FMG is the publisher of some of the web’s most beloved media brands, including Gizmodo, Lifehacker, Kotaku, Jalopnik, and the Onion; together reaching over 70MM unique monthly visitors. ● Defining the vision, strategy, and prioritization for project-focused teams of engineers and designers across three time zones. Responsibilities include creating detailed spec docs/process templates/wireframes, managing project timelines, defining A/B tests, facilitating team communication, overseeing launches, and cultivating motivation, inspiration, and happiness. ● Interfacing with stakeholders from product, design, engineering, analytics, editorial, business, legal, and marketing teams to communicate/prioritize product improvements and understand/balance near, mid, and long-term needs in each domain. ● Led the team constructing a custom DFP-powered page view (PV) based post trafficking system, allowing the business dept. to remain competitive by offering cost-per-PV packages in addition to traditional ad impression packages. This reliably provides 88% fill on 1.3MM available monthly views, improved campaign marketability, and saved $500K/yr on externally provided services. ● Drove initial Kinja video efforts that launched video platform integrations/features which increased video exposure by 92% and video plays by 22.5%, introduced preroll ads with 90% viewability; increased outstream/preroll viewable impressions by 186%. ● Owned commerce tool improvements such as an in-page payment processing feature to increase monetized link CTR by 23%. ● Led editorial tools projects such as the feature template which showcases major stories and increases ad viewability to 84.3% on desktop and 77.8% on mobile, increases time on page by 10%, and increases shares per view by 177%. ● Led product development for a POC machine-learning based system that rates content sensitivity, which can be used to automate moderation for ad delivery logic, off-platform distribution logic, and comment sensitivity. GAWKER MEDIA LLC, UX PRODUCT DESIGNER | February 2014 to March 2015 ● Completed designs for: the refreshed platform editor for a simplified and modernized the editing process, notifications page workflow improvements, and a tips feature that allowed readers to securely send (optionally anonymous) tips to Editorial. ● Collaboratively redesigned article reading experience, content insets, commerce insets, and home activity feed. ● Aided in onboarding and training the brand new design team, including the VP of Product and Executive Director of Design. TESLA MOTORS - FIRMWARE INTERN, DRIVE INVERTER TEAM | June 2012 to August 2012 ● Managed requirement specifications for the drive inverter firmware in coordination with the hardware engineering team. ● Developed and debugged C code for the alert management system on multiple vehicle platforms (incl. Model S & Daimler EVs). CORNELL FORMULA SAE RACING TEAM, EE & CS SUBTEAM | February 2010 to December 2012 ● Member of the subteam responsible for building/maintaining the vehicle’s electrical circuitry and firmware system functionality. ● Designed and built the 2011 dashboard, which was the first Cornell dashboard to be successfully run in 26 years of competition. ● Designed and prototyped a lap-timing device to automate track testing and data logging for the production of the 2012 car. ● Provided website / marketing support via UX design and content creation such as the 2011 promotional team video. NYC PUBLIC ADVOCATE’S OFFICE, BILL DE BLASIO, NEW MEDIA PROGRAMMING INTERN | June 2011 to August 2011 ● Developed HTML/CSS for the official website and provided internal technical consultation throughout the office. ● Represented the Public Advocate’s Office at NYC Big Data meetups. ● Co-architected public information databases to initiate record digitization and improve public accessibility.
