Moeloek Ketua Umum The Indonesian Cancer Foundaon (ICF) is a social and humanitarian non‐profit organizaon with a specific interest in health issues, especially cancer. ICF objecves are to fight cancer through promoonal, prevenve and supporve acvies. Without the involvement of every individual and components of the society, controlling cancer cannot be successfully achieved. Our organizaon works in cooperaon with the government, professional organizaons, non‐governmental organizaons (NGO’s), business sectors and concerned individuals. ICF has chapters all over Indonesia. The ICF conducts various cancer control programs, priorizing on the 10 most common types of cancer in Indonesia: Cervical cancer Breast cancer Liver cancer Lung cancer Skin cancer Nasopharyngeal cancer Colorectal cancer Leukemia Malignant Trophoblast Disease Malignant Lymphoma. The problems in our effort to control the spread of cancer are the lack of community awareness about living a healthy lifestyle as a way to reduce the risk of cancer and the lack of informaon and access to early detecon of cancer. The consequence is that cancer is usually diagnosed at an advanced stage. This causes emoonal, physical and in most cases, financial burden for the cancer paents and their family. Peringatan 25 tahun YKI penggalangan dana Based on the concern over the increasing number of cancer paents, the lack of community’s knowledge and awareness on the disease and the high mortality rate, 17 public figures felt the need to establish the Indonesian Cancer Foundaon on the 17th of April 1977. ICF founders are among others: DR. Mohammad Haa Let. Jend. Ali Sadikin Prof. DR. G.A. Siwabessy Prof. Dr. Soedarto Pringgoutomo R. Satoto Hoepoedio Prof. Dr. Asmino DR. Arifin M. Siregar. ICF is registered under Indonesian Law and our logo and name are patented as well. First Chairman was Prof. Dr. Soedarto Pringgoutomo Sp.PA (1977‐1978), replaced by Ms. Karlinah Umar Wirahadikusumah (1978‐2006). Ms. Adia Arifin Siregar (2006‐2011) VISION: Cancer‐aware community CARE is the keyword, with the following principles: Emphasizing that cancer is a community problem, that it should not only be the problem of the individual and his or her family. Providing both moral and material support, according to each person’s need and our capability and capacity. Providing protecon to those who are afflicted with cancer, by making them feel being supported and cared for, enhancing their spirit to find the best soluon in cancer treatment and to improve their quality of life. MISSION: To increase public awareness in handling cancer by providing promoonal, prevenve and supporve acvies. ICF’s role in cancer control is by organizing various promoonal, prevenve, and supporve acvies emphasizing on the importance of early detecon of cancer. ICF’s moo is: “Cancer can be cured if detected at an early stage” ICF has 5 divisions to carry out its programs: Organizaon division Social Services division Educaon&Informaon division Research & Cancer Registry division General Affairs division The Social Services Division is commied to provide community services, including early detecon programs, co‐payment for radiaon in Cipto Mangunkusumo Naonal Hospital, surgery and distribuon of free cytostac drugs for needy paents, and distribuon at ne price on oncologists’ prescripon only. In addion, ICF also implements a supporve program for breast cancer paents, paents with stoma and terminal cancer paents as well. Early Detection Facility: Indonesian Cancer Foundaon clinic Jl. Suporve Facility: In 1982 ICF established a hostel called “Sasana Marsudi Husada” (SMH) for outpaents at Cipto Mangunkusumo Naonal Hospital who come from outside Jakarta where such treatment is not available. Hostels like SMH also exist in Bandung, Surabaya, Semarang, Palembang and Banjarmasin. Other supporve services: Hospice Home Care, a home visit service for terminal cancer paents Reach to Recovery, for breast cancer paents who need medical, psychological, moral & emoonal support, informaon and other useful assistance to help them cope with their condions Indonesian Ostomy Associaon (InOA) is an associaon of “ostomates” (paents who have had a stoma surgically formed as part of their cancer management). Some of InOA acvies are to distribute stoma bag aid and stoma services Women Care for Cervical Cancer (PPKS) is supporng cervical cancer paents who need medical treatment, psychological, moral & emoonal support and informaon as well ICF distributes cytostac drugs only by oncologists’ prescripon.
