The Anglo-Saxon World is a mini module run at Bede's World by Durham University Archaeology Department. This is a short intensive module for the public which requires no previous knowledge of the subject area, but it does take participants in-depth into an exploration of the early medieval world of Bede. Join us to learn about health and disease in the early medieval era, find out how people ate and how they lived their lives. Our evening sessions will run in the museum giving unrivalled and unique evening access to exhibits and the reconstructed Anglo-Saxon farm. Get Set for Running Course Starting in South Tyneside South Tyneside Council's Sport and Leisure Team in conjunction with Run England is starting the new running group at Monkton Stadium, Dene Terrace, Jarrow. The ten week course starts on Wednesday 6th May, from 7pm to 8pm, and is open to people aged 18 and over. The course costs £25 and is designed to develop running abilities and promote noticeable improvement week on week. With a mixture of session based activities and road runs, the course is challenging and fun. Those who are interested in joining the group are invited to attend a welcome meeting on Wednesday 29th April 7pm to 8pm, to get further information and to register. The Team, in partnership with Age UK, also hosts a running group specifically for people over the age of 50. The Silver Striders running group is age appropriate and takes participants through the stages of walking to jogging then on to running in a friendly, sociable environment.
