4 ❦ INTRODUCTION

Shri Ambalal Muljibhai Patel, who had no other desire except seeking the Ultimate Truth, was blessed with Self-realization (Enlightenment) in July 1958. To all those aspirants, who met him and were willing to ponder over the eternal question of “Who am I ?”, he started imparting the knowledge of Self-realization by the process called “Gnan Vidhi”. His sayings, known as “Akram Vignan” included non-stop discourses in the forms of Q’s and A’s relating to the discussions on who we really are and who we are not, path to complete liberation. Scientific solutions to the perennial problems to our day-to-day life, and so on. His entire life had a singular aim : “May each and every being in the whole universe attain peace and happiness that I have experienced”. The fully Enlightened Pure Soul within Shri Ambalal Patel, is called “Dada Bhagvan”. Shri Ambalal Patel left this physical world on 2nd January 1988. He is within us all, as Absolute Divine Knowledge and Bliss–Enlightened Dada Bhagvan, our true form... Presently, Param Pujya Shri Kanubhai K. Patel. “Pure Love Personified” travels all around the world spreading Shri Dada Bhagvan’s message. Lovingly known as “Kanudadaji”, Gnani Purush Pujya Shri Kanudadaji is the spiritual beacon of light and the torch-bearer of Enlightened Dada Bhagvan and Jai Sacchidanand Sangh. He has been performing Gnan Vidhi - initiating an aspirant for self-realization. Pujya Shri Kanudadaji was in Nigeria (Lagos) as a part of His global tours in 1996, and had the opportunity to speak with Seva Magazine in Nigeria (Lagos) on a wide range of issues.

❦ 5 The following is the summary of the questions asked by a Seva Magazine journalist to Pujya Shri Kanudadaji :

Q. 1 What is the Jai Sacchidanand Sangh all about ? o Jai Sacchidanand Sangh is an organization started with the auspicious blessings of Shri Dada Bhagvan. Jai Sacchidanand Sangh is not a new religion, nor a cult, nor a system, but a universal message to humanity based on “faultless understanding” in general and practical solutions to day-to-day problems in particular. The message represents a unification of the non-partisan visions of all religions.

Q. 2 When was Jai Sacchidanand Sangh founded ? o Jai Sacchidanand Sangh has been functioning as a non-profit organization since 1973, with headquarters at , INDIA. The present address is : Mr. G. A. Shah - President (Overall) Near Vibhuti Society, Meera Cinema Road, Gokulnathji Chowk, Ahmedabad - 380028 Gujrat State, India

Q. 3 What are the basic teachings of Jai Sacchidanand Sangh ? o In addition to imparting the ultimate knowledge of self- realization to each aspirant, Dada Bhagvan revealed the nine principles for happy and blissful living. These nine principles also referred to, as “Nine Priceless Diamonds” are universal prayers and projections to the Pure Soul within (same as Enlightened “Dada Bhagvan” State) by an aspirant leading to permanent happiness. These prayers and projections are non-partisan in nature, developed at sub- microscopic level and are beyond the constraints of opinions and thoughts, let alone the curtains of caste, creed, religion and nationality. These projected prayers reflect the

6 ❦ fundamental laws of nature, with perfect balance to guide humanity. The understanding of all the laws of nature as applied to day-to-day living are also revealed by way aphorisms (Life Guiding Principles). Q. 4 Is it mandatory for members to follow the vegetarian way of life ? o The vegetarian way of life is essential for spiritual development and peaceful existence of a human being. The vegetarian way is a non-violent way. The vicious cycle of violence must be thoroughly understood in order to appreciate the vegetarian way of life, and reach a stable state of physical well-being. It leads to mental and spiritual stability — a necessary ingredient to uplift a human soul. This principle of non-violence (Ahimsa) is the basement for the rudimentary yet real progress towards the path of liberation, that is free from the bondage of worries and tensions. Q. 5 How do you define Seva ? o Seva is defined as imparting the ultimate knowledge to an aspirant of total Liberation (). Offering to others what you are seeking for your self (permanent happiness) is also called ‘Seva’. In relative way, one of the processes of ‘seva’ is the spreading of Shri Dada Bhagvan’s teachings and guidance through publication and distribution of spiritual books, audio/video of His Divine Discourses, etc. Dada’s books compiled from such audio/video discourses deal with solutions to daily entanglements and upliftment of a person’s inner beliefs towards the Ultimate Bliss. A direct result is the improvement in one’s personal life, and his/her behaviour with friends and family members and with all. Shri Dada Bhagvan said that the “real” knowledge must always be free of cost. He advised the Sangh to publish & ❦ 7 present the books with the price tag of “Total Humility and I know nothing.”

