    MEDIA RELEASE ‘MISS COOK ISLANDS’ TO APPEAR AT BIGGEST EVER ROYAL EDINBURGH MILITARY TATTOO IN AUSTRALIA - Cook Island National Arts Theatre head for the ANZ Stadium in Sydney for four performances Performers from the Cook Islands National Arts Theatre will arrive in Sydney this week for The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo’s Australia return which takes place at the ANZ Stadium between 17-19 October. The Cook Islands Arts Theatre was established to promote the history of the islands’ and their ancestors, in dance, drumming, storytelling, costume, arts and crafts. For the Sydney showcase, the group of 25 will perform a traditional set including Ura, the sacred ritual performed by authentically dressed female dancers who move their bodies to tell a story, accompanied by intense rhythms from the drums. Amongst the performers are a former and current Miss Cook. Teuira Napa was Miss South Pacific 2013 and Reihana Wiki Koteka represented the Cook Islands at Miss World 2018. Both will participate in the Ura in front of the Australian audiences. The team from the Cook Islands will join the other Pacific nations for an extraordinary 6-minute- performance entitled ‘Our Ocean People’ featuring the drums, percussion and dancers from each of the island groups - in total more than 350 performers from more than 7 Pacific nations.
