Music During Veneration of the Cross

Stabat Mater, Dolorosa At the Cross her station keeping, Stood the mournful Mother weeping, Close to her Son to the last. Ah, Holy Jesus Ah, holy Jesus, how hast thou offended, that we to judge thee have in hate pretended? By foes derided, by thine own rejected, O most afflicted!

For me, kind Jesus, was thy incarnation, thy mortal sorrow, and thy life's oblation; thy death of anguish and thy bitter passion, for my salvation. Therefore, kind Jesus, since I cannot pay thee, I do adore thee, and will ever pray thee, think on thy pity and thy love unswerving, not my deserving.

O Sacred Head Surrounded bereaving you of life; O sacred head, surrounded O agony and dying! by crown of piercing thorn! O love to sinners free! O bleeding head, so wounded, Jesus, all grace supplying, reviled and put to scorn! O turn your face on me. The pow'r of death comes o'er you, the glow of life decays, In this your bitter passion, Yet angel-hosts adore thee, Good Shepherd, think of me. and tremble as they gaze. With your most sweet compassion, unworthy though I be: I see your strength and vigor Beneath your cross abiding all fading in the strife, for ever would I rest, And death with cruel rigor, In your dear love confiding, Communion Anthem: Jesus, My Lord, My God, My All Jesus! my Lord, my God, my all! How can I love Thee as I ought? And, how revere this wondrous gift, so far surpassing hope or thought? Sweet Sacrament! We Thee adore! O, make us love Thee more and more! My Jesus, Had I but Mary's sinless heart I believe that you are truly present to love Thee with, my dearest King! in the Most Blessed Sacrament. O with what bursts of fervent praise I love You above all things and I desire to thy goodness, Jesus, would I sing! possess You within my soul. Sweet Sacrament! We Thee adore! Since I am unable at this moment O, make us love Thee more and more! to receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. Post Communion Hymn: Jesus, Remember Me I embrace You as being already there, Jesus, remember me, when you come into your kingdom. and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from Closing Prayer You. Amen. 2
