Mclaren M838T Media information 10.00 BST, 18 June 2015 McLAREN M838T ENGINE SECURES THIRD SUCCESSIVE TITLE AT INTERNATIONAL ENGINE OF THE YEAR AWARDS The M838T engine from McLaren Automotive has retained the prestigious ‘3-litre to 4- litre’ title at the 2015 Engine of the Year awards. This achievement marks a third successive victory for the highly-efficient twin turbo engine fitted to the core models in the McLaren Super Series, the groundbreaking 650S Coupé and 650S Spider. The 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 petrol engine has been designed and developed by McLaren in collaboration with Ricardo and has undergone significant changes further to the introduction of the McLaren 650S in 2014. Producing, as the name suggests, 650PS (641bhp) and 678Nm (500lb ft) of torque, the engine accelerates from 0 to 62mph (100 km/h) in 3.0 seconds, but is as focused on efficiency as it is on power. The 650S returns 24.2mpg (11.7 l/100km) on the EU combined cycle, emissions of just 275g/km, and is exempt from gas guzzler tax in North America. The M838T engine in the 650S Coupé and Spider is exclusively filled with Mobil 1 New Life™ 0W-40. The high technology engine lubricant has an optimum combination of synthetic base oils designed to meet the high performance engine demands. Now in its 17th year, the International Engine of the Year Awards were presented at Engine Expo 2015, and voted for by an independent panel of leading automotive journalists from around the globe. Commenting on the M838T engine, Tom Wilson, freelance journalist and International Engine of the Year judge summarised: ’McLaren’s twice-turboed 3.8 engine outclasses its lofty competition so much in sheer output that it’s tough to ignore.’ Richard Farquhar, Head of Powertrain and Davide Bizzarri, Powertrain Control Manager from McLaren Automotive received the award following a ceremony in Stuttgart, Germany. The M838T is a wonderful piece of powertrain engineering and has enjoyed tremendous success from the outset.     MEDIA Media Information 10 April 2017 — Victory for Parente headlines double podium for McLaren 650S GT3 at Long Beach McLaren Factory Driver Alvaro Parente continued his strong start to the 2017 Pirelli World Challenge season on the streets of Long Beach California, breaking the lap record to score pole position, before claiming a lights-to-flag victory. Close behind the reigning champion, K-PAX Racing’s Bryan Sellers teammate secured the final podium position in the #6 650S GT3. During qualifying, Parente set a time of 1m 18.883s in the #9 K-PAX Racing 650S GT3, to score pole position by exactly a tenth of a second. This lap broke his own lap record which was set during the same session last year. From the front of the grid, the Portuguese driver could control proceedings during the 50-minute sprint race around the tight and twisty 3.1-km street course, creating healthy margins at each of the three restarts. A burst water pipe on the back straight caused a prolonged red flag period after 10 laps of racing, but Parente remained calm and in control on the restart, steadily building a 1.7-second lead. A Full-Course Yellow was then called a handful of laps later for an on-track incident at the final hairpin. When the action resumed once again, the 2016 PWC champion pulled out a gap to the rest of the field one final time, crossing the line in style to score his second win of the season, and his second in as many races at Long Beach.

Only 50 examples were manufactured, 49 finished in metallic Sarthe Grey inspired by the livery of the Le Mans race-winning McLaren F1 GTR and only 1, this car #5474, in Harrods Yellow an homage to the 3rd place Harrods F1GTR. Designed by MSO in consultation with Peter Stevens, the designer of the iconic McLaren F1, the McLaren 650S Le Mans takes a number of details from the 1995 race-winner, most notably the roof-mounted ‘snorkel’ air intake. This fully-integrated ‘snorkel’ channels increased airflow to the familiar McLaren 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 engine, whilst also providing enhanced aural drama within the cabin. The unique ‘Le Mans Edition’ lightweight wheels, 19 inch at the front, 20 inch at the rear, are styled after the motorsport rims fitted to the 1995 GTR racers. These wear the McLaren developed Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres and house carbon ceramic brakes. The front wings feature subtle louvres to reduce pressure over the front wheels increasing downforce. Commenting on the McLaren 650S Le Mans, Stevens says: “With a mix mounted air intake.
