FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST Request Number: F-2011-03980 Keyword: Road Policing Subject: Fatal Road Traffic Collisions Request and Answer: This is to inform you that the Police Service of Northern Ireland has now completed its search for the information you requested. The decision has been taken to disclose the located information to you in full. Question Could I request the following information? A chronological list of all fatal road traffic collisions that have occurred in Northern Ireland since the foundation of the PSNI in 2001, with the date, exact location, and number of fatalities detailed for each incident. Answer Please see the table provided below. Please note that 2011 data is provisional and subject to minor amendment. Information has been provided up until the end of August 2011. Information after this date is not yet available. Reported Injury Road Traffic Collision Statistics are regularly updated on the PSNI website and can be accessed using the following link; http://www.psni.police.uk/index/updates/updates_statistics/updates_road_traffic_statistics.htm If you have any queries regarding your request or the decision please do not hesitate to contact me on 028 9070 0164. When contacting the Freedom of Information Team, please quote the reference number listed at the beginning of this letter. If you are dissatisfied in any way with the handling of your request, you have the right to request a review. You should do this as soon as possible, or in any case within two months of the date of issue of this letter.     Policy Legacy FOI Team Headquarters 38 (Irish) Brigade British Forces Post Office 825 E-Mail: 38X-PolicyLegacv-F01-Mailboxitmod.aov.uk Reference: F01: 2020/05812 Date: 4 November 2020 Dear REQUEST FOR INFORMATION — INFORMATION RELATING TO THE DEATH OF WILLIAM HUTCHINSON ON 22 AUGUST 1974 I can confirm that your request has been considered under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOI (A)), and the process is now complete. You asked the following: "Under the Freedom ofInformation Act 2000, I wish to request copies of any available hard copy documents in relation to the murder of William Hutchinson on 22 August 1974, in Cabragh, Co. Tyrone. The following reports are specifically requested: Unit Incident Report (Increp) issued by Battalion HQ 6 UDR; ATO request for the clearance of the vehicle driven by Mr Hutchinson; NIReport covering the period ofhis killing; Weapons Intelligence Report collated by personnel from 3Inf. Brigade Weapons Intelligence Section; Serious Incident Report covering the whole incident from InitialReport to final clearance." I can confirm that the MOD holds some information relating to the death of William Hutchinson. This information has been located in a range of documents and relevant extracts of these have been provided at Annex A. Some of the information you have requested could be exempt under Section 23(1) of the Freedom of Information Act, which relates to the bodies dealing with security matters, although it is also possible that the information relates to none of the bodies dealing with security matters. Sections 23(1) and 24(1) are being cited in the alternative as it is not appropriate, in the circumstances of the case, to say which of the two exemptions is actually engaged so as not to undermine national security or reveal the extent of any involvement, or not, of the bodies dealing with security matters.

    A Seed is Sown 1884-1900 (1) Before the GAA From the earliest times, the people of Ireland, as of other countries throughout the known world, played ball games'. Games played with a ball and stick can be traced back to pre-Christian times in Greece, Egypt and other countries. In Irish legend, there is a reference to a hurling game as early as the second century B.C., while the Brehon laws of the preChristian era contained a number of provisions relating to hurling. In the Tales of the Red Branch, which cover the period around the time of the birth of Christ, one of the best-known stories is that of the young Setanta, who on his way from his home in Cooley in County Louth to the palace of his uncle, King Conor Mac Nessa, at Eamhain Macha in Armagh, practised with a bronze hurley and a silver ball. On arrival at the palace, he joined the one hundred and fifty boys of noble blood who were being trained there and outhurled them all single-handed. He got his name, Cuchulainn, when he killed the great hound of Culann, which guarded the palace, by driving his hurling ball through the hound's open mouth. From the time of Cuchulainn right up to the end of the eighteenth century hurling flourished throughout the country in spite of attempts made through the Statutes of Kilkenny (1367), the Statute of Galway (1527) and the Sunday Observance Act (1695) to suppress it. Particularly in Munster and some counties of Leinster, it remained strong in the first half of the nineteenth century.

    Single Jurisdiction in Northern Ireland. Background The Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service public consultation "Redrawing the Map: A Consultation on Court Boundaries in Northern Ireland” contained proposals to replace the current rigid statutory framework of court boundaries for County Courts and magistrates’ courts with a single jurisdiction within Northern Ireland underpinned by more flexible administrative arrangements. Stakeholders broadly welcomed the proposals. Single Jurisdiction reforms will be implemented on 31 October 2016. The legislation to give effect to the single jurisdiction is contained in Part 1 of the Justice Act (Northern Ireland) 2015. Under the new arrangements, the jurisdiction of county courts and magistrates courts will no longer be determined by reference to County Court Divisions and Petty Sessions Districts. Instead these courts will exercise jurisdiction throughout Northern Ireland, similar to the way in which the Crown Court already operates. New Administrative Court Divisions The existing divisional structure will simultaneously be replaced with three new Administrative Court Divisions (ACDs). These Divisions will not define jurisdiction but rather will determine the area in which court business will ‘usually’ be heard. The three ACDs are:- North Eastern Division South Eastern Division Western Division. A map illustrating the geographical make-up of these Divisions has been attached at Annex A. Page 1 of 20 Although the legislation provides that different ACDs may be created for different types of court business (e.g. police or Public Prosecution Service boundaries for criminal business; Health Trust boundaries for family business) there will in the first instance be one single configuration of ACDs based on combinations of the eleven Local Government Districts for Northern Ireland.
