Budgeting, pricing, buying, leasing, investing, divesting or valuation are key aspect of many jobs, and financial models are the best tool for analyzing vast amounts of complex data quickly and accurately, for decision making. Excel is the most popular and effective financial modelling tool, and mastery of Excel is an extremely valuable skill. The course will first delve into the functionalities of Excel, to get the participants better acquainted. The following day the session will highlight a variety of must-know applications of modelling. The course will be led by a veteran in financial modelling, who will strengthen the participants skill sets using direct examples which each participant can test out on their own laptop.

. Hamad Aslam has over eight years of experience in research, economic analysis, portfolio management and investment advice. . Previously, Hamad head the research function at Lakson Investments, Pakistan’s largest independent asset management company. He allocated funds to companies, invested in Pakistan and global equity, debt Hamad Aslam and commodity markets. CFA . Prior to Lakson, Hamad headed the sell-side research for BMA Capital, Abraaj Capital’s portfolio company in Pakistan. He was instrumental in attracting foreign investment in Pakistan’s capital markets and led various initiatives including Pakistan Day at the London Exchange in 2010. . He has a Bachelor of (Honours) degree in and and is also a CFA.

Learning outcomes Participants will enhance and consolidate their Excel skills including the ability to build models appropriate to a number of situations which are transparent, error-free, flexible and robust. Participant will use Excel tools and functions that are often required when building models in a wide variety of financial modelling contexts.

Methods The training combines presentations and exercises. Numerous practical, hands-on exercises are performed to illustrate Excel features and tools.
