3 SIGGY KRAMER ANNIVERSARY...

It’s been a year since club patriarch Siegfried ‘Siggy’ Kramer passed away, aged 76. Romania-born Kramer dedicated his life to his beloved club, serving as a player, coach and administrator throughout Inglewood United’s six decade history. Kramer wasn’t yet a teenager when he accompanied his family – father Hermann, mother Stefania and siblings Melania, Aleksander, Matilda, Anna, Vladimir, Heinrich and Elizabeth – to . A goalkeeper by trade, he first played for Kiev in 1953 and across the following decade was a key figure in the clubs’ rise to the top tier of West Australian football. Upon retirement Kramer turned his hand to coaching, guiding the club to Division One (1967) and Top Four Cup (1968) titles. Between 1971 and 2013 he was an ever-present on the club committee, serving as secretary, treasurer and president, the latter a role he held for nineteen years from 1994. “If you have the game in your heart you can be around for a long time,” Kramer said soon after stepping down from the presidency. “You have to be passionate about the game and really care about it.” His influence extended beyond Inglewood with spells on the board of the Professional Soccer League and the Soccer Association of WA. Kramer’s passion for the game led to him being awarded the Centenary Medal, for services to the development of football, by the Australia Government in 2001. He was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame (2002) and gained Life Membership of (2013).

RIP Siggy, we’re still thinking of you.

1st Team Report

“A Warm welcome to Chris Coyne and all of the Bayswater City contingency for what promises to be a day of good quality football. Last week saw our run of 5 wins in a row come to an end at the hands of a clinical Perth side & gave us a little wakeup call as to where we currently sit and what needs to be done to bridge the gap on the top couple of sides so that we can be up there on a regular basis. We showed that we have plenty of quality and can match it with anyone on any day however we cannot afford to turn up at half time against good quality opposition as you will be punished – For us consistency & standards are paramount and we believe we are heading in the right direction as a team and the players deserve credit for their application and output in the last 2 months particularly as they have bought into the plans Michael Garcia has in place, they believe in them and in turn they have seen the benefits. In the first half against Perth we sat a little too deep and perhaps gave them a little too much respect and found ourselves 2-0 down at the break. We changed some things at half time and in turn got a very good reaction from the players with roles between the sides reversed and Inglewood dictating and creating much of the play led by substitute and new signing Awad whose combination with fellow new signing Brian Woodall was very effective. We huffed and puffed but could not manage to get that goal that we needed to get back in the game as our final product/finishing on the day was just not good enough & this was compounded when Scott Witschge hit the post & then Woodall beat the keeper only to fire into the side netting of an empty net. Today we come up against the bench mark in the league and the only remaining unbeaten side. We come into the game with confidence as a group and we know that if we are to take anything from the game we will need to be mentally and physically ready from the first minute. It is a good opportunity for us to test ourselves against the BEST as this is what we strive to become. Best of luck to all teams today.“ Saul Contera – Assistant Coach

I would like to welcome the Members, Sponsors, Players, Coach’s & Supporters from Inglewood United and Bayswater to Inglewood Stadium for round 14 of the 2015 WA NPL season. We have had mixed results over the last few rounds with a 4-2 loss away to ECU, a 2-1win away to Cockburn & a very narrow lose, 2-1 away to Perth SC. We have had three players promoted to the first team list over that period and the exciting part of it is that has given the U18’s their opportunity to try and secure a spot in the U20’s mix. Once these players get used to the tempo of 20’s football, which won’t be long and gel with the rest of the 20’s squad, I believe we will start to see the consistence in results. The club has a bright future with the youth at the club at the moment and it’s a pleasure to work with players that won’t to work hard, be a part of a team & the club that is Inglewood United. As always, there is still plenty of work to be done with the 20’s squad, but with the commitment, work rate and belief in the 20’s squad, I believe and look forward to seeing the team and the individuals within the team grow and strive to fulfill the goals we have set. All the best to both teams for the game & for the 2015 season. Regards Andrija Petrović Head Coach Inglewood United WA NPL U/20’s

Welcome all to Inglewood Stadium, It’s been a few weeks since our last home game and in that time we have had some mixed results in terms of performance and score. Whilst we can never be happy with sub-par performances, overall I am pleased with how the team, and the individuals, are developing in terms of their footballing ability and propensity to playing a modern proactive style of football. I am expecting the team to have a strong second half to the season and I believe the playing style we have developed will serve them well to progress as footballers in the upcoming years. The biggest challenge faced by the team at the moment is managing and dealing with the progression of players into the U20’s and first team. The progression and development of these players is certainly a positive but is not without its challenges for the teams involved, such as the chopping/changing of the team and playing and training numbers. The upside to these challenges is that it allows other players within the squad to take up key roles and increase their playing time within the team and also allows players from other squads to step up into the U18 NPL team. There is a good depth to the squad and we will deal with these challenges as best as we can as the season progresses. I am expecting a tough and exciting game of football today, as is always the case in our games against Bayswater. It should be a good one to watch, I hope you enjoy.

Regards Dimitri Phylactou. Head Coach Inglewood United WA NPL U/18’s 7 Message from the club...