Q. 6 Is the organization involved in any humanitarian programs ? If yes, what are some of the programs in Nigeria (Lagos) and other parts of the world ? o Jai Sacchidanand Sangh is involved in spreading the knowledge of “faultless understanding” knowing the attributes of “doership”, and performing your duties on the foundation of ‘non-doership.’ As things happen, the affluent members are involved in a variety of humanitarian programs in all parts of the world including Nigeria and other African countries. Q. 7 As you travel around the world, what message do you give to the people ? o The message of Jai Sacchidanand Sangh is to know your True Self. In other words, it is a message of universal love and oneness through the knowledge of basic Laws of Nature governing one’s life. It includes, among other things, the understanding of one’s right belief, acceptance of the scientific theory of Cause and Effect as a part and parcel of the grand Natural Cosmic Force, and peaceful co-existence intertwined with pure love. Q. 8 In recent years, we have witnessed many spiritual leaders visiting us and giving us their blessings, even then we are witnessing a lot of social unrest and moral decay in the society. Then one wonders whether humanity/society is truly progressing spiritually ? o Shri Dada Bhagvan said : “The world is the puzzle itself. There are two view-points to solve this puzzle - (1) Relative and (2) Real”. The world will always witness various levels of social unrest etc. in the relative sense. Yet, the “real”

8 ❦ spiritual development of a society depends on the development of an individual. This is achievable only through a setup of the right belief and through knowledge of how the Enlightened Ones solve the puzzle of the relative world. As a good beginning, the reconstruction of an individual personality of a human being is achieved through the nine priceless diamonds or prayers. These prayers shall lead to understand the goal of higher strata of peaceful living. This is our main message for this relative world. Q. 9 What are your various projects for ? o Our projects are, as such, ‘Sanatan Sankar Setu’. They are bridges or links to lead well-meaning masses on to the other end of Purity, Nobility, Humanity, Amity, and Liberty from the stress, strain and suffering, illusion and ignorance. They are projects for connectivity to our culture that brings out the inherent divinity and lasting happiness, peace and bliss.

Q. 10 Thank you for visiting Nigeria and giving the essential knowledge to number of aspirants. We wish you a safe journey back to India. o Thank you. >> Jai Sacchidanand >>

❦ 9 PRINCIPLES OF BLISSFUL LIVING

The complexities of life require an immediate attention to have correct solutions to daily problems for the common man in society. The presence of ignorance and egotistic life, since time immemorial, has resulted in innumerable wrong beliefs which are no answers to the increasingly formidable situations in life. Dada emphasized the need for basic understanding of how this world functions in order to cease, and then reverse, the otherwise ever expanding spiral of bondage. Dada said that whether you want Self-Realization or not, as a human being, you must be a part of the solution and not of the problem. One must strive to be happy, but not at the cost of the happiness of others. Dada Bhagvan formulated simple principles of life in the form of practical aphorisms and mandates that are very effective in dealing positively in our day-to-day worldly life. These aphorisms fundamentally covered the principles of the Absolute Science of Pure Soul within. A few of them are as follow : q God is in every creature, whether visible or invisible, but not in man made creation” : Like it or not, God resides in every living being. When manifested fully, “the Soul” itself is the State of Godhood. So whom would you hurt ? In other words, do not hurt any living being as you are dealing with a living God within. So, Dada mandated not to hurt any living being through any means — that is by mind, body and speech. Living a life with such utmost humility, one shall live a very blissful life. q “Introspection–shoot on sight faults within” : Knowingly or unknowingly, if you have hurt someone, accept your mistakes, remember God you believe in and ask for

