March 15, 2020 † Third Sunday of Lent 3 Page 3 From Your Pastor’s Desk From Your Pastor’s Desk … To the generous and faithful people of Our Lady of Lourdes - Saint Adalbert Parish Our Second Collection Next Weekend is for Catholic Relief Services Catholic Relief Services is an organization within the that assists those throughout the world getting their basic human needs met; such as clean water, food and medical services. This organization also sponsors the annual Lenten Rice Bowl campaign. Your donations truly makes a difference in the lives of families and children living in poverty. The Pancake Man is at Saint Adalbert Church Basement TODAY! The Pancake Man is at Saint Adalbert’s Church today from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. Please plan on attending this fundraiser for our parish while enjoying a wonderful breakfast and visiting with other parishioners. They will also have a Bake Sale along with a Raffle. Your participation is greatly appreciated in the fundraiser! The Neighborhood of Park Avenue Recently, I attended a neighborhood meeting and was informed that 1 in 3 people living along Park Avenue are living below the US poverty line. We do not have to look very far to see people/families in need. Also, many of the children in Field Club School and even Our Lady of Lourdes School receive free and reduced lunch. Let’s be mindful of our brothers and sisters around us who are in need. Our Parish Saint Vincent DePaul Conference is Helping and Assisting Those in Need… When people/families call the Parish Office for assistance, we refer them to one of our parishioner volunteers who are part of our St. Vincent DePaul Conference. They make contact with the family and a home visit to as- sess the situation. Many are dealing with financial needs to help with utilities. We always encourage them to visit the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry or Wheeler Presbyterian Church every Monday morning for their food pantry give away. There are some occasions we assist a family by purchasing a bed for them instead of sleep- ing on the floor. All of this good work is supported by the generosity of our parishioners as they place dona- tions in the poor boxes in our churches. Please consider helping us help families and children in need. Mass Intentions for our 7:00 am Mass at Saint Adalbert Church are Available... We are in need of Mass intentions for the 7 am Mass Monday through Friday at Saint Adalbert Church. Please call the Parish Office and ask for Marcy and she can schedule Masses for your deceased family members and your living family members. Having a Mass offered for them is a wonderful tribute, asking God to bless them with graces in this “highest” form of prayer in the Catholic Church. The 2021 Mass Intention Book has Arrived! The 2021 Mass Intention Book has arrived in the Parish Office. If you would like to schedule Masses for your loved ones, please stop by the Parish Office and talk to Marcy, she will assist you with your requests. 2020 Our Lady of Lourdes-Saint Adalbert Parish Guide Book and Directory The 2020 Parish Guide and Directory will be submitted on April 20, 2020. I would like everyone to look at your information in the directory to see if we have the most current address, phone number and email for you. If you need to update this information (this way all of our parish members can connect with each other), please call Marcy at the Parish Office to make your changes. We are a parish “family” and we want to keep everyone connected as we grow together in the Faith of Jesus Christ! LAST CALL FOR ANY CORRECTIONS!!!!! The “Together in Christ” 2019-2020 Annual Appeal for the Omaha Catholic School Consortium The Omaha Catholic School Consortium’s “Together in Christ” Annual Appeal has a goal of $250,000 for the 2019-2020 school year. At the time this bulletin was printed, they had received $196,000 toward that goal. As your pastor, I have been part of the Advancement Team to assist in raising these funds so that our Tuition costs can remain manageable for our school families. We have received donations from $10 to $25,000 to- ward our 2019-2020 goal. If you would like to be part of the “Together in Christ” Appeal, please make your check payable to this Fund, and place it in an envelope and put it in the Sunday Collection basket. Please consider a gift to help keep our Catholic Elementary Schools going for future generations. Your Grateful Pastor, Father John L. Pietramale OUR LADY OF LOURDES-ST. We are so proud of the whole OLL Community for what our Youth Group accomplished at our first Homeless- ness Awareness Breakfast. We thank all of our OLL school families for their amazing support and countless food donations. This generosity of spirit enabled us to raise over $675 for the Stephen Center.

Our Lady of Lourdes School is continuing to monitor the situation with the COVID-19 (2019 novel corona- virus). We have been monitoring information from the CDC, the Douglas County Health Department, and the Catholic Schools Office. We will follow these guidelines to ensure safeguarding our students, staff and fami- lies. Currently, there are no reported cases in Douglas County or in the State of . This virus is new and as time progresses we will learn more about its symptoms and preventive measures.

Just a reminder, we will offer extended care of Pre-K students as well as K-8 students. If you know anyone looking for this option for their child, send them our way. We also have room for more kindergarteners so please refer people to our school!

Thanks so much and God bless you on your Lenten journey!
