Nila F. Moeloek Ketua Umum The Indonesian Cancer Founda on (ICF) is a social and humanitarian non‐profit organiza on with a specific interest in health issues, especially cancer.
ICF objec ves are to fight cancer through promo onal, preven ve and suppor ve ac vi es.
Without the involvement of every individual and components of the society, controlling cancer cannot be successfully achieved.
Our organiza on works in coopera on with the government, professional organiza ons, non‐governmental organiza ons (NGO’s), business sectors and concerned individuals. ICF has chapters all over Indonesia. The ICF conducts various cancer control programs, priori zing on the 10 most common types of cancer in Indonesia:
Cervical cancer Breast cancer Liver cancer Lung cancer Skin cancer Nasopharyngeal cancer Colorectal cancer Leukemia Malignant Trophoblast Disease Malignant Lymphoma. The problems in our effort to control the spread of cancer are the lack of community awareness about living a healthy lifestyle as a way to reduce the risk of cancer and the lack of informa on and access to early detec on of cancer.
The consequence is that cancer is usually diagnosed at an advanced stage. This causes emo onal, physical and in most cases, financial burden for the cancer pa ents and their family. Peringatan 25 tahun YKI penggalangan dana Based on the concern over the increasing number of cancer pa ents, the lack of community’s knowledge and awareness on the disease and the high mortality rate, 17 public figures felt the need to establish the Indonesian Cancer Founda on on the 17th of April 1977.

First Chairman was Prof. Dr. Soedarto Pringgoutomo Sp.PA (1977‐1978), replaced by Ms. Karlinah Umar Wirahadikusumah (1978‐2006). Ms. Adia Arifin Siregar (2006‐2011) VISION: Cancer‐aware community
CARE is the keyword, with the following principles: Emphasizing that cancer is a community problem, that it should not only be the problem of the individual and his or her family.
Providing both moral and material support, according to each person’s need and our capability and capacity.
Providing protec on to those who are afflicted with cancer, by making them feel being supported and cared for, enhancing their spirit to find the best solu on in cancer treatment and to improve their quality of life. Organiza on division Social Services division Educa on&Informa on division Research & Cancer Registry division General Affairs division The Social Services Division is commi ed to provide community services, including early detec on programs, co‐payment for radia on in Cipto Mangunkusumo Na onal Hospital, surgery and distribu on of free cytosta c drugs for needy pa ents, and distribu on at ne price on oncologists’ prescrip on only.
In addi on, ICF also implements a suppor ve program for breast cancer pa ents, pa ents with stoma and terminal cancer pa ents as well. Early Detection Facility:

Supor ve Facility: In 1982 ICF established a hostel called “Sasana Marsudi Husada” (SMH) for outpa ents at Cipto Mangunkusumo Na onal Hospital who come from outside Jakarta where such treatment is not available. Hostels like SMH also exist in Bandung, Surabaya, Semarang, Palembang and Banjarmasin. Other suppor ve services: Hospice Home Care, a home visit service for terminal cancer pa ents
Reach to Recovery, for breast cancer pa ents who need medical, psychological, moral & emo onal support, informa on and other useful assistance to help them cope with their condi ons
Indonesian Ostomy Associa on (InOA) is an associa on of “ostomates” (pa ents who have had a stoma surgically formed as part of their cancer management). Some of InOA ac vi es are to distribute stoma bag aid and stoma services
Women Care for Cervical Cancer (PPKS) is suppor ng cervical cancer pa ents who need medical treatment, psychological, moral & emo onal support and informa on as well
ICF distributes cytosta c drugs only by oncologists’ prescrip on.
