Before reading about the extremely rich life of Neil Young, I invite readers to watch websites of other great singers - of the same generation and importance, and view Young's official website: Bob Dylan Bruce Springsteen Mick Jagger Elton John Neil Young's official website It is surprising that, unlike other musicians, there is nothing about his music, his last record, or concert, on his site. It seems more like the site of an environmental activist! For me, it shows the great originality of this artist who cannot be confined to any one category. The young years Neil Percival Young is born the 12 November 1945 in Toronto, Canada. His father was a journalist and writer. As a young boy he had bad health - polio at the age of five, epileptic seizures and spinal deformity. After his parent’s divorce, he moved with his mother to Winnipeg. As a teenager, he learnt to play the guitar and soon began writing songs. In Junior High School, he began to play with local bands and record songs that are stored in The Neil Young Archives. On the road To live out his passion, he leaves Canada for the United States in 1966, with bassist Bruce Palmer, heading for Los Angeles in a black hearse.

The previously unreleased, 11-track album was recorded live at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa on February 5, 1973. TUSCALOOSA is available on a single disc CD, a double album over 3-sides with etched artwork on side 4, and on high resolution digital audio via NYA. Young performs the first two songs solo before being joined by the band comprised of Tim Drummond (bass), Kenny Buttrey (drums), Jack Nitzsche (piano) and Ben Keith (steel guitar) who would record Harvest and Times Fades Away with Young. TUSCALOOSA features live versions of songs from Young’s self-titled 1969 debut (“Here We Are In The Years”) plus classic songs from his two most commercially successful albums of his early career, After The Goldrush (1970) and Harvest (1972). Essentially a live greatest hits package, TUSCALOOSA is comprised of some of Young’s best-loved songs including “Heart Of Gold,” “Old Man” and “Don’t Be DenIed.” TUSCALOOSA was produced by Neil Young, Elliot Mazer and mixed by John Hanlon and mastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman from the original analogue tapes. The sonic quality of these tracks is nothing short of astonishing making this album an essential listening experience. Live photographs by Joel Bernstein complete the packaging.
