The Business of School Improvement ACHIEVEMENT the business of school improvement ACHIEVEMENT LANDSCAPE PICTURES: KEY STAGE 2 2017 At the end of each academic year, for the past ten years, ECARDA has used the published national datasets to produce pictures of school achievement. The attached selection shows the achievement of schools in parts of Lincolnshire, the Humber sub- region and Doncaster at the end of Key Stage 2. The horizontal axis refers to “attainment” and, since 2016, uses the published figure of the proportion of pupils attaining at least the expected standard in all three of Reading Writing and Mathematics. The vertical axis refers to “progress” and, since 2016, uses the sum of the progress measures in each of Reading, Writing and Mathematics. The labels in each of the chart quadrants are no more than indicators: Higher-than-average attainment with higher-than-average progress is indicated as accomplishing; Lower-than-average- attainment with higher-than-average progress is indicated as striving; Lower-than-average-progress with higher-than-average attainment is indicated as cruising; Lower-than-average attainment with lower-than-average progress is indicated as struggling. Clearly, those clustered around the centre are close the to the national average. Discounting those clustered around the centre/average, the proportion of schools or pupils which fall into each of these categories makes for an interesting comparison across local authority areas. See the ECARDA website for a presentation of this type of analysis in 2016. The final picture shows the achievement landscape of all local authorities across the country with outliers and regional local authorities labelled. If any reader would like a bespoke local authority area achievement landscape picture, then get in touch. The Key Stage 4 pictures, based on the provisional national data, are already published on this site. Six monuments and three events are recorded within the buffer. Three of the monuments relate to the Roman Ridge road, running northwest from Doncaster, located along the northern edge of the site. An Iron Age to Roman settlement site was recorded as cropmarks at the western edge of the buffer; two undated enclosures plus other features are recorded as cropmarks on the northern edge of the buffer and abraded pottery was found during the evaluation to the west of the site. Three events have taken place within the buffer; two associated with the Roman road, including a survey of its route and trial trenches that identified part of a probable road surface. Geophysical survey and excavation were carried out at Emley Drive to the west of the site but no archaeological features were encountered.

ROADS AND TURNPIKE TRUSTS IN EASTERN YORKSHIRE by K. A. MACMAHON, Senior Staff Tutor in Local History, The University of Hull © East YQrk.;hiT~ Local History Society '96' ROADS AND TURNPIKE TRUSTS IN EASTERN YORKSHIRE A major purpose of this survey is to discuss the ongms, evolution and eventual decline of the turnpike trusts in eastern Yorkshire. The turnpike trust was essentially an ad hoc device to ensure the conservation, construction and repair of regionaIly important sections of public highway and its activities were cornple menrary and ancillary to the recognised contemporary methods of road maintenance which were based on the parish as the adminis trative unit. As a necessary introduction to this theme, therefore, this essay will review, with appropriate local and regional illustration, certain major features ofroad history from medieval times onwards, and against this background will then proceed to consider the history of the trusts in East Yorkshire and the roads they controlled. Based substantially on extant record material, notice will be taken of various aspects of administration and finance and of the problems ofthe trusts after c. 1840 when evidence oftheir decline and inevit able extinction was beginning to be apparent. .. * * * Like the Romans two thousand years ago, we ofthe twentieth century tend to regard a road primarily as a continuous strip ofwel1 prepared surface designed for the easy and speedy movement ofman and his transport vehicles.

  • Settlement Profiles
Settlement Profiles Local Plan Evidence Base www.doncaster.gov.uk Doncaster Settlement Profiles 1.1. As part of the emerging Local Plan, a Settlement Audit was undertaken in 2014 to better understand the service provision across the borough, which in turn helped to determine the Local Plan Settlement Hierarchy. This process is dealt with at length in both the Settlement Audit and the Settlement Background Paper. 1.2. However, some consultation responses to the Settlement Audit and the Homes and Settlements consultation intimated that the Settlement Audit could be further expanded on and clarified. 1.3. As such, the following profiles have been developed which seeks to provide portraits of each defined settlement within the borough (the Main Urban Area; 7 Main Towns; 10 Service Towns and Villages; and 12 Defined Villages). 1.4. Each portrait will expand on the results of the Settlement Audit, and will provide ‘profiles’ for each settlement, dealing with social, economic and environmental matters, as per the Settlement Audit. 1.5. Occasionally, some scores or information published in the Settlement Audit Update (2017) have been amended. These amendments and the rationale are presented overleaf in Table A. 1.6. Information about the Settlement Hierarchy and allocations within each settlement are provided in the Settlement Background Paper and Site Selection Methodology. For convenience, a number of abridged settlement profiles have also been provided in the Settlement Housing Summaries. 1 Settlement Amendment Rationale Change to Scores? Auckley – Settlement scores merged Settlement made up of two Scores now reflect the combined settlement proposed Hayfield Community Profile Areas so in the Settlement Hierarchy.

  • Adopted Central Lincolnshire Local Plan
CENTRAL LINCOLNSHIRE Local Plan Adopted April 2017 Central Lincolnshire | Local Plan - Adopted April 2017 Foreword Ensuring a flourishing future for Central Lincolnshire Central Lincolnshire is characterised by its diverse and enticing landscape. The magnificent city of Lincoln is embedded within our beautiful landscape and is surrounded by a network of picturesque towns and villages: these places, along with the social and economic opportunities in the area, make Central Lincolnshire a fantastic place to live, work and visit. But there is so much potential to make Central Lincolnshire an even better place. An even better place to live, with quality homes people can afford, easier access to shops, services and facilities, and new thriving communities, which are welcoming and safe. An even better place to work, where new facilities and infrastructure mean that businesses choose to expand or relocate here, bringing jobs and stimulating investment. An even better place to visit, a place where people choose to come to enjoy our nature, our history, our shops, our eateries and attractions, while at the same time significantly contributing to our rural and urban economies. A new Local Plan for Central Lincolnshire can do this. This is the adopted Local Plan for Central Lincolnshire. It was prepared with the benefit of your very helpful comments we received at various draft stages. Inside this adopted Local Plan are policies for the growth and regeneration of Central Lincolnshire over the next 20 years and beyond, including sites allocated for development and other areas designated for protection.
