla., died July 19, 2012. She was the widow of Rev. Herman Carl Ging Jr., who died in 1998. He pastored in the Oklahoma and Northern Illinois Conferences. Dorothy was born Oct. 14, 1921, at Gibbon to Floyd and Jeannette Bonine. In 1942 she graduated from Northwestern State College, Alva, and also married Herman, on June 21. They had three daughters, Marsha, Carleen, and Rachel. She served alongside her husband in his church appointments and took part in school activities, including Brownie Troops, with their daughters. Dorothy filled major roles in United Methodist leadership development. She participated in laboratory training and growth studies. For more than 24 years, she was a program leader for the Oklahoma Conference’s Human Sexuality Training. She volunteered many years as a leader for the Church’s sixth-grade camps, as well as for junior- and senior-high camps and Night Owl Camps. She helped implement Pastors Aides for homebound church members. She was a member of Pearl Pickett Circle and Serendipity Class, and sang in church choirs. Dorothy volunteered until age 89 as a Pink Lady for St. John’s Hospital, Sapulpa. The hospital honored her for 12,436 volunteer hours. Service was July 23 at Sapulpa-First UMC. (Smith Funeral Home, Sapulpa) 366 Memoirs Samuell Goody Samuell Henry Goody, 70, of Pauls Valley, Okla., died Feb. 26, 2013. He was the husband of Rev. Perla Martinez Goody, a retired Local Pastor. “Sam” was born March 7, 1942, in Zanesville, , to Charles and Lydia (Spencer) Goody. During high school, he was in the Marine Reserves; he advanced to the rank of lance corporal in the U.S. Marines. Sam and Perla married on May 28, 1965, in Hagerstown, Md. A mechanical engineer, he graduated from Franklin University. He taught at Tulsa Junior College and, after the Goodys moved to Pauls Valley in 2000, he worked for Covercraft. The couple toured much of the United States on Sam’s motorcycle. Sam supported Perla in her clergy roles and other charitable ministries. He was crucial in the remodeling of the UM Hispanic Fellowship of San Mateo. Survivors include his wife, Rev. Goody, and daughter Kimberlee Hawkins. Doris Haddock Doris Joann Christiansen Haddock, 93, of Georgetown, Texas, died on May 7, 2012. She was the widow of Rev. Arthur Haddock, who died in 1988. Doris was born Jan. 7, 1919, in Danevang, Texas, to Mortorse and Elizabeth (Hansen) Christiansen. She married “Art” on Jan. 17, 1939. She had been a member of St. Paul UMC, El Campo, Texas, since 1942. She was a Past Matron of The Order of the Eastern Star and a member of that group since 1945. In 1993, she moved to Jacksonville, Texas, where she attended St. John’s UMC. Since 2009, she had lived with family in Georgetown. Survivors include daughter Nancy Meissner, three grandchildren, and two great- granddaughters. A son, Tom, also predeceased her. Service was May 12 at St. Paul UMC, officiated by Rick DuBroc and Beverly Schmidt. Burial was at Garden of Memories Cemetery, El Campo. (Triska Funeral Home, El Campo)

Vicki Hall Vicki Lyn Fleming Hall, 65, of Piedmont, Okla., died March 26, 2013. She was the wife of Rev. Andrew Martie Hall Jr., retired elder, who served in the Oklahoma and North Conferences. Vicki was born Nov. 6, 1947, in Little Rock, Ark., to Ralph and Jessie (Baker) Fleming. “Andy” and Vicki married on June 16, 1965. She was a certified ophthalmic assistant and worked many years for Dr. James Wise. She enjoyed needlework. Survivors include her husband of almost 48 years, Rev. Hall; her father; sons Drew and Jason Hall; daughter Alison Anderson; and seven grandchildren. Memorial service was March 29 at OKC-Grace . (Mercer- Adams Funeral Service, Oklahoma City) Memoirs 367 Mary Louise Keefe Mary Louise Keefe, 85, of Tulsa, Okla., died Nov. 4, 2012. She was the widow of Rev. John Horace Keefe Jr., who died in 2008. She was born Aug. 17, 1927, in Wichita, Kan., to Newton and Ina (Russell) Frederick. The Keefes married on May 4, 1947. She was a homemaker and a member of Tulsa-Asbury UMC. Survivors include son John Horace Keefe III; daughters Kathy Dinsmore, Carla Rich- ardson, and Linda McCarty; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Lorene Kelly Lorene Doherty Kelly, 101, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Aug. 9, 2012. She was the widow of Rev. Dorsey John Kelly, who died in 1995. Lorene was born Feb. 25, 1911, in Poplar Bluff, Mo. She attended Oklahoma City University, where the couple met. They married in 1931 and moved to while he attended seminary. Lorene was deeply involved in church activities throughout her lifetime, including supporting her husband, whose clergy career included posts as district superintendent, vice president of Oklahoma City University, and director of the Oklahoma Methodist Foundation. After his retirement in 1971, they moved to Colorado Springs, where he served at First UMC. In her later years, Lorene also was active in P.E.O., Cheyenne Retirement Center, and her Sunday School class. Survivors include daughters Carolyn Eckert and Joanne Emmons, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held on Aug. 17 at Tulsa-Boston Avenue UMC and on Sept. 1 at Colorado Springs-First UMC.

