No Nay Never No Nay Never The outstanding young sire No Nay Never has 29 black-type horses from his first two crops and they have 27 different broodmare sires. Although Scat Daddy was noted in Europe for his progeny’s speed and precocity, several of his best winners in America scored over a mile and a quarter, the finest example being 2018 Triple Crown winner Justify. No Nay Never may prove similarly versatile, as his son Chestnut Honey has stakes wins over 10, 11 and 12 furlongs. No Nay Never owes much of his success to mares by sons of DANEHILL, including EXCEED AND EXCEL (dual Gr.1 winner Ten Sovereigns), ROCK OF GIBRALTAR (Gr.2 scorer Land Force). ORATORIO (dual Listed winner Servalan), FASTNET ROCK (Gr.2-pl Neverland Rock) and DANEHILL DANCER (Gr.1-pl The Irish Rover and Gr.3-pl We Go). The GREEN DESERT branch of the DANZIG line is also attracting attention as CAPE CROSS is broodmare sire of Listed winner No Needs Never and Scat Daddy sired Gr.1-winning 2yo Sioux Nation from an OASIS DREAM mare. Fast horses from the NUREYEV line, such as PIVOTAL, KYLLACHY and SIYOUNI, should suit. No Nay Never’s Listed winner All The King’s Men has a dam by PEINTRE CELEBRE while THEATRICAL sired the second dam of Ten Sovereigns. No Nay Never is thriving with more Mr Prospector blood. Gr.2 2yo winner Arizona and stakes winner Nay Lady Nay have a dam by ENGLISH CHANNEL, a son of SMART STRIKE. Another Gr.2 winner, Chestnut Honey, has a dam by CHESTER HOUSE, whereas Celtic Beauty has a dam by GULCH. No Nay Never should suit mares by FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND, SHAMARDAL and LOPE DE VEGA. Scat Daddy’s flying daughter Lady Aurelia is inbred 4x3 to STORM CAT and his Gr.1 winners Harmonize and Valid Point are inbred 4x4. The SADLER’S WELLS line is sure to feature in No Nay Never’s success story. He already has a Gr.2- winning 2yo with a dam by SADLER’S WELLS. MONTJEU had an outstanding record with Mr Prospector line mares, so his daughters should do well with No Nay Never, with his three lines of Mr Prospector. The same applies to HIGH CHAPARRAL mares, as High Chaparral owes two of his Gr.1 winners to Mr Prospector line mares. GALILEO is excelling with mares by Storm Cat and Johannesburg, and he is broodmare sire of Listed winner Tango. The SHIRLEY HEIGHTS male line has quickly made its mark with No Nay Never, with his smart 2yo Wichita having a dam by DASHING BLADE while a 2019 yearling with a dam by DALAKHANI sold for 325,000gns. No Nay Never’s Group winner Nikisophia has a dam by INDIAN RIDGE and his Group-winning 2yos Land Force and Wichita have second dams by INDIAN RIDGE, who also sired the dam of his 320,000gns 2019 yearling. BLUSHING GROOM’s sons RAINBOW QUEST and RAHY collectively sired the second dam of three of No Nay Never’s stakes winners and RAINBOW QUEST also sired the dam of another one of his stakes winners. .

WEDNESDAY, 23 OCTOBER 2019 SMULLEN: PROMOTION OF THE SPORT IS KEY HEART LEADS REDVERS TO By Pat Smullen SEA THE STARS COLT Oisin Murphy didn't end up with a big winner on Saturday but he's had a big year and that is the important thing. On Saturday I was thinking back to the work rate he has put in this year. He has ridden all over, travelling by plane, by helicopter, however he could get there to ride horses at two different meetings in a day, wherever they may be. His work ethic is something that needs to be applauded--that's what you need to do to be champion jockey. Oisin is not only an excellent rider but he is great for the game. He promotes our industry extremely well and I hope he does so for many years to come. I must admit, earlier in the year I was hoping that Danny Tudhope would be able to pull it off as the work that Danny has to put in to maintain his weight is phenomenal, and nobody sees that behind the scenes, but it wasn't to be. FRIDAY, JUNE 23, 2017 SCAT DADDY STARRING AT ROYAL ASCOT HORSES SAVING VETS, by Bill Oppenheim VETS SAVING HORSES After the first race at Royal Ascot Thursday, the five-furlong G2 Norfolk S. for 2-year-olds, Coolmore Ashford=s late great Scat Daddy had already chalked up three winners in the first 13 races--one a day, so far. Two were for 3-year-old fillies for trainer Wesley Ward: Lady Aurelia, whose second 5-furlong Royal Ascot win came in the G1 King=s Stand on Tuesday; followed by Wednesday=s last-race winner Con Te Partiro in the Listed Sandringham H. at a mile. In Thursday=s opener, Sioux Nation, trained by a certain Aidan O=Brien, became Scat Daddy=s fourth Royal Ascot 5-furlong 2-year-old Group winner, his fifth 2-year-old Group winner total, and marked the seventh win for Scat Daddy at Royal Ascot in five years. Five have been trained by Wesley Ward, two by O=Brien. In 2013, No Nay Never, from Scat Daddy=s third crop, won the Norfolk. Two years later, Acapulco won the G2 Queen Mary S. Last year Scat Daddy scored a 2-year-old double as Caravaggio won the G2 Coventry S. at six furlongs and Lady Aurelia became Scat Daddy=s second Sgt. Matt Ryba with retired Thoroughbred Crafty Star successive Queen Mary winner.
