Rocking 7” Vinyl and Compact Discs at Great Prices! New Integrated Ep and Cd Listings
It’s the incredible free! MutantMutant PopPop AB Mailorder Catalog Here we go. Tonight is May 8. It is 10 pm. Sixteen blank pages are before me and I’m hitting the road on June 1. I work at the shoe store five days next week, I have exactly one day to get this bastard nailed to the wall... Everything has to click just right for me to get this catalog written, printed, mailed, delivered, and for you to get your checks in the mail and back to Corvallis before I leave town. It’s gonna create a very insane mailorder tsunami—it should be fun! I’ll do my part and get this to you by the 20th at the very latest. Please remember: you’ve gotta get your bix to me by May 30, if you wanna see your stuff fast rather than in early July... That means your envelope has to be in Corvallis by May 30. Hike! Okay, new release... First one out the gate is MP-515 THE PROMS Helpless Romatic. This one released on May 6, 1999 and the initial reac- tion to the album has been very, very positive. That sort of response from pop-punk fans is kinda a “no duh” to me, I knew this album kicked ass from the first time I heard the tape. It is gratifying to hear nice words none- theless. It’s quite a tremendous album when you get right down to it: awe- some songwriting, huge RAMONESy guitar riffs, and delightful deep har- monies akin to a very fine barbershop quartet. -

The Genesis Discography
TTHHEE GGEENNEESSIISS DDIISSCCOOGGRRAAPPHHYY “The scattered pages of a book by the sea…” 1967-1996 Page 2 The Genesis Discography The Genesis Discography January 1998 Edition Copyright © 1998 Scott McMahan, All Rights Reserved The Genesis Discography Page 3 THE EXODUS ENDS “And then there was the time she sang her song, and nobody cried for more…” “I think that in the end, if all else is conqured, Bombadil will fall, Last as he was First, and then Night will come.” … from the Council of Elrond, in Lord of the Rings Indeed, since its beginning in 1993, The Genesis Discography has been a fixture on the Internet much like Tom Bombadil was in Middle Earth. It has endured in the face of the changing times, without itself changing much, isolated off in its own world. Glorfindel had the opinion that Bombadil would be the last to fall, after all else was lost, last as he was first. In Tolkien’s story, that opinion was never tested. Good triumphed over evil, and everyone lived happily ever after. Not true on the Internet. Since 1993, the forces of evil have created a desolation and oppression that Sauron even with the help of his ruling ring could not imagine perpetrating. From the days of the Internet as an academic research network until today’s Internet I have witnessed ruination unbelieveable. The decay, corruption, and runiation of the Internet boggles my mind. Like Tom Bombadil in his carefully demarcated borders, The Genesis Discography has been an island in the storm, surrounded on all sides but never giving in. -

(Jyväskylä Studies in Humanities ISSN ISBN Diss In the past, exploration of music has focused on analysis by formalists, refferentialists and through social, semiotic and anthropological viewpoints including Schenkerian-Yeston (1977), Semiotic-Eco (1977), and Motivic-Ruwet (1987). Although each has its merits in the formal analysis of music, few explore genre identification. In musical genre studies the exploration of musical, paramusical (extramusical) and perceptual elements are essential to facilitate a full understanding of the subject area. Johnson in Zorn supports such a perspective in his argument for a holistic approach to musical analysis (Zorn 2000:29). The multidisciplinary nature of music and the discourses embodied in its creation, development and dissemination utilise a range of signifiers for identification advocating the utilisation of a “hybrid” (Wickens 1999) methodology combining quantitative and qualitative analysis. -

MUTANT POP Big Catalog
it’s the incredible 11 by 17 folded MutantMutant PopPop Q catalog A happy 1998 to you all! I was gonna have another installment of the Mutant Pop discography ready to roll along with this catalog, but current thinking is that I'm gonna publish that in electronic format and attach it to a future Mutant Pop CD. That will have to wait for now. Fear not, it will be along. And now, let me sell you a record! I speak, of course, of MP-27 THE KUNG FU MONKEYS Shindig! I really snuck this one out the door, no presale and no prehype and no picture of any sort in the last MP catalog. Sheesh! So here it is, ha ha, look at this, you don’t own it yet... Or maybe you do, the orders are starting to roll in despite my underwhelming marketing job. Rev. Nørb has spoken, at least, I hope he’ll forgive me for excerpting from personal email for, errr, vaguely commercial purposes. But the Great Grasshopper Himself said: “...your new 45s are quite good. The Kung-Fu Monkeys one is fricking excellent! Fucking neo-awesome!” Now, Norb and I are friends, but he thinks my taste is highly suspect, to say the least. Norb gags and wretches over about 75% of the releases on the label. He absolutely does not go for the power pop-punk thang or the 1234 Ramonesy three chord thang. Not at all. Nope, nope, nope... But he gobbled up THE PROMS, more or less lapped up DIRT BIKE ANNIE, and is raving about KUNG FU MONKEYS. -
Punk Rock History Project Update Punk Planet—The Collection Is Complete
This is MutantMutant PopPop free! Mailorder Catalog AH free! http://members.aol.com/mutantpop/ Hey, we rolled the odometer! Hooray for all of us! If I didn’t use the occasion to tweak the typography a little bit, i wouldn’t be doing my job. Thanks to Jeff Wison for the outstanding New Release Info dancing kids drawing, originally created for the the Pizzafest T-shirts. That cat can draw... As you can recall from MP Days of Yore, Pizzafest was gonna be a big show and pizzafeed with participants getting a free shirt, but the venue got paranoid about security, costs escalated, band avail- abilities got shaky, and the event was cancelled. Fortunately, it was replaced by not one but two “Mutant Fest” type of events: Cincinnati, OH in August (hosted by Dave Spodie of The Connie Dungs) and Columbus, OH in October (hosted by Eddie of The Proms). The bottom line is this: if you wanna have pop-punk events to attend this summer, people need to Do It Yourself. Get out there and independently organize your own Mutant Fest-type of deal! It would seem that there would be enough people and bands in the NY/NJ/PA area and possibly also in the Pacific Northwest—in addition to room for shows in the heartland of the pop-punk world, the midwest. There are rumors of a possible Connie Dungs/Dirt Bike Annie mini-tour this summer, how great would it be to tie into that? It’s something for you The 40th Mutant Pop 7”er is now on the street! people in pop-punk bands to think about—make your own fun! MP-39 THE BEAUTYS “A#1 Sex Shop Em- ployee” EP finally made it to my doorstep from Bill Smith Custom Records in LA on January 4. -
