Ryan Miller has had a hand in that success. Miller will likely be in net looking to win a sixth straight home game, as the Sabres face the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night. Buffalo (11-26-4) not only has the worst record in the league, its average of 1.63 goals ranks last - 0.60 behind Minnesota for 29th. The Sabres fell 4-1 at Minnesota on Thursday, losing their 11th straight on the road. "It's just one of those things where when we're bad, we're bad," interim coach Ted Nolan said. They've been very good at home, however, going 5-0-1 in their last six home games. They're averaging 2.75 goals to win four straight there for the first time since a five-game streak from Feb. 19-March 12, 2012. Miller has been superb at home, compiling a 1.34 goals-against average and .962 save percentage while winning his last five games in Buffalo. He last won six straight there from Nov. 13-Dec. 9, 2010. Miller, named to the U.S. Olympic team earlier this week, may have a chance to equal that run since he's 4-1-1 with a 1.60 GAA and a shutout over his last six home meetings with the Devils (17-17-8).

G Alex Stalock recorded the win with 27 saves through overtime and stopped all three shootout at- tempts. Iowa had its point streak snapped with a 4-2 loss against Chicago on Saturday at Allstate Arena (12/3). Forwards Adam Gilmour and Grayson Downing each registered a goal. D Nick Seeler, D Mike Reilly and F Marc Hagel tallied an assist apiece while Stalock made 21 saves. The Wild fell in its third contest of the week with a 3-1 loss against the Admirals at Wells Fargo Arena on Tuesday (12/6). Gilmour scored the lone goal for Iowa with assists from F Sam Anas and F Jeff Hoggan. Stalock stopped 31-of-34 shots. F Jordan Schroeder leads the Wild with 16 points (4-12=16) in 19 games this season and ranks T-13th in the AHL in assists. F Teemu Pulkkinen ranks second on the team with 15 points (8-7=15) and ranks T-10th in the league in PPG (4) and T-16th in goals.

    6th AnnuAl CongressionAl hoCkey ChAllenge benefitting theThurgood Marshall College Fund, Fort Dupont Ice Arena and Fort Dupont Ice Hockey Club MARCH 5, 2014 - KETTLER CAPITALS ICEPLEX ABOUT THE CONGRESSIONAL HOCKEY CHALLENGE On March 6, 2009, Congressional staff, Administration officials and lobbyists from a wide range of interests and The event continued to grow in 2012, when the NHL and the industries left behind their day jobs to join together for a little Thurgood Marshall College Fund established a new four-year fun on the ice to raise funds for the Fort Dupont Ice Hockey academic scholarship for participants of the NHL’s Hockey Club. The first game was played at Kettler Capitals Iceplex is for Everyone (HIFE) initiative. The scholarship provides and had a crowd of around 300 attendees. The Lawmakers opportunities for qualified HIFE participants to attend any won a hard-fought 6-4 victory on that first afternoon, thanks to two goals by Congressman Brian Higgins of Buffalo (D-NY). Thus was born the Congressional Hockey Challenge. All involved share a love of the game of ice hockey coupled with a desire to make it a more widely accessible sport. In a decidedly partisan town, this event brings together lawmakers and lobbyists, Republicans and Democrats, in a charity ice hockey game to raise money for worthy groups. In 2010, the event was moved to the Fort Dupont Ice Arena and garnered the support of the National Hockey League and the Washington Capitals. Over 500 crowded the stands to watch the game, and over $50,000 was raised for the Fort Dupont Ice Hockey Club and Fort Dupont Ice Arena.
