2017 FLORIDA GATORS TRACK & FIELD 7 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS | 101 INDIVIDUAL NATIONAL TITLES | 25 SEC CHAMPIONSHIPS Reigning National Champions • Florida’s men are coming off their sixth national title since 2010--more than any other program in that span--with its victory at NCAA Outdoors. • Of the Gators’ 62 points scored at NCAA Outdoors, 49 were individual, and athletes responsible for 39 of those individual points are back this year. • After last year’s seventh-place finish at NCAA Indoors--the first time it finished outside the top three in the last 14 NCAA Championships--Florida became the third team since 1992 to win NCAA Outdoors after finishing outside the top five at NCAA Indoors. • Florida was also the only team since at least 1965 to finish lower than 2017 SCHEDULE fourth at a conference meet and win the NCAA Outdoor Championships, as it finished sixth at SEC Outdoors, its lowest finish since 1996. SEC Indoor Hardware • Florida has won five SEC Indoor titles since 2010--which is the second- May 11-13 SEC Outdoor Championships Columbia, S.C. most of any school during that span. May 25-27 NCAA East Preliminary Lexington, Ky. • Florida’s men are the only other program to top Arkansas at the SEC Indoor June 7-10 NCAA Outdoor Championships Eugene, Ore. Championships since 1997, having done so in 2004, 2011, and 2015. June 22-25 USATF Outdoor Championships Sacramento, Calif. • With a title this weekend, it would be the second SEC Indoor title in three years for Florida’s men, a feat no program aside from Arkansas has acheived since LSU won consecutive crowns in 1989 and 1990. • Florida’s women own three SEC Indoor crowns in the last seven meets, which is tied with Arkansas for the most during that time frame. MEN • Holloway opened the season with a 32.80 in the 300 meters--the third-fastest indoor Athlete Event Finish 300 in history by a man under the age of 20. Only LaShawn Merritt (31.94 on Feb. 12, 2006) and Noah Lyles (32.67 on Jan. 28, 2017) ran faster prior to turning 20--Holloway Andres Arroyo 800m 2nd (1:46.20) turns 20 this November. Jimmy Clark 5,000m 3rd (14:01.43) Yanick Hart 60mH 2nd (7.71) • Holloway is the only man in history to break 32.81 in the 300m and 7.65 in the 60 hurdles. WOMEN Brown’s Unique Double Athlete Event Finish • Freshman jumper Clayton Brown cleared a nation-leading 2.25 meters (7-4.5) in the Yanis David Triple Jump 3rd (13.38m/43-10.75) high jump at Clemson (Jan. 7) and triple jumped 16.34 meters (53-7.5) at the Hokie Invita- Kyra Jefferson 200m 2nd (22.76) tional (Jan. 20), making Brown the only collegian since at least 2002 to clear 2.20m and Darrielle McQueen Triple Jump 2nd (13.61m/44-8) triple jump over 16.30m in the same indoor season. Shayla Sanders 60m 2nd (7.25) • Brown is the seventh Division I true freshman since 2002 to triple jump over 16.30 meters indoors, and only the fourth to accomplish the feat before NCAA Indoors.
