As a freelance lighting/scenic designer, Kevin’s work has appeared on many Chicago stages, including Welcome to Taylor University Theatre. Pablo is a freshman Theatre Arts and Economics major from Waterford, Michigan. In high school he appeared in, The Giver, Zachary Cook All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, Appointment Zachary is a Freshman History major from Whitinsville, with Death, The Mousetrap, and Fiddler on the Roof. Jessica Koloian Tucker Wieland Jessica, senior Theatre Arts major, comes to Taylor from Tucker is a sophomore Marketing major from Fort Wayne, Plymouth, Michigan. While at Taylor, she played Eugenie in The Indiana; Tucker served as deck crew for last spring’s production Count of Monte Cristo and Sally in A Christmas Carol. Four world premiere plays and two new adaptations seen first by Chicago audiences were among those receiving Jeff nominations by the Jeff Awards Committee. There are 179 nominations in 35 categories for Chicago Equity theatrical productions that opened between August 1, 2013 and July 31, 2014. In the Large Theatre category, Goodman Theatre's "Brigadoon" and Drury Lane Production's "LES MISERABLES" each garnered nine nominations. Goodman's "Brigadoon" was nominated for Production Musical-Large, Director and Choreographer Rachel Rockwell as well as acting and design awards. "LES MISERABLES" from Drury Lane Productions also received nine nominations, including Production Musical-Large and Director Rachel Rockwell. After working on various small projects, he finally got his break in the local theatre community after he was invited to work on a film featuring a little green frog and his friends. He took time out of his busy schedule to talk to us about how his naivety helped him make the most important decision in his life and what he’s learned since relocating to the Windy City. PLSN: Obviously, you’re heavily involved in the Chicago theatre community, but let’s back up to the beginning of your career: How did you get involved in the theatrical lighting industry? Bembridge: As a kid, I did community theatre. I was on stage but also hung the plot, circuited, ran spots and ran the Visit PLSNbookshelf.com board. So I was always sort of involved with it, in some capacity. Then I toured around the world for a year (as a performer), and when I came back I wasn’t sure what I was going to do.     'I used the Plexiglass box once to shine light into the audience,' he explains. 'The box was spun around center stage in this BY LUCIA MAURO one sequence in which I hit it with two instruments in a low position from the front of the house. The reflection moved through the audience and then throughout the entire theatre as I brought more instruments up. It was almost as if the box became the source of light.' Brian Sidney Bembridge has amassed a collection of clippings from interior-design magazines'many of them pasted collages Bembridge has designed sets for Lookingglass' La Luna Muda and lights and sets for Summertime (which harkened back to of living rooms, kitchens and decks that might inspire the look for a future theatre production. He also has accumulated stacks his New Hampshire childhood, including wicker furniture on pulleys that had to be raised during high tide).