CLARKE BIDS FAREWELL TO FAMILY

Attacking midfielder Ryan Clarke says leaving Inglewood United was one of the toughest decisions of his life. Clarke, a mainstay of the senior line-up for the past five and a half years, confirmed last week that he’d worn Inglewood colours for the final time after opting to move back to his home state of New South Wales. “It was one of the hardest decisions I have made,” said 27-year old Clarke. “I love Perth and I love the Inglewood club and people like a family. I feel lucky to have played for Inglewood and to have met so many fantastic people. But as much as I’m upset to leave, it is the right decision for me at this time.” Clarke, who has joined Northern NSW side Maitland, is proud of the role he played at Inglewood. “I’m happy Inglewood has become a respected club,” said Clarke, reflecting on his 129-game, 51- goal career with the club. “We had some good players and were good enough to win silverware but, unfortunately, we let ourselves down.” It was with a wealth of experience gleamed through spells with Genoa (Italy), Universitatea Craiova (Romania) and Marconi Stallions that Clarke agreed to play under then-coach Shane Pryce in early 2010. Possessing a tireless work-rate and a knack of regularly finding the back of the net, he quickly became a favourite with fans and teammates alike. The midfielder has fond memories of playing under Pryce, and the ill-fated campaign of 2011. “Shane is the best player and coach I have been with,” he said. “We should have won the championship in my second season. We came third (in the league) and were unlucky not to go all the way in the finals.” Clarke’s creativity and pace down the right flank were rewarded with State team honours in 2012, with two outings against Perth Glory. The following year he trialled with Scottish clubs Greenock Morton and Queen of the South, turning down an offer from the former in preference of remaining at Inglewood. A scintillating return to the local scene saw Clarke capture the club Fairest and Best, Players Player of the Year and Golden Boots awards. However, it was Inglewood’s win in the inaugural Kramer Memorial Cup, in tribute to the late club president, that Clarke considers the highlight of 2014. “Playing for the Cup against Perth Glory was a great night,” recalled Clarke, who led a youthful Inglewood side to victory over the A-League side. “Knowing Siggy was an honour, Inglewood would be a much different club today if it wasn’t for him. And I thank the entire Kramer family for being so supportive of me through the years.” “The Inglewood boys have been like family,” he continued. “Jason Colli and Rikki Smith welcomed me into their families, Blackie (Scott Blackmore) and Juks (Andrija Jukic) are quality on and off the field as well as Rory Grant. I’d also like to thank (former property manager) Florian Tigana, the Yoda of football.” Clarke opens a new chapter in his career later this week when he debuts for Maitland, who competes in the Northern NSW edition of the National Premier Leagues. “I’m back in Newcastle with an open mind,” he commented. “The future can be anything really, a move into the A-League would be nice.” With several clubs in Australia, as well as from Indonesia, expressing an inter- est, it does seem only a matter of time before Clarke steps into the profes- sional arena. In the meantime, he’ll be strapping on his boots for Maitland and spearheading their charge up the competition ladder. Inglewood United thanks Ryan Clarke for his commitment to the club over the past five and a half years, and wishes him all the best for the future.

8 TD’s Report...

Welcome to IUSC Once again I would like to thank all of you who have committed to the club and season thus far. With the mid-season behind us I would like to remind everyone that we are all fortunate to be involved with one of the oldest and most proactive clubs in the WA NPL. My goal as TD has still not changed as I am still focused on creating one of the best grassroots football clubs that is firmly rooted in our community along with becoming the ‘Club of Choice’ amongst youth players. As a club we continue to fully endorse the National Curriculum of Football Federation Australia that places the development of children as its “ultimate goal.” I have been asked a lot of questions about next season and can assure you that the club will continue on providing their players, coaches, supporters, sponsors and volunteers the complete football experience both on & off the park. Hopefully the following points will answer many of these inquiries regarding programs, coach education and the role of the TD. Inglewood Football Institute (IFI) Term 3 will run from late July to late of September 2015 on Saturday mornings. This is a 9 week fun-filled experience for both parent/guardian and child/ player. Players aged from 5 years old to 15 years old learn through the Discovery Phase and Skilled Acquisition elements within a Fun, Active, Safe, Teaching environment. Each session is one hour in length and delivered on Inglewood Stadium, led by our Qualified IUSC Technical Staff who have completed the certification of Football Federation Australia. We are also planning a holiday summer session in 2015/16 that will run over 2 weeks and hope to have IUSC Stadium as the location of the program. NPL Post Season Spring Trials will be operated by the IUSC Technical Staff for players who wish to apply via an expression of interest. Presently we have held open trials however we believe the club has developed very well within and the new approach will better enable the club to plan for season 2016 efficiently. We envisage setting aside Monday & Wednesday afternoon/evenings along with Saturday mornings as the days of the trials but more details will follow once we are assigned grounds in August. In any case please note NPL trials are ‘NOT MANDATORY’ and we hope to attract players of all skill levels as IUSC has a team for each child’s individual ability, ultimately our goal is to improve and make all players more successful in the game. COACH EDUCATION is a main priority for this club and in particular the TD. We had IUSC coaches attend Football West courses this year and hope to have more attend before the season end. I strongly encourage all coaches at these age levels to take these courses as my aim as Technical Director is to appoint all NPL & Development team coaches prior to the trials commencing. Finally as Technical Director I would like to acknowledge and congratulate all of our teams, in particular our youth development coaches from the U15s through to the U20s. These coaches have raised the bar extremely high and have benefited from some outstanding results, our U15s & 16s NPL teams are on the cusp of some silverware, our 18s & 20s have managed to develop and promote within and into the 1st team whilst still maintaining high standing league positions. Good luck to all involved! Goran Stajic NPL Technical Director
