INTRODUCTION The collection contains construction site photographs for buildings constructed by the George A. Fuller Company in Kansas City, Missouri.

DONOR INFORMATION The collection was donated by William K. Witte, a representative of the George A. Fuller Company, on 3/23/1982 (Accession No. KA0132).

COPYRIGHT AND RESTRICTIONS The Donor has given and assigned to the University all rights of copyright which the Donor has in the Materials and in such of the Donor’s works as may be found among any collections of Materials received by the University from others.

HISTORICAL SKETCH The George A. Fuller Company, based in , specialized in building construction and construction management. Founded in 1882 by George A. Fuller, the company built a number of famous structures, including Station in New York, the Savoy-Plaza Hotel in , and the Lincoln Memorial and the National Cathedral. The company was also responsible for the construction of several major buildings in the Kansas City area. The company was sold in 1970.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE The collection consists of construction site photographs for buildings constructed by the George A. Fuller Company in Kansas City, Missouri, area. The photographs document the progress of construction, from the removal of previous structures through the completion of the new building.

Included in the collection are construction photographs of Union Station, located at Pershing Road and Main Street; the Railway Exchange Building, located on 7th Street between Grand and Walnut; Children’s Mercy Hospital, located at Independence Avenue and Walnut Avenue; temporary barracks at Fort Riley, Kansas; the S. S. Kresge Building, located at 12th Street and Main; and the William Rockhill Nelson Memorial Chapel, located in Mount Washington Cemetery in Independence, Missouri.