Wanda Lemons Wanda Jean Lemons, 83, of Vinita, Okla., died Jan. 13, 2013. She was the wife of Rev. Wishard F. Lemons Jr., retired. Wanda was born Oct. 11, 1929, in rural southeastern Oklahoma to Doc and Reatha (Grayson) Laman. After high school, she studied business. She worked as secretary for a state legislator, governor, and senior pastor at OKC-St. Luke’s. When she married Rev. Lemons, a widower, she became a mother to three boys that same day. Two more children later completed the family. After further education, Wanda taught English and business. She has a long and distinguished career with Tulsa Public Schools and Oral Roberts University. Wanda and Wishard were avid runners and participated in many Tulsa running events for many years, including the Wish Lemons Run. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Rev. Lemons; sons Clark, Don, Gary, and Mark Lemons; daughter Laurie Greiner; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandson. Service was Jan. 17 at Tulsa-First UMC, with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa. (Ninde Brookside Chapel, Tulsa) 368 Memoirs Idelle McDaniel Idelle Ophelia Taylor McDaniel, 99, of Nashville, Tenn., died Jan. 27, 2013. She was the widow of Rev. Marion F. McDaniel, a Local Pastor, who died in 1982. Idelle was born Aug. 10, 1913, in Carbon, Texas, to John and Zettie (Wilson) Taylor. The McDaniels served almost 40 years in ministry, much of that in western Oklahoma. Following her husband’s death in 1982, Mrs. McDaniel lived in Alva for seven years, then moved to Nashville, to be near family. She was a member of Calvary UMC in Nashville. Survivors include three daughters, Charlotte McAnally, Carolyn Westcote, and Cathy Johnson; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorial service was Feb. 2 at Calvary UMC. Mattie Meyer Mattie Ada Burford Cozart Meyer, 89, of Oklahoma City died Sept. 8, 2012. She was the widow of Rev. Dr. Lester Allen Meyer, who died in 2003. Mattie was born Dec. 2, 1922, in Waukomis to Verna and Hugh Cozart. She and Lester met while in high school. They married in 1944, just before he was deployed from San Diego, Calif., by the U.S. Navy. Mattie attended Phillips University and Oklahoma State University, and she taught secondary school, all prior to marriage. She supported her husband in ministry; she was organist, choir director, Sunday School teacher, and staff support. Their years together included his superintendency in three districts. She was a member of United Methodist Women, active in many circles. Rev. Dr. Meyer was one of the founders of Epworth Villa retirement community in Oklahoma City. The couple began living there after retirement in 1991. Survivors include daughters Annette Harper and Carol Schoeffler, son Richard Meyer, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Ruth Mitchell Ruth Jean Mitchell, 81, of Hartshorne, Okla., died May 14, 2012. She was the widow of Rev. Sanford Truman Mitchell, who died in 1998. Ruth was born Nov. 30, 1930, in Kiowa to Samuel and Ora (Beets) Drake. She supported her husband in ministry in both the Oklahoma and Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conferences. Rev. Mitchell retired in 1987. Service was May 17 at Waldrop Funeral Home Chapel, Wilburton, with burial at Red Oak Cemetery.