10 ❦ forgiveness there and then, and finally decide not to repeat such a mistake again. q “The world is your own projection” : What you see, feel, hear or receive is the echo of your own doings. Hence, you get what you have given previously. With this simple principle in mind, there shall not be any complaints against any body. The world is in the form of circumstances and you shall be ably prepared within, to accept every happening as correct and just. q “The sufferer is at fault” : Recognize without a doubt that Nature is very balanced and just in its dealings with all, in every aspect of life. So you will not be punished if it is not your fault. Conversely, if you are suffering, then it must be your fault despite the circumstantial evidences that suggest otherwise. Accept your own fault with this understanding, ask for forgiveness and do not brood over revenge. q “Adjust Everywhere” : Whatever be the situation or circumstances, if you just adjust, you will avoid clashes. This is the sure way to be happy. If one has got the key adjusting himself, one has definitely marked his first step towards peace, happiness and finally towards complete independence. q “Result of Stealing is Hard Work” : You will earn your living easily, if you do not steal through your mind, speech and actions. q “Dishonesty is the best foolishness” : Those who are dishonest to their boss, to their spouse, to their children, to their parents, to their job or to their friends are committing the best foolishness of their life. Honesty is required to take one at the top of sincerity and morality.

❦ 11 q “If you want others to listen to you” : Do not speak harsh language, do not speak too much, do not speak lies, do not make fun of others, talk only that which is beneficial to others and what you would like to be talked to by others. q “All circumstances are nothing but passing phases of life” : If one is too much attached to any event or individual, he will feel hurt when it passes away. However, a dramatic display of attachment is necessary for a normal interaction. l “Don’t see laws; please settle” : To free yourself from any situation, it is wise to resolve issues without sticking onto the perceived, prevailing laws as correct.

12 ❦ UNIVERSAL PRAYERS TOWARDS SELF - REALIZATION

There is a fundamental unity of purpose among all people as they constantly ask the same basic questions such as “What is the purpose of human life ?” “How does one reach one’s spiritual goals ?” “What are the obstacles in the path ?” and “What, if any, is the real solution ?” In this format, each human defines religion. Consequently, it is the way in which these questions are answered reflects the uniqueness and diversity of a path. In the path of liberation, the hearty desire of one to attain Self-Realization is at the root of the solution to these age-old questions. Performing a simple analysis, Dada Bhagvan summarized that, in today’s times, a man experiences two major setbacks in his life. Firstly he craves for numerous things in life and strives very hard to obtain them. However, these are not favourable times. So, either he fails to get them or gets them with his immense efforts. Secondly he wants to be recognized by and be in the company of noble and wise people. He tries hard, but eventually fails. The reason is because of the ignorance, man has laid obstacles in his own path by laying obstacles in others’ lives. In return, he has to strive hard to swallow his own spit. Knowingly or unknowingly, he has done Viradhana (talking bad, cursing, etc. etc.) to others, hence the result. Dada shows the functioning of “Nature” through His Divine Vision and could precisely develop the cause (free will) and effect (Fate, Luck, and Destiny) relationship of all the happenings in one’s life. To overcome these setbacks and to prepare oneself towards liberation from such a bondage, Dada formulated concise “Universal” prayers encompassing fundamental principles of all the religions and essence of all Holy Scriptures known to mankind today. To get started, one is advised to recite these prayers daily and with deep inner hearty feeling (Bhav). They are not for ritualistic practice. The prayers are as follow : Nine Priceless Diamonds : Code of Conduct Prayer to the Pure Soul ❛ And Preparatory Aphorisms for Self-Realization ❜

