What is Anciuti Academy

Anciuti Academy is an intensive, highly specialized masterclass dedicated to the study of double-reed instruments, in particular the Oboe and the Bassoon, which will take place in Forni di Sopra (Italy) from 23 to 28 August 2021. Every year Anciuti Academy offers a different training opportunity: in the 2021 edition, in addition to individual instrument lessons, a Music Workshop for Double Reed Ensemble and a Chamber Music Workshop with piano will be offered, dedicated to the original repertoire for oboe and bassoon from the Romantic and Modern period.

HOW THE MASTERCLASS IS ORGANIZED

Individual lessons Depending on the modality chosen (Custom or Pro), each student will be guaranteed 2 or 4 individual instrument lessons, lasting 60 'with the two referred teachers.

Music Workshop for Double Reed Ensemble Ensembles of double reeds (trios, quartets, etc.) and a band of oboes and bassoons will be formed with all the students of Anciuti Academy, who will perform in the scheduled concerts.

Chamber music workshop with piano For students who have chosen the Pro mode, it will be possible to deepen the original repertoire of the Romantic and Contemporary period for oboe, bassoon and piano (Sonatas, Trios). An accompanying pianist will be made available for two 60' lessons with with the referred teacher.

Further didactic activities are planned (Workshop on reed making, Orchestral excerpts) and will be organized according to the request and the level of the students. Food&Accomodation

PAOLO POLLASTRI

Since 1990 Paolo Pollastri has been Solo Oboe of Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. Born in in 1960, he graduated with full marks under the guidance of S. Gallesi, then completed his studies at the Chigiana Academy with L. Faber (Diploma of Honor 1977) and at the Brussels Conservatory with P. Dombrecht (Premier Prix in Modern and Baroque Oboe 1982) Winner of numerous national and international competitions, he was Principal Oboe of numerous orchestras (OGI - Italian Youth Orchestra 1977, Teatro Comunale di Genova 1979, RAI Orchestra of Rome 1981, ORT - Orchestra della Toscana 1982-1990) and has carried out solo activity as well as that with the ORT and Academia Bizantina, I Virtuosi Italiani, the Symphonia Perusina, participating in the Festivals of Salzburg, Montreaux, Zagreb and Belgrade, Martigny and Vevey, Paris, Toulouse, Stuttgart, Lucerne, Edinburgh, Sidney, Melbourne and Canberra , Tel Aviv ... He has worked in chamber music with the pianists M.W.Chung, A.Pappano, A.Lonquich, M.Campanella, with the Chicago String Trio, the Quartet, with the Twentieth Century Wind Quintet and the Italian Wind Ensemble . At the same time he devoted himself to ancient instruments, and played under the direction of F. Bruggen, A. Curtis, T. Haselblock, R. Gatti, F. Biondi and as a soloist with G.Leonhardt, Ch.Hogwood, R.Norrington, N.Roger, R.Kohnen, J.Rifkin, S.Vartolo, R.Alessandrini, F.M.Sardelli, C. Chiarappa, S.Montanari, A. De Marchi…. He has recorded more than 200 CDs for Erato, Emi France, Denon, Tactus, Fonè, Sound Materials, Music Image, Europa Music, Arts, Stradivarius, Brilliant and Naive. Two cd with Modo Antiquo received the Nomination for the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles in 1997 and 2000. He is the only Italian oboist to have recorded the Sequenza VII for Oboe solo by L.Berio under the supervision of the Maestro, the Solo for Musetta, Oboe, Oboe d'amore and English horn by B. Maderna, and recently with The Strings of Santa Cecilia Gabriel's Oboe by Ennio Morricone. He has had numerous conducting experiences, at the head of wind groups, with the Orchestra of Radio Montebeni, with the Orchestra Sinfonica de Friuli Venezia Giulia, with the Ensemble Musica Rara of with the JuniOrchestra and with the Accademia Barocca di S. Cecilia.