Vera Phelps Vera Jean Phelps, 81, of Weatherford, Okla., died Feb. 8, 2013. She was the widow of Rev. Richard Dale Phelps, a Local Pastor and former manager at Canyon Camp. He died in 2006. Vera was born May 16, 1931, in Tulsa to Adam and Lucille (Henderson) Thomas. She Memoirs 369 graduated in 1952 from St. John’s Hospital School of Nursing in Tulsa. Vera and Richard married on Nov. 1, 1952, in Tulsa. Vera worked as a nurse in Tulsa, Sand Springs, Clinton, El Reno, Lawton, and Olus- tee. The couple also managed the United Methodist camp near Hinton for 10 years. After retiring, in 1995, they moved to Weatherford. Among her hobbies, Vera col- lected clowns. Survivors include daughters Karen Phelps Stucker and Theresa Louann Phelps Hanks, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Marian Pope Marian Spearman Pope, 105, of Oklahoma City died Feb. 7, 2013. She was the widow of Rev. William Carroll Pope, who died in 1985. Marian was born Nov. 7, 1907, in Atlanta, Texas, to Noah and Willie (Taylor) Spearman. Marian and Carroll met when he was high school principal in Atlanta, Texas, and they married in 1926. In 1952, their ministry journey led them from Texas to Oklahoma, where he was an associate at OKC-St. Luke’s. Following retirement in 1968, he was an associate and then Minister Emeritus at OKC-Nichols Hills. Survivors include daughter Carroll Jo Ragsdale, three granddaughters, 13 great- grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. Service was Feb. 11 at Nichols Hills UMC. Cleta Smith Cleta Joan Smith, 70, of Catoosa, Okla., died April 5, 2013. She was the wife of Rev. Kenneth A. Smith, pastor at Leonard UMC. Cleta was born on Jan. 16, 1943, in Hollis to Herschel and Corrine (Brooks) Vaughan. The Smiths married on Aug. 26, 1962, in Hollis and celebrated their golden anniversary last year. Cleta was a homemaker and pastor’s wife. She loved teaching children in Sunday School, as well as reading, sewing, quilting, and cooking. Survivors include Rev. Smith, her husband of 50 years; daughters Melinda Mantle, Laurie Hardison, and Carrie Teel; and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Stephanie Smith. Service was April 9 at St. James UMC, Tulsa, officiated by Gary Harber. Graveside service was April 10 at Fairmont Cemetery, Hollis, with Sally Barber officiating. Royleen Wells C. Royleen Wells, 87, of Oklahoma City died April 25, 2013. She was the widow of Rev. Charles Edgar Wells. Royleen was born Nov. 3, 1925, in Olustee to Roy and Ruby Kizziar, and she grew up on the family farm at Victory. Charles and Royleen met at OKC-First United Methodist 370 Memoirs Church. They married on Sept. 8, 1946. She fully supported him in ministry across 64 years. Rev. Wells died in 2010. For the past 13 years, Royleen lived at Epworth Villa in Oklahoma City. She was known for her nurturing spirit and her blue-ribbon-winning pumpkins. Survivors include children Chuck Wells, Barbara Rounsaville, and Mary Hart; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial service was April 30 at OKC-May Avenue UMC, one of the churches that Rev. Wells pastored (1966-76). Officiating were Bishop Robert Hayes Jr., Steve Brant, and Bertha Potts. Audrey Wilson Audrey L. Wilson, 96, of Austin, Texas, died March 5, 2013. She was the widow of Rev. Charles Berry Wilson. Audrey was born Nov. 27, 1916, in Mountain View, Okla., to Mr. and Mrs. L.T. Cossey. She and Charles met on a blind date arranged by a friend, and they married on April 25, 1942, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was an elementary-school teacher and supported her husband in ministry. She enjoyed entertaining and cooking. In retirement, they lived in Muskogee. Rev. Wilson died in 1996. During the past 10 years, Audrey lived with her daughter at Austin. Survivors include daughter Marilyn Albee, son Charles B. Wilson Jr., eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Service was March 23 in a garden at her daughter’s home.

Irene Woodall Irene Lynn Woodall, 87, of Muskogee, Okla., died June 8, 2012. She was the widow of Rev. Millard W. Woodall, who died in 1991. Irene was born Aug. 6, 1924. She was active at Trinity UMC in Muskogee, where her husband served as an associate in his retirement years. Survivors include a stepson, Ron Woodall. LuWanda Young LuWanda Deloris Porter Young, 82, of Spavinaw, Okla., died Aug. 20, 2012. She was the widow of Rev. Howard DeRieux Young, a Local Pastor, who died in 1997. “Penny” was born Dec. 2, 1929. She married Howard on Nov. 22, 1948. She worked as a beautician. This clergy family served churches across 40 years.