❦ 13 NINE PRICELESS DIAMONDS : CODE OF CONDUCT

EXPLANATION : This has to be solicited and sought, at least once a day, from Dada Bhagvan which is your very pure soul within or Deity of your faith. This should not slip into as a daily routine of recital, but has to be borne heartily within. This has to be practiced sincerely, with attentive alertness, in day-to-day living. This code of conduct is the epitome of all the scriptures, that got revealed in and for today’s times through the medium of the Divine Manifested State of “Dada Bhagvan.” 1. O Dada Bhagvan ! Please bless me with an infinite inner strength as would restrain me from hurting, causing someone to hurt or supporting someone hurting, even slightly, the ego of any living being. Please bless me with an infinite inner strength in the philosophy of Relative Pluralism of speech, conduct and thinking as would restrain me from hurting, causing someone to hurt or supporting someone to hurt or supporting someone hurting, even slightly, the ego of any living being. 2. O Dada Bhagvan ! Please bless me with infinite inner strength as would restrain me from hurting, causing someone to hurt or supporting someone hurting, even slightly, the authenticity of any religion. Please bless me with an infinite inner strength in the Philosophy of Relative Pluralism of speech, conduct and thinking as would restrain me from hurting, causing someone to hurt or supporting someone hurting, even slightly, the authenticity of any religion. 3. O Dada Bhagvan ! Please bless me with an infinite inner strength as would restrain me from enacting any verbal wrangle, misdeed, misconduct to any living preacher, monk, nun or religious head.

O Dada Bhagvan ! Please bless me with an infinite inner strength for being instrumental in establishing ‘Real’ well-being in the relative world.

❦ 15 PRAYER TO THE PURE SOUL EXPLANATION : The Pure Soul is the Universal God residing in every living being. When manifested fully (which is possible only in the human form), the individual naturally becomes a universal guide for the mankind. Such Accomplished and Manifested Enlightened Souls in the past became instrumental in spreading the message of peace, love and universal brotherhood to the people of the relative world. In today’s times, Dada Bhagvan accomplished the same and in His Manifested State gave a Universal Prayer for everyone desirous of inner peace, love and universal brotherhood : “O Pure Soul ! You reside in every living being just as you reside within me. Your Divine Self is my “True Self” identity. My “Self” identity is “Pure Soul”. O Pure Soul ! I, the name bearer, offer my humble salutation to you with an ardent desire of attaining oneness with you. I openly offer apology for all the sins and misdeeds * * that I have committed in my ignorant state. With my sincere heart-felt confession, I sincerely repent for all these sins and I humbly beg for your divine pardon. O Pure Soul ! Please forgive me and bestow me with an infinite inner strength, so that I never ever repeat these sins again. O Pure Soul ! Please have compassion on me, so that, my separation with your Divine Self disintegrates, and I may continuously experience oneness with You.”

(The asterik mark ** refers to the mistakes committed.)

16 ❦ PREPARATORY APHORISMS FOR SELF-REALIZATION

(Note : Figures in the brackets indicate repetition of the aphorisms such number of times)

O Dada Bhagvan, here below are the Aphorisms, perceived by you in Your Immaculate Vision of the Absolute Knowledge and verbalized by your Divine-Self. o “Amidst all the emotions of mind, speech, physique, prone to be tainted, Pure Self remains altogether non- tainted.” (3)

o “Amidst all the actions existing along with mind, speech physique, prone to be conditioned, Pure Self remains altogether non-conditioned.” (3)

o “Pure Self is aware of the habits and propensities (nature) of mind, speech and physique; for IIIumined Pure Self illumines Itself as well as the Non-self–mind, speech and physique.” (3)

o “The Eater eats and Non-eater, Pure Self, just knows it.” (3)

o “Gross (physical) circumstances, subtle (mind) circumstances and speech producing circumstances are extraneous to the Real Self and they are subject to the Non-self; and the Pure Self remains simply their Knower- Perceiver.” (3)

o “Amidst all the mundane phases, ranging from the grossest to the subtlest, the Pure Self remains simply Knower-Perceiver, Immiscible and Bliss Itself. (3)