FABIEN THOUAND

In 1996 Fabien Thouand was awarded first prize from the Conservatoire National de Region de Paris, where he studied with Jean-Claude Jaboulay. He then pursued his studies at the CNSM de Paris, initially under the guidance of Jacques Tys and Jean-Louis Capezzali, winning first prize unanimously in 2000, and then partaking in the masters course with Maurice Bourgue the following year. In 2001 Thouand won 2nd prize in the Spring International Music Competition and the 3rd prize in the Giuseppe Tomassini international competition in Petritoli. He was awarded the 3rd prize at the Toulon Wind Instruments International Competition in May 2002. Since then he has pursued a career in France and abroad, specializing in the field of orchestral and chamber repertoire. As a soloist, he has been invited to perform with orchestras including the ones of La Monnaie (Bruxelles), Bayerischer Rundfunk Symphonie Orchester, London Symphony Orchestra, Bayerische Staatsoper (Munich), Opera de Lyon, Bamberger Symphoniker, Camerata Salzburg as well as the Toulouse National Chamber Orchestra and the Chamber Ochestra of Europe. Furthermore, he has played under the baton of renowned conductors such as Ricardo Muti, Loreen Maazel, Zubin Metha, Yuri Termikanov, Kurt Mazur, Charles Dutoit, Claudio Abbado, Valery Gergiev and Daniel Barenboim. Since 2004 Fabien has been principal oboe at the orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Beyond his career as a performing musician, he is also active as a teacher, and was nominated principal oboe teacher at the Lugano School of Music in 2001 and assistant teacher at the CNSM of Lyon in 2010. ŽARKO PERIŠIĆ

Žarko Perišić is born in 1967, in Split Croatia, where he finishes high schol musical education. In 1985, he enrolls Music Academy in Zagreb, and enters the class of Prof. Marijan Kobetić. As a student he has won several student competitions, as well as the 2nd prize at the Young Artists Competion as a bassoon soloist, and as a chamber musician (woodwind trio and woodwind quintett). He graduates in 1990 with excellence and was awarded with special award of the Dean of the Zagreb University. Later on, he studies in the class of Prof. Milan Turković, at the „Mozarteum" Salzburg untill 1992 when he joins the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Israel under Maestro David Shallon; as a coordinate first bassoonist untill 1996. He appears as a soloist with the *Les du Roi David*, Chamber ensemble of the Israeli Radio, and performs with ensembles like: *Van Leer ensemble*, Musica Nova, Caprisma ensemble, XXth century players, and appears in numerous recordings with the JSO - IBA. Upon returning to Salzburg, he performs as a solo bassoon with the Salzburger Kammerphilharmonie, and Camerata Salzburg, and continues studies at the Mozarteum Salzburg with Prof. Richard Galler. He also performs with the ÖENM ensemble, XXJH (20th century) and Klangforum, ; Gustav Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Chamber Orchestra of Europe. From 1997 – 2004 teaches Bassoon, Chamber music at the Academy of music in Novi Sad, Serbia and from 2004 till present at the Academy of music in Zagreb, Croatia, as a tenure professor. From 2012 until 2017 teaches at the Sarajevo music academy as a bassoon and chamber music professor. Since 2005. performs as a solo bassoonist with the Symphony orchestra of the Croatian radio and television. As a bassoon soloist performs with the Zagreb Philharmonic orchestra, Georgian Chamber orchestra Ingolstadt, Salzburger Kammerphilharmonie, Varaždin CO, Zadar PO, Split CO Symphony orchestra of the Croatian HRT, Zagreb Soloists, Croatian Chamber orchestra, with the string quartets Sebastian and Zagreb . He performs regularly at summer festivals in Osor, Zadar, Split, Dubrovnik, Bar, Budva , Ohrid, Salzburg.

