2016 Batavia High School Powder Puff – Rules

Powder Puff Football is intended to be an enjoyable event for participants and spectators. In an effort to insure participant safety and keep this event running on time as scheduled, new rules are being implemented for the 2016 Powder Puff Event.

1. Game Time: A. There will be two 15 minute halves; B. There will be a 5-minute half time; C. Teams are not allowed to call for time out; an automatic 1-minute time out will be given with 2 minutes remaining in each half; D. The game clock will also stop for a two-point conversion attempt (described below) following a scoring play and will begin again following the two-point conversion attempt/score.

2. There will be no kick-off. At the beginning of each half and after a scoring play, the will be placed on the 35-yard line of the team on offense.

3. Scoring: A. Each will count for 6 points; B. The scoring team will attempt a two-point conversion following a touchdown; this will be an untimed play;

4. Blitzing – players must count to 10 after the ball is snapped before attempting to blitz.

5. Once the ball/play enters the 10-yard line or red zone area outside of the , downs will no longer move forward. Each will move back 2 yards from the , i.e., if the first down from the 10- yard line fails, the line of scrimmage for the second down will be the 12- yard line; if the second down from the 12-yard line fails, the line of scrimmage will be the 14-yard line.

6. Penalties: A. There is NO TACKLING in powder puff football; B. It is understood that incidental contact can occur but participants to make every effort to avoid; C. A player is stopped only by her flag being pulled from the flag belt; D. If a player makes contact that is perceived by the officials, or sideline spotters as intentional, a 15-yard personal foul penalty will be assessed against that player’s team and that player will be removed from the game for 5 minutes of play. E. If a previously penalized player receives a second personal foul, that player will be removed from the game and will not be permitted to play for the remainder of the night.

7. In the event of a tie at the end of play time, the winner will be determined by a coin toss.