❦ 17 o “All the phases of mind, speech, and physique are only a ‘Scientific Circumstantial Evidence’, the creation of which is ‘fathered’ by none; and it is all ‘Vyavasthita’ - ‘The Computerized Cosmic Schedule.’ (3) o “Not a single attribute of the Non-self or Mechanical Consciousness does the Pure Self have; and not a single attribute of the Pure Self does the Non-self have. Both are in every respect poles apart.” (3) o “Those mutable tendencies are of the Mechanical-self, and certainly not of the Immutable Pure Self.” (3) O God ! “These only” in accordance with the above aphorisms, are the appropriate attributes of the Pure Self. But owing to illusion and delusion, I have not been able to comprehend “them” in truest spirit and sense. For, surveying within detachedly have I come to discover that the inner turbulence, anguish and turmoil have still not disappeared from me.

O God Almighty ! Bless me with the infinite strength to put an end to the inner conflict. Now that I have no other aspiration, save realizing the right attributes of Pure Self, I am ardently desirous of Liberation only. To that end, I aspire that I remain in true humility towards the Self Realized Souls and in devotional deference to the Gnani Dada Bhagvan (the Omni-science Manifest) and in the sincere spirit of “I know-not-anything”.

I fail to pin my faith in, and perceive the truth of, the above aphorisms. Only if I assimilate them in me with faith ferverent shall I feel that I have ‘Samyak Darshan’ or the Right Perception. This calls for only two things :

o “Spiritual sincerity to the tune : I am an earnest aspirant of knowing the Ultimate Reality.

18 ❦ o The Ultimate Reality is attainable only through undivided devotion to the Dictates of the Gnani. There is no way, except the direct communion with Gnani, therefore I solemnly resolve that I be in quest of the Gnani and on gaining the occasion of communion with the Gnani, I be in devout devotion to His dictates. May this aspiration of mine come true. A prospective aspirant desirous of achieving Self Realization through Akram Vignan may prepare himself by performing “the above Universal Prayers” regularly.

❦ 19 Dada Bhagvan o A Glimpse of His Life o

Ambalal Muljibhai Patel was born on 8th November, 1908 in Tarsali, a small village near . Gujarat, India. As this child grew up, he proved different from other children. Though he was known for his pranks and mischief, he had qualities of a superhuman ever since childhood. At the age of thirteen he served one saint who had come to his village. The saint blessed him saying, “May God gift you with liberation.” Immediately this young child exclaimed, “I don’t want that liberation, if God is to give it to me.” ‘Given by him’ means ‘he is my boss and he can take it back when he desires so’. Liberation itself means “a state where there is no boss, no underhand.” In a school, while teaching a sum of L.C.M., a teacher asked, ‘Find out the smallest number which is indivisible further and present in all the given figures as a common factor’. Ambalal, just a school child then immediately responded saying, “Sir, I have found God from this. God is present in all creatures and is indivisible.” His mother, Zaverba, too was by character, of different metal. She used to teach little Ambalal, “Bear it, my child, if someone beats you, but don’t beat back in reply. If you are injured, I am there to dress you and take care of you, but there may be none to take care of the other child you injure.” He had from the beginning obliging nature. He was always ready to help others and solve others’ difficulties. He had hardly thought and lived for himself. In business he used to say, “We may starve

