Department of Education for the Physically Handicapped (Elementary School, Junior High School and Senior High School) School Guide Tokyo2018 Metropolitan MIZUMOTO-KOAI Gakuen The MIZUMOTO-KOAI Gakuen is a special needs education school established in 2015. We have 2 education departments which are for the mild intellectually disabled (Senior High School - Job Training Course) and for the physically handicapped (Elementary School, Junior High School emblem School and Senior High School). School Precepts 日々前進 (Hibi - Zenshin) “Advancing Everyday” Set a target for myself and move forward positively. 毎日真心 (Mainichi – Magokoro) “Always Sincere” Act with consideration for others every day. Our School’s Character You can study at the newest Special-Needs-Education School in TOKYO. (Our school building was constructed in April 2017) We have many facilities. Such as 2 gymnasiums, Indoor pool, Café -”coai cafe”, Artificial grass field (Mizumoto Sports Complex) and so on. We continue to make use of the department strengths of the Mild Intellectuaily Disabled, as well as the Physically Handicapped. SCHOOL UNIFORM Our students’ suit-style uniforms are especially tailored, so that students can go to employment interviews at any time. Department of Education for the Mild Intellectually Disabled (High School - Job Training Course) 1. Our Goals Achievement of all students to be hired at a company. We accomplished an employment rate of 100%. <All students who graduated last year got a job.> All students will contribute to society. 2. About the Department 240 students (80 students per grade) There’s no school district, which means our students come from all areas of TOKYO. There is an entrance examination. Curriculum Ordinary subjects Japanese, Social Studies, Math, Science, English, Music, Fine Arts, Health & P.E., Occupation, Home Economics, Information Processing, Career Guidance Special subjects for Vocational Education Office Service Course: Study for work assistance and data processing in the office. (This course is only offered in our school in Tokyo.) Logistics Course: Study for logistics service work .(Logistics, sales and product management) Building Maintenance Course: Study for cleaning service. Food Service Course: Study for cooking, serving customers and assistant work at a welfare facility. 4. After School (Club activity and Student committees) All students participate in Club activities and Student committees. Club activities: Swimming, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Track & Field, Table tennis, Expression activity, Art, Music, “Go” - Shogi and Othello, PC 5. Our Goals We help all our students’ to achieve Self-reliance and Public participation. We develop the ability of all our students by using the latest ICT & AAC equipment. *AAC : Augmentative and Alternative Communication. 2. About the Department 53 students (As of 2018) There are 36 students in the Elementary School, 8 students in the Junior High School and 9 students in the Senior High School. There’s a school district. You can go to our school if you live in Katsushika city, north of Keisei-Oshiage Line. Refer to the map on right about the school district. If you hope to enter our Elementary School and Junior High School, please call Katsushika city Board of Education. And if you hope to enter our Senior High School, please call us. 3. Curriculums We have 3 curriculums according to degree of disability. Curriculum equivalent to Elementary, Junior High and Senior High School This curriculum is intended for students entering advanced school (Senior High School and University) and for working at a company. Curriculum for students who are intellectually disabled Students learn not only subjects for the Intellectually Disabled but also skills for daily living. This curriculum is intended to help students who will be working or living at a welfare facility. Curriculum focused on independent living This is a curriculum for students who have severe or multiple disabilities. “Independent living” consists of 6 different areas that are: “Maintenance of health”, “Psychological stability”, “Formation of human relations”, “Environmental awareness”, “Body movements” and “Communication”. We increase our students cognition ability and communication skills by individual guidance. All curriculums include the education through home visits. 4. School Time Table (Elementary School 1st grade) Starts at 8:45 a.m. (The time when school buses arrive at school) Ends at 2:10 p.m. or 3:45 p.m. (The time when school buses depart from school) The school time depends on the day of the week. School nurses are working at our school. There is a procedure for the implementation of the medical care. You need to fill out the paperwork. The student needs to be checked by both private & school doctors. 8.     16-73 September 13, 2016 Due to track bypass construction at Shibuya Station on Ginza Line Service to be temporarily suspended twice between Shibuya and Omote-sando and between Aoyama- itchome and Tameike-sanno on the Ginza Line ・First suspension: All day during two-day period between Saturday, November 5 and Sunday, November 6, 2016 ・Second suspension: All day during two-day period between Saturday, November 19 and Sunday, November 20, 2016 Due to track bypass construction to accompany the relocation of Shibuya Station on the Ginza Line, Tokyo Metro (Head Office in: Taito Ward, Tokyo; President: Yoshimitsu Oku) will temporarily suspend service twice between Shibuya and Omote-sando and between Aoyama-itchome and Tameike-sanno on the Ginza Line all day during the following four days in total: the two-day period between Saturday, November 5 and Sunday, November 6, 2016 and the two-day period between Saturday, November 19 and Sunday, November 20, 2016.
