THE ALI MAAS & MICKY MOODY BAND We are delighted to welcome back one of the very best British blues and rock guitarists Micky Moody with vocalist Ali Maas and their band. Micky was a member of Juicy Lucy, Snafu and Frankie Miller's Full House before joining ex-Deep Purple singer David Coverdale in Whitesnake, enjoying huge worldwide success. He co-wrote one of Whitesnake’s biggest hits “Fool For Your Loving”. He has also played with Chris Farlowe, Roger Chapman, Moody Marsden Band, Company Of Snakes and Snakecharmer, and played on innumerable sessions, as well as being an author. These days he is concentrating on his own band with the fine singer Ali Maas, who wrote all the material for indie rock band McQueen before immersing herself in the blues with her own band alongside harmonica ace Alan Glenn. Micky is looking forward to coming back to perform the music that he and his band all share a love for - rocking blues with a twist of swampy, sultry soul and Americana. Their album ‘Black & Chrome’ is out on the Armadillo, with the second one nearly finished. We are fortunate in- deed to have an artist of Micky’s stature and illustrious musical heritage playing at the Club. Lemmy Kilmister was born in Stoke-on-Trent. Having been a member of the Rocking Vicars, Opal Butterflies and Hawkwind, Lemmy formed his own band, Motörhead. Wakefield - based, Vardis were formed at the end of 1977, with the Current line - up of Zodiac, Alan Selway (bass) and Gary Pearson r (drums) coming together about eight months ago. Their first gig experiences were in workingmen's clubs, before they graduated to playing major northern club dates. The band made their vinyl debut last year on Redball Records with the EP '100 MPH', which quickly sold out its limited pressing of 2000 Thls record Is now a genuine collectors' Item with copies changing hands for considerable sums. They are now considering releasing '100 MPH' for their own Castle Records label, due to public demand. Their follow-up single 'If I Were King' has Just been put out on Castle Records, and this has almost sold 2000 (just on orders alone. Vardis are presently doing a promotional UK lour for the single. although, to date no London gigs have been finalised.
