NURUL MURSHIDA BINTI MOHD SABRI v ABSTRACT This report deals with flood problem which is usually happened in Malaysia when it coincides with monsoon and gave harm and damages to human life, as it had took many lives each time it happens. A case study of flood is going to be conduct to analyze the pattern of water level and to determine other causes that contributes to the flood. The main aim of the study is to minimize the effect of flood problems. It is also used to develop high accuracy model utilizing Artificial Neural Network (ANN) in predicting flood. Furthermore, it used to forecast flood occasion in the study area of station number of 5606410 of Sungai Muda (Jambatan Syed Omar) which is the main river that supplies water to Kedah and Penang. Besides, it used to investigate whether water level data alone can be used to produce modelling and to determine whether ANN is functioning in the forecasting. In this case study, a computational model will be used to stimulate the input data and generate the result, which is called Artificial Neural Network. ANN, which are modelled on the operating behaviour of the brain, are tolerant of some imprecision and are especially useful for classification and function approximation or mapping problems, to which hard and fast rules cannot be applied easily.

Having spent most of her life in the northern state, Persatuan Tindakan Alam Sekitar (PTAS) Sungai Petani’s Lydia Ong, 56, said her health was affected by the open burning, which continued unabated despite three years of campaigning by her group. She said she moved back to Penang six months ago after the acrid smell of burnt plastic became worse during the movement control order (MCO), and had even endangered her life because she was already suffering from breathing problems. At a forum organised by C4 Center today on imported waste, Ong said Kedah remained home to “hundreds” of illegal recycling factories burning non-recyclable waste in the wee hours of the morning despite repeated claims by the state that it would crack down on such operations. The main objective is to further understand the relationship of the aged with those around them and its contribution to productive and quality ageing process. Survey was the main method used in the study and was conducted among 200 older persons residing in the rural area of mukim Sungai Petani, in the district of Kuala Muda, Kedah, Malaysia.

(1) Outline of Catchment Study Report This issue relates to the format of a catchment study report. While the current catchment reports contain a summary checklist of the catchment strategy reports, it does not include basic information such as catchment name and present connection PE. (2) No Link between Sewerage Development Effects and Catchment Strategies This issue relates to the content of the report. Current reports focus on the location of new STP sites, routes of new sewers, and the development of the sewerage system, but the effects of sewerage development on effluent-receiving rivers are neither mentioned nor examined. Therefore, the objectives for the sewerage system and its implementation are unclear. (3) Current Analytical Approach for Catchment Strategies This issue relates to the analytical approach of catchment plans. The current Guidelines show the general procedural scheme for developing sewerage catchment plans, but this scheme combines or blends what to do and what to consider. Since different developers use different approaches for catchment plans, comparing and evaluating these catchment strategies becomes complex. (4) No Consideration for Local Water Conservation This issue relates to constraints in identifying catchment strategies. The concept of local water conservation does not exist in the current Guidelines. (5) No Quantitative Analysis on Sludge Management This issue relates to financial analysis.
