DESIGNATION OF SURPLUS PROPERTY Attached herewith please find a resolution for your consideration authorizing Sheriff Stutts to sell or trade-in firearms seized by the Courts and presently owned by Southampton County with all associated sales and credits to be used for weapons or equipment suitable for use by the Southampton Sheriff’s Office. MOTION REQUIRED: If the Board is so inclined, a motion is required to adopt the attached resolution. SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS Regular Session ★ April 23, 2018 Whereas, § 15.2-951, Code of Virginia, provides broad authority for counties, cities and towns to acquire and dispose of personal property for the purpose of exercising their powers and duties; and Whereas, the attached listing of firearms have been seized or confiscated by the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office in performance of their law enforcement duties; and Whereas, all of the firearms are now lawful property of Southampton County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Sheriff or his designated representative is authorized to proceed with the sale or trade-in of all firearms listed, with all proceeds used to acquire weapons or equipment suitable for use by the Sheriff’s Office.
