Dear Sirs,

Dishforth Neighbourhood Plan

It is the intention of the Parish to create a Neighbourhood Plan and our Statement in support of this is enclosed.

Yours faithfully,

S J Brown Chairman

Harrogate Borough Council Planning Services, PO Box 787, HARROGATE HGl 9RW Statement in Support of a Neighbourhood Plan for Dishforth, North Yorkshire.

Dishforth Parish Council was formed in the late 19'h Century since when it has represented the interests of the Parish. It meets in the Village Hall on the second Tuesday in every month, except August. An annual Parish Meeting is held in April. Councillors from Harrogate Borough Council and North Yorkshire County Council representing the Wathvale Ward (of which Dishforth is part) attend the meetings. All meetings are open to the public.

The Parish Council is a qualifying body for producing a Neighbourhood Plan, and as such we consider that Dishforth Parish Council is the appropriate body to create this Plan. The Parish Council realises that to create the Neighbourhood Plan a working party representing a broad range of interests across the Parish needs to be created. Following an open meeting held on the 4th October, 2016, 35 people have volunteered to become involved and they include the Parish Council Chairman (who is also Chairman of the School Governors) and his three fellow Councillors, a Farmer from the Village, members of the Village Sports Clubs, Mums, local business people, local ramblers, conservationists and others with expertise in subjects as diverse as financial and legal matters, sustainability, publicity, local government, construction management, civil engineering and ground investigation, drainage consultancy, psychology as well as people who just care for their community. This working party represents a good cross section of the Village community who will report to the Parish Council.

The neighbouring parishes of Asenby, Baldersby, Cundall and Norton-le-Clay, Hewick & Hutton, Marton-le-Moor and with Newby have been consulted together with Major Griffiths the Commanding Officer of 6'h Regiment Royal Logistics Corp.

The boundary chosen is that of Dishforth Parish.

This area has been chosen because it encompasses all aspects of life within our community: agricultural and business, commercial and domestic, cultural and recreational, educational and social. In Dishforth we have a green corridor, rich biodiversity, miles of public footpaths and permissive dog walks, bridleways, sports facilities and a Village Hall.

Dishforth Parishioners recognise that the Neighbourhood Plan will not stand alone but will integrate with other adjoining Plans and will add substance to the Harrogate Local Plan for the foreseeable future and will benefit the whole community. N ~ " WE. -/ s
