he Asia Pacific Brands Foundation, whose Patron is the former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, has named the Curve as the Best TBrand in its 2009 Retail Mall Category.
The award was presented to our Deputy Chairman/Group Managing Director, Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Lodin Wok Kamaruddin on 8 January 2010 at a gala dinner held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Kuala Lumpur by the former Minister of International Trade and Industry, Y.B. Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz.
This is the second major award the Curve has won for 2009. It was named the ‘Winning Project for the Retail Development Category’ at the prestigious FIABCI Malaysia Property Award 2009 last November. ll

oustead Holdings Berhad recently signed a Share Purchase Agreement Bto dispose of its 80% stake in BH Insurance (M) Berhad for RM363 million to AXA Affin General Insurance Berhad, a subsidiary of Affin Holdings Berhad. The move is in line with the Group’s decision to streamline its insurance business.
The signing ceremony took place at The Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur on 2 March 2010. Signing on behalf of Boustead was Deputy Chairman/Group Managing Director, Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Lodin Wok Kamaruddin while AXA Affin was represented by its President and CEO, Mr. Jahanath Muthusamy.
Felda Marketing Services Sdn. Bhd. which owns 20% of BH Insurance also disposed of its shares to AXA Affin and in exchange, it has now taken up a 16% equity in the business. Felda was represented by its Director, En. Ramli Putih.
Other parties signing the relevant agreements at the ceremony were AXA S.A. and Affin Holdings Berhad. everal members of the Board of Directors of UAC Berhad Spaid a visit to the Ipoh factory on 26 October 2009. The primary objective of the visit was for Board Members to be updated on the factory operations, progress on Research and Development (R & D) initiatives and to have a better understanding of prevailing operational and market challenges. It was also an opportunity for visiting members of the Board to get better acquainted with senior employees and operational issues at the Ipoh factory.
Upon arrival, the directors were greeted by Mr. Koo Hock Fee, Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director and his Senior Management Team. This was followed by a briefing session by several senior managers after the welcoming address by Mr. Koo. Mr. James Tang, General Manager, Sales and Marketing briefed the directors on domestic and export market prospects and challenges followed by a briefing by Dr. Ooi Kay Eng on product applications and other R & D activities. After the briefing session, the directors toured the factory and viewed R & D and other operational activities.

Bhd.’s factory in Nilai for a half day presentation on Sissons paint products.
The presentation held on 31 December 2009 was part of the company’s ongoing programme to promote its paint products to future architects. The students and lecturers were generally briefed on paint subjects including common paint problems and remedies, the correct painting methods, A student trying her hand at painting the right choice of paint colours etc. A paint demonstration was also conducted, followed by a tour of the factory. The demonstration received positive feedbacks from the students and lecturers.
A similar presentation was also held for Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) Negeri Sembilan on 23 February 2010. It was attended by 42 participants comprising Building/Road Engineers, Assistant Engineers, Technicians and Draftsmen from all the nine districts in Negeri Sembilan. Movie Fan.tasy Fest (3 - 14 December 2009) t was every movie buffs’ dream come true when e@Curve held its first ever Movie Fan.tasy Fest in December last year. The Movie Fan.tasy Fest ran for Iten days, showcasing six of the biggest blockbuster movies – Avatar, Alvin & The Chipmunks 2, Storm Warriors 2, Toothfairy, Sherlock Holmes and Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
The movie festival entertained patrons with live character appearances, great movie previews, competitions and even gave out free limited merchandises. One of the most show-stopping events was a 10-feet tall replica of 'Jake' and 'Neytiri' from the movie Avatar. There was also a special appearance by Alvin & The Chipmunks mascots, which attracted both the young and old who grabbed the chance to snap photos with their favourite musical characters.
The festival was a huge success and patrons can expect more of this in the future!
MDCC New Year Party (31 December 2009 – 1 January 2010) s 2009 made way for an even better 2010, Mutiara Damansara Commercial Centre (MDCC) hosted a rocking party to usher in the New Year. Hosted by the ever-popular Joey G and international model Kylie Chapman, the AMDCC New Year Party 2010 was featured in true MTV style complete with a mosh pit reserved for the first 100 party-goers who decided to usher in the New Year at Mutiara Damansara. To make the celebration even sweeter, each of these 100 party-goers received a special gift courtesy of MDCC (the Curve, IKEA, IKANO Power Centre and e@Curve).
The party featured a string of exciting performances by popular artists including Faizal Tahir, Jaclyn Victor, Meet Uncle Hussain, Jym, Kay, Diplomats of Drums and KLDC. To add spice to the event, there were also energetic dance routines as well as a unique aerialist performance.
At the stroke of midnight, party-goers ushered in the New Year in a unique and memorable fashion. As the clock chimed 12, Mutiara Damansara played host to an impressive fireworks display which mesmerised everyone.
Cherry-ish Blossom (22 January – 15 February 2010) ith this Chinese New Year of the Tiger coincided with Valentine’s Day, e@Curve had initiated a 'Cherry-ish Blossom' campaign which was Waimed to rejoice these two joyous occasions. The campaign featured a string of exciting activities, including acrobatic lion dance on high poles, Chinese Orchestra, and a seasonal market offering affordable gifts for our loved ones, Valentine’s Day Get Together and Cherry- ish Blossom promotion. The Grand Prize winner was announced in an exclusive Valentine’s Day event on 10 February 2010.
