11 February 2021 Events Return Across Queensland
View past editions of Eye on Q 11 February 2021 Events return across Queensland Events are certainly Good to Go in Queensland, as yet another busy week of announcements continue to highlight the importance of events to the state's visitor economy. Set to bring visitors from all over the country to their host destinations and stimulate local economies, as well as provide a platform for tourism promotion, dates are live and ticket sales and registrations are now open for the NRL Magic Round (14 - 16 May 2021) and the Gold Coast Marathon (3 - 4 July 2021). Yesterday it was announced that Cairns will host an International Basketball Federation (FIBA) qualifying match between the Australian Boomers and New Zealand Tall Blacks next week, and an event was announced this morning for the Whitsundays – ‘White on Whitehaven’ will become one of the hottest tickets around as visitors can wine and dine on delectable local produce with their toes in the white sands of Whitehaven Beach. The future is also bright as event organisers continue to plan for international events, and the 2026 UCI BMX World Championships this week announced with Brisbane as the host. Supporting events is a key part of TEQ’s strategy to drive visitation to, and around, the state, giving visitors an additional reason to book a Queensland getaway and generating significant spend with tourism operators in the host destinations. Morning TV shines spotlight on Queensland With Queensland’s border back open to Greater Sydney, TEQ organised for the TODAY Show team to broadcast from the Sunshine State as soon as possible. -

Capital Visit for the Cameras
The Online Welsh Rugby Championship has been devised and created by All Wales Sport Ltd. The Online Welsh Rugby Championship - Saturday Preview by Ian Davies - chief Rugby writer Capital visit for the cameras Premiership giants Cardiff play their last league game at home in the online season, and there to stream 'live' the Pool 8 clash against South Wales Police will be Rajasthan TV Channel 2. '' Cardiff are one of the great clubs in world rugby and have provided more players for the Welsh national team and the British & Irish Lions than any other in Wales, '' said Mr. I. M. Bean, who is head of sport at the channel. It all started in 1876 when Cardiff Rugby Football Club was founded following a meeting at Swiss Hall, Queen Street, when the amalgamation of two clubs, Glamorgan and Cardiff Wanderers was agreed. The first competitive game was played at Wentloog Marshes on 2nd December that year. The first home game was played at Sophia Gardens, but the club soon relocated to its famous ground at Cardiff Arms Park which was named after the local Cardiff Arms public house and on the grounds of the old Cardiff Hotel. Cardiff's iconic home was soon to be shared by Wales, who staged internationals on the ground from 12th April, 1884 until 15th March,1997. Wales beat Ireland by two tries and a dropped goal to nil in their first international at Cardiff Arms Park, but lost their last one 34-13 against England. In 1999 the National Stadium, Cardiff Arms Park, as it was officially known, was replaced by the Millennium (Principality). -
