Swami Keshvanand Institute of Technology, Management & Gramothan, Jaipur Swami Keshvanand Institute of Technology, Management & Gramothan, Jaipur PRAVAH 2020 (26-29 Feb 2020) The Annual Techno-Cultural Fest of “SKIT Jaipur” PRAVAH the annual inter- college, techno-cultural and sports fest signify the rich tradition of our institute in promoting and fostering innovative and creative sparks that the SKIT family has nurtured for over a decade. It showcases the amalgamation of sports, cultural and technical events with participation of over a large number of colleges from the state of rajasthan and mammoth crowd of huge amount of students, it is one of the Jaipur's largest college cultural festival and has developed over the years into so much more: a Launchpad for upcoming artists, a spectacular showcase of talent, an epitome of incredible human experience, where friendships are born and memories are made amidst the gleam of several bonfires as the nights intensify. PRAVAH immerses us into the thoughts of alluring colorful lights, unstoppable music, DJs and VJs, and even savoring foods, it bends us towards competitions, huge crowds, and cultural diversities which indeed gift a massive package of memories. The overall mission is to bring along all and invigorate with extreme amounts of pure happiness. It also serves as an escape from all the bitterness of our lives. PRAVAH 2020 included 8 cultural events, 12 literary events, 24 Non-technical events, 8 Social events and 32 Technical events, so in total there were 84 events that took place during PRAVAH 2020. The percentage of women film makers, in the industry, is a mere 9.1%. Despite this, the films directed by women have compelled audiences to take notice, because of the wide spectrum of issues they have touched upon. Three women directors, whose movies have left an indelible mark on the audiences, include Tanuja Chandra, Meghna Gulzar and Gauri Shinde. This paper analyses the work of these three women directors, for the uniqueness of their themes and the characters they have sketched, and attempts to find out, what has led to their films being etched deeply, into the consciousness of their audience. This will be analysed against the backdrop of the realities of the society from which these films emerge, and as a reflection of the gender dynamics existing in Indian society.     A Study of Moral Scheme in Henry Fielding’s The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling Khuman Bhagirath Jetubhai Research Scholar Aligarh Muslim University India Abstract The article discusses the moral scheme of Henry Fielding’s novel Tome Jones that has been labeled as corrupt and immoral by most of its contemporary critics. It analyses the reasons for being treated as such. The eponymous character of Tom whose adventures play a prominent role in tarnishing book’s image is investigated threadbare. Seemingly immoral character Tom’s admirable qualities are highlighted and what forces him to behave vilely is also studied. Instead finding him unrighteous, the author argues that he is normal human with its equal share of goodness and weakness that makes Tom’s character a lifelike, a welcome change from divinely pure, pious and one-dimensional characters as portrayed by Fielding’s contemporary novelists. The defense put forward by Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834), Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) and Edward Bulwer Lytton (1803-1873) to support Henry Fielding’s (1707-1754) moral scheme in Tom Jones (1749)that is shocking to contemporary neo classicists, reminds of Mahesh Bhatt, a Bollywood film director answering the attack on his production house’s film, the first installment of erotic thriller Murder (2004), that made Mallika Sherawat and Emraan Hashmi instant hit among the Indian youth. His defense was like, ‘who says my film is immoral? It does edify that extramarital affair always leads to destruction.’ In the movie one of the characters involved in the love triangle dies. Despite its successful run at the box-office, where Anurag Basu, the director of the movie fails is, once audience leaves the theatre, their minds are occupied with the pleasure, Mallika and Hashmi gets out of their illicit relationship instead of its fatal result.

    Historical Development of Low-Cost Flush Toilets in India: Gandhi, Gandhians, and “Liberation of Scavengers” Yui MASUKI1 1 Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies, Kyoto University, Japan Abstract This article elucidates the historical process of the development of low-cost flush toilets in contemporary India, as a part of the project for the “liberation of manual scavengers.” This article focuses on the specific social movements led by M. K. Gandhi and his followers or co-workers, called Gandhians, from both socio-cultural and technological aspects. Gandhi attempted to focus on the dignified notion of scavenging work. He exhorted to improve the working environments in which scavengers had engaged to eradicate the untouchability. The Gandhians intended to change the structure of toilets in which one would be totally separated from their own waste. Gandians finally introduced twin-pit pour-flush toilets into households. This process brought modern sanitation discourse and knowledge spread to the public about the cause of discrimination against “scavengers” coming from their insanitary working condition, rather than from ritual pollution. In the end, the development process of the low-cost flush toilets by Gandhians, as the project for the “liberation of scavengers,” paradoxically embodied Gandhi’s original claim of untouchability as a “rule of sanitation” into a practical level. In the early 1980s the Ramsay Brothers gave Bollywood a new genre of monster flicks with blockbusters likePurana Mandir, Hotel, and Veerana. Following the work of the Ramsay Brothers, low-budget horror films that were made exclusively for the small towns and rural market increased in the decades of 1980s and 1990s. These films are primarily known for their unintentional humor owing to poor production and acting, but they have never been acknowledged for their actual content. This article argues that Bollywood low-budget films fulfilled the basic function of horror movies— that is, they subverted mainstream moral order and sexual morality. These films opened up space for dialogues that the mainstream cinema had totally neglected; particularly, in the areas of incest, female lust, ‘othering’ of male sexuality, and transgendered identities. On a different register, the relationship between low-budget horror films and mainstream Bollywood can be compared to folklore and canonical literature, where folklore repeatedly resists the conformities endorsed by the mainstream prescriptive texts. I start by describing a scene from a movie released in 1993. A group of young women decide to have a ‘kitty party’. They get together in the Mumbai suburban farmhouse of one of their friends and there, they party hard, get drunk, and soon they want more. As the lone male servant quietly brings drinks, one of the women comments on his attractive appearance. The ladies start to dance and one of them goes inside the kitchen to seduce the servant.
