WARRIOR HOCKEY USA Hockey’s Warrior Hockey discipline is dedicated to injured and disabled U.S. military veterans who have served our country and play the sport of ice hockey. As one of the newest disciplines of USA Hockey’s disabled hockey program, Warrior Hockey is growing in numbers across the U.S. While some of the participants might have played hockey prior to being injured, many try it for the first time for therapeutic reasons and quickly get hooked on the game.

To be eligible to compete in the Warrior Hockey discipline, participants must have served as members of the Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard), with former members required to have been discharged under honorable or general conditions.

The USA Hockey Foundation is pleased to support Warrior Hockey and thank the brave men and women of the armed forces for their dedicated service to our country.

EL POMAR FOUNDATION The El Pomar Foundation has been a proud supporter of USA Hockey since 1989, providing grants totaling more than $100,000. The initial grant of $50,000 supported the establishment of the “President’s Club” and recent funding includes $30,000 in general operating support.

El Pomar was founded by Spencer and Julie Penrose in 1937 to enhance, encourage, and promote the current and future well-being of the people of Colorado, and the Foundation now provides more than $21 million annually in grants and programs throughout the state. While alive, the Penroses invested dramatically in large projects to reshape the landscape of Colorado Springs. They also realized that sports would play an integral part in that development and the Trustees of El Pomar have remained committed to this vision over the years. By supporting USA Hockey, the El Pomar Foundation has been able to continue the Penrose legacy and help promote safe, accessible, and elite athletics in Colorado.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS NATIONAL TEAM DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program, located in Plymouth, Michigan, at the USA Hockey Arena, has been a key influence on the success of U.S. men’s national teams in international competition. The program is a world-class two-year residency program and includes on-ice and off-ice training that emphasizes academic, athletic and social development for the top 16- and 17-year-old players in the United States. Each year dozens of exceptional billet families open their hearts and homes to these student-athletes and provide a vital service to the success of the program. The NTDP is intended to be a pathway for players to compete ultimately in the NHL. NTDP players continue to make an impact in the NHL, NCAA, and international competition for USA Hockey, and it’s a tradition that USA Hockey and the NTDP hope will continue for many years into the future.

In celebration of the program's 20th season on the ice in 2016-17, a reunion was staged from August 4-6, 2017, in Plymouth and NTDP alumni enjoyed a great weekend of reconnecting with former teammates and reminiscing, beginning with a welcome reception, followed the next day by a great day of golf at Eagle Crest Golf Club, as well as attending the USA vs. Canada World Junior Summer Showcase exhibition game at the USA Hockey Arena. It was a great weekend and one not soon forgotten by the NTDP alumni.
