Rollesby Broad Sailing Club

Club Informaon Sheet

Who are we? We are a small, friendly, family based sailing club, always ready to welcome new members. We offer:  Racing 52 weeks of the year in a handicap fleet  Cruising on the tranquil and unspoilt Rollesby and Ormesby Lile Broads.  Help and encouragement for anyone new to sailing or racing.

Recreaonal Sailing Cruise on the third largest of the broads. Rollesby and Ormesby Lile Broads offer quiet recreaonal sailing on 77 hectares of unpolluted water, undisturbed by the bustle of motorboats, which so oen intrude elsewhere. Sail through the gap into Ormesby Lile Broad between July and October. Visit the Eels Foot Inn for a drink or just enjoy poering about in your boat.

Friendly Racing We are the only club in to offer com‐ peve racing all year round. The primary classes raced are Wayfarers, Solos and Lasers but there are also regular parcipants in Albacores, Stratos, Enterprises, Mirrors, Phantoms and several other classes.

Racing is handicap based and there are six club series together with six club regaas annually. Combined with Open regaas, the racing is varied and fun.

Increased parcipaon in Winter sees the fleet split into separate Mulsail and Single Hander fleets.

Start Racing We encourage newcomers to join in races and always remember that we were all novices once! There are always plenty of experienced members on hand to offer friendly advice on rules or boat setup. Sunday racing can get compeve in Winter but in Summer and on Wednesday evenings it is much more about parcipaon than finishing posion. And should the worst happen a rescue boat is always on hand. Beginners and Families Beginners and families are always welcome at Rollesby. The broad offers an ideal environment for our beginners and our experienced members will always be willing to help out and advise. The club house is situated right on the water’s edge. This is ideal for families who wish to take turns, or to be within easy reach of a helping hand. A safety boat is available for members’ use. During the Summer months we have an experienced club member available on Saturdays to offer encouragement and support.

Club Boats We have a range of club boats for members to hire at very reasonable rates. Classes include Wayfarers, GP14s, Solos, Lasers, Toppers and Opmists.

Annual Subscripons For current membership and berthing fees please refer to our website www.rbsc.org.uk for more informaon. The club is run by the members for the members and we try to give excellent value for money. One way in which we do this is to ask all members to help with the jobs involved in running a sailing club. We all have different skills to offer which helps us keep our fees comparavely low. Club work days are fun and are a great way to get to know each other beer.
