CTA The Chicago Transit Authority’s (CTA) affordable and reliable buses and trains are vital to Chicago’s residents, businesses and visitors. Lincoln Park is served by three CTA train lines, often dubbed the “L”: the Brown Line, which offers service between the Loop and Kimball; the Red Line, which runs between Howard and 95th/Dan Ryan; and the Purple Line Express, which offers rush hour service, Monday through Friday, between Linden (in Wilmette) and the Loop. SPECIAL SERVICE AREAS
HAT IS A SPECIAL SERVICE W AREA (SSA)? Special Service Areas, or SSAs, provide a funding mechanism to maintain and manage commercial districts – keeping them clean, attractive and competitive. There are over 50 active SSAs in Chicago, which provide services for most major shopping and dining corridors. In Lincoln Park, there are two such areas: Clark Street and Lincoln Avenue. SSA services are only provided to businesses and properties located within the specific boundaries of each district. SSAs provide services that are not provided by the City of Chicago or are in addition to city services. An appointed commission of local business and property owners governs each SSA, and the Chicago Department of Planning and Development oversees the program.
HOW IS THE LPCC INVOLVED? Each SSA Commission determines the services and CLARK STREET SSA #23 budget for the district.