20 ❦ but we will not be dishonest by using less cement or steel in the construction. In a building, cement and steel are like blood and bones in our body.” He was married to Hiraba at his young age of 15. Hiraba lost her one eye in young age. After sometime relatives started asking him if he was interested in remarriage. He replied, “I have promised to care for her in presence of sacred fire and I would keep that promise till my last breath. I would care for her even if she loses both her eyes.” As a husband also he proved himself singular by not having a single dispute with Hiraba throughout his life. Having no other desire except seeking the ultimate truth, he was blessed with Self-realisation (Enlightenment) in July, 1958. Since 1962, he had started imparting knowledge of self-realisation to aspirants. His sayings not only include talks about soul and liberation but also throw light on all the corners of day-to-day life. Husband-wife relation, parent-child problems, opinions, prejudices, almost all topics under the sun have been talked about and discussed in detail. And that too in a very simple, straightforward, lucid, touching language. His entire life was lived with a singular aim, “May the whole world attain such peace and happiness as I have obtained.” Dada Bhagvan left us for good on 2nd January, 1988. He is no more amidst us physically but his unique divine knowledge is here to show us the path to liberation for hundreds of years to come.

Today Param Pujya Shri Kanudadaji, ❛ ‘Pure Love Personafied’, moves all over India and abroad, performing the Gnan Vidhi - initiating the aspirants for Liberation. He is the Matchless Master of ‘AKRAM Vignan’ and Divine Director of Jai Sacchidanand Sangh. ❜ ❦ 21 Param Pujya Kanudadashri... Param Pujya Kanudadashri is today the Torch-bearer of Akram Vignan. He is the Living Lyric of Pure Love. He is the Atma Gnani Purush whose Humility [Laghutamta] & Non- attachment [Vitaragata] are singularly striking. A civil engineer [B.E.] of early fifty's & a building contractor by profession, he was intrinsically and temperamentally engaged in the pursuit of Perfect Transparent Purity, following the footsteps of Dada Bhagvan. Growing up in Dada's loving lap & later paving the radiant path of His Spiritual Renovation into a Mobile Shrine of Absolutism under Dada's beatific, divining & discerning eyes, he, as a consequence whereof, emerged as the Existing Essence of Akram Vignan. His has been the Intense Imperceptible Penance. Never has any streak or strain of the worldly phases, favourable or unfavourable, been seen on his all-the- time calm, composed, smiling complexion - Oh, the Vitaragata of the Gnani Purush ! Sampujya Dada Bhagvan has bestowed His infinite blessing & grace, and has also given him ‘Agna’ to further this Akram Vignan and quench the thirst of the inquisitive souls. He is the Spiritual Leader of Jai Sacchidanand Sangh. At present, he traverses all over the world, imparting ‘Akram Vignan' to thousands of aspirants. Param Pujya Kanudadashri is a Gnani Purush — a fully Self-realised Soul whose Radiance transcends all the barriers. Wherever he may be, his Presence & Grace get unfailingly experienced by all who seek ‘the Light' from him. In his benign presence, one experiences one’s Real Self–Pure Soul, brimming with Bliss within, totally free from worldly stress & tension. In humility, purity & amity, he today stands second to none. Blessed are we to have him around us as the Ultimate Guide of The Inner Science – Akram Vignan.

22 ❦ WHAT, THEN, IS THIS “DADA BHAGVAN” ?

‘This one’ that is now manifest to your mortal eyes — is he ‘Dada Bhagvan ?’... No, no, he isn’t ‘Dada Bhagvan’. He is just an A. M. Patel of Bhadran in Dist. Kheda (GUJARAT) INDIA. ‘THAT’ which is revealed and radiant within is “Dada Bhagvan” ! And, what are the characteristics for His identification ? Well, they are : o Gnan : Total Self - realization; Absolutism o Darshan : Complete Oneness with the Pureself o Charitra : Conduct inescapably and irreproachably reflecting the Self-realization o Tap : Penance, Imperceptible and Incessant

And THAT which ensues as an experience of these characteristics is “DADA BHAGVAN’’.

And ‘this one’ is only a Patel. This bubble may burst some day and lose its existence in the endless expanse of eternity. But none or nothing can cause Dada Bhagvan to lose His Eternal Existence and Essence.

For, “Dada Bhagvan” is too subtle and invisible. And this “Dada Bhagvan” dwells within you, too, in the form of Gnan, Darshan, Charitra and Tap ! And ‘THAT’ you yourself are

‘THAT’ verily is your ‘Self-Identity’ !
