He is the founder and Artistic Director of the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic in St. Petersburg, Russia, as well as the Director of Orchestras at the Ithaca College School of Music. He has appeared with orchestras in the United States and abroad, including ensembles such as the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra and the Orchestra Sinfonico Haydn di Bolzano e Trento. -

The RECORDING Navigating, Coping & Cashing In Maze November 2013 Introduction Trying to get a handle on where the recording business is headed is a little like trying to nail Jell-O to the wall. No matter what side of the business you may be on— producing, selling, distributing, even buying recordings— there is no longer a “standard operating procedure.” Hence the title of this Special Report, designed as a guide to the abundance of recording and distribution options that seem to be cropping up almost daily thanks to technology’s relentless march forward. MIMI STILLMAN, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR 2017 2018 “ONE OF THE MOST DYNAMIC GROUPS IN THE US!” SEA—The Huffington SON Post DOLCE SUONO ENSEMBLE has been enriching and informing people’s lives through chamber music since its founding by flutist and Artistic Director Mimi Stillman in 2005. Hailed as an “adventurous ensemble” (The New York Times) and “One of the most dynamic groups in the US!” (The Huffington Post), the ensemble performs critically acclaimed chamber music concerts at home and on tour, commissions new works, makes recordings, and engages in community engagement partnerships. Dolce Suono Trio, its high-profile trio of flute, cello, and piano, evolved organically from the longstanding collaboration of flutist Mimi Stillman and pianist Charles Abramovic joined by cellist Nathan Vickery (Gabriel Cabezas) to explore and expand the repertoire of this captivating combination. “The three were flawlessly in sync – even their trills!” (The Philadelphia Inquirer) Dolce Suono Ensemble presents innovative programs of Baroque to new music. Historian Mimi Stillman’s curatorial vision sets the music in its broadest cultural context. Some of its artistically and intellectually powerful projects include the celebrated Mahler 100/ Schoenberg 60, Debussy in Our Midst: A Celebration of the 150th Anniversary of Claude Debussy, A Place and a Name: Remembering the Holocaust, Women Pioneers of American Music, and Música en tus Manos (Music in Your Hands), our engagement initiative with the Latino community. Duncan McKim, concert violinist, who won international prominence under her maiden name, Leonora Jackson; the fund supports the commissioning and performance of chamber music for violin and piano. Volume I These days, labels such as classical, rock and pop mean less and less since young musicians frequently blur boundaries between genres. These young musicians have built an alternative musical universe. I construct five different categories to explore this universe. They are 1) circuits of alternate concert venues, 2) cross-genre collaborations, 3) alternative modes of musical groups, 4) new compositional trends in classical chamber music, and 5) new ensembles and record labels. ii In this dissertation, I aim to explore these five categories, connecting them to recent cultural trends in New York. -

NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC The New York Philharmonic plays a leading cultural role in New York City, the United States, and the world. This season the Philharmonic will connect with up to 50 million music lovers through live concerts in New York City and on its worldwide tours and residencies; digital recording series; international broadcasts on television, radio, and online; and as a resource through its varied education programs. In the 2016–17 season the New York Philharmonic celebrates its 175th anniversary and Alan Gilbert’s farewell season as Music Director. The Orchestra’s performances are enriched by collaborations among today’s leading artists, a philosophy behind the positions of The Marie-Josée Kravis Composer-in-Residence, now Esa-Pekka Salonen; The Mary and James G.
