At the end of the day you got just stand up and it was an interesting journey home for those with high vehicles. See can read Ashley’s write up in this issue, who had a late entry and nearly matched his number of 10, finishing 11th and 1st in class. The Annual Awards Dinner on the 29th February was a tame affair due to the lack of award winners etc. Having heard that other club’s have cancelled their Dinners is it time to find another way to present awards or not have any? Coronavirus could have a major effect on motorsport and life in general. For now we will continue planning our events as normal until the Government or Motorsport UK tell us different. Last Sunday, 8th March, John Davie, Richard Warne and I attended a Motorsport UK Seminar aimed at Club Officials and event organisers to update us on changes and to take us through the planning of an event and what to do if something goes wrong, eg serious injury etc in terms of processes and paperwork. Unfortunately this has happened to us some years ago, but it is good to prepare yourself and hopefully it won’t happen again. The AGM is due to take place on Wednesday 22nd April at the Old Owens, agenda is elsewhere in this issue. Please come along to support your club committee. For some time there’s been talk of a closed road Stage Rally and hopefully it will happen, called the Herts Stages, run by Middlesex County AC and Herts County Aero & Auto Club on the 12th July. GBMC has been helping where is can. One of the Stage commander is Graeme Frary for the Little Hormead to Braughing stage, so we need all club helpers to sign up for that stage, more details will be available on the website, facebook etc when it is available. David Hughes it looking to run a couple social events and needs to know whether you are interested, so please get in touch with him. This is the private car collection of Roger Dudding (owner of Dudrich Holdings which is a name probably familiar to residents of south Hertfordshire and north London). His collection runs to something like 450 vehicles, including some vintage motorcycles, although not all are on show at any one time. This business also operates indoor storage for vehicles owned by private clients although many of these are kept under dust covers and are not available to view. The second outing I am thinking of arranging is a trip to Farr Brewery, Coleman Green Lane, Wheathampstead - probably on one of their open days in the summer - 25th July (Hopefully it will include live music, beer festival and barbecue). But if we are too late to book for this trip we might postpone until 19th September when they say they will have the same activities. I invite interested to parties to email me on [email protected] or contact me by any of the other usual means so that I can gauge interest. It goes without saying that if these suggestions meet with the usual level of disinterest in club outings I will not proceed with organising them - at least not on behalf of GBMC.