ALIGI VOLTAN

He graduated cum laude at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory of Venice in 1990, later driven by his passion for the Baroque repertoire he specialized in performing with historical instruments. In 1995 he moved to Paris where he became the first bassoon of the Orchestra "La Grande Ecurie et la Chambre du Roy" by J.C.Malgoire and later by the Orchestra "Les Talens Lyriques" by C. Rousset, with whom he performed in the most important Theaters in France and in the main Baroque festivals in Europe, the United States and Australia. From 2004 to 2010 he held the role of first bassoon soloist at the Orchestra "La Chambre Philharmonique" by Emmanuel Krivine, with this team, specialized in the romantic repertoire, he carries out a dense recording activity for the Naïve record company (we remember among all the integral of Ludvig van Beethoven's symphonies and Dvořák's "New World" symphony). He was also the bassoonist of the "Astrèe" ensemble in Turin, with whom he completed an impressive recording project by recording the complete Chamber Concerts, Sonatas and Cantatas by A. Vivaldi preserved at the National Library of Turin, for Naïve- Opus111, recordings for which he has received praise from the critics of the most important specialized magazines. By recorded as solo bassoon the concerto KV 191 for the record company "Velut Luna" and the Sinfonia Concertante Kv 297b for "Harmonia Mundi". He was invited by 'the soloists of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra "for a tour with the 4th symph. Of G, Mahler version Simon, from the" Festival de Verbier "for the seventh of L. V. Serge HAERRIG studied oboe at the Conservatory of Strasbourg, his birthplace, at the age of ten, in the class of Pierre VENOT. Subsequently, he studied successively with Michel BENET, solo oboe in the Paris orchestra, then in Claude MAISONNEUVE's class, at Rueil Malmaison, where he obtained the first prize for virtuosity. Holder of the Certificate of Aptitude for Oboe Teaching, since 1985 he has been an oboe teacher at the Metz Conservatory. Whether in recital or within different orchestral groups, numerous concert tours have already taken him to Scotland, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Canada, United States ... However, it is to his class at the Metz Conservatory that he devotes most of his musical activities. The Lorraine public has often heard many of his arrangements and transcriptions during the frequent concerts given by “Les hautbois de Metz”. This group of students, placed under his artistic direction, covers a very wide repertoire, ranging from renaissance music to the contemporary period. Also a designer, Serge HAERRIG has produced, in collaboration with FUZEAU editions, many posters and illustrations for educational books intended for the teaching of music. In 2009, he organized the thirteenth congress of the Association Française du Hautbois in Metz.

ENRICO COSSIO

Enrico Cossio has been the Solo Oboe of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Orchestra since 2002. Graduated cum laude in modern and baroque oboe, he attended the masterclasses of world-famous oboists, such as Diego Dini Ciacci, Ingo Goritzki, Gordon Hunt, Paolo Grazia and Maurice Bourgue. During the three-year period 1997/2000 he attended the courses of Fondazione Toscanini of Parma under the guidance of Alberto Negroni and Paolo Pollastri, obtaining the Higher Education Diploma in Symphonic Orchestra (AFOS); at the same time he specialized in Chamber Music with the Bibiena Quintet at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, obtaining several awards, including the First Prize at the "AlpeAdria" Music Biennale, the Special Prize for the best interpretation of Contemporary Wind Music (1996) and the Second Prize at the International Music Competition of Acqui Terme (1998). In 2001 he obtained the Konzertdiplom in Oboe at the Musikhochschule in Lugano (CH), attending the class of Hans Elhorst. In the same year he was called by Maestro Claudio Scimone to fill the role of Solo Oboe in the prestigious Orchestra of "I Solisti Veneti". He has collaborated with numerous orchestras and opera organizations, including: Il Teatro "La Fenice" di Venezia, l'Orchestra della Radio della Svizzera Italiana, l’Orchestra Sinfonica dell’Emilia-Romagna "A.Toscanini", l'Orchestra Sinfonica della cittá di San Remo, "I Virtuosi Italiani", Il Teatro "Verdi" di Trieste, L'Orchestra Sinfonica "G.Verdi" di Milano, l'Orchestra del Teatro Regio di Parma. About ten original compositions for oboe have been dedicated to him by contemporary authors. He has performed in numerous important musical events such as the Ravenna Festival, Umbria Jazz, the concert season of the Teatro alla Scala, the Ljubljana Festival, Risuonanze Festival, the Venice Biennale. He has numerous CD recordings with both chamber and symphonic formations, recorded for the record companies Bongiovanni, Pilz, Ars Musica, Arts, Agorá, Rivo Alto and Real Sound. In 2017, for the Artesuono record company, he recorded the CD "La Banda" with saxophonist Francesco Cafiso. He has also recorded for RAI, RTV-Slovenija, ORF-Österreich, Rtsi-Radiotelevisione della Svizzera Italiana. FERDINANDO MUSSUTTO

Born in Udine in 1976, Ferdinando Mussutto graduated with full marks in piano at the age of 20 at the "J. Tomadini ”of Udine; subsequently he attended several master-classes for both the solo and chamber repertoire, perfecting himself with the Masters Panhofer, Rattalino, G. Lovato, D. Rivera, Fister, Porta and with the Trio di Parma. In 2001 he completed the two-year specialization course with Maestro Andrea Lucchesini at the Sesto Fiorentino Music School and the advanced chamber music courses at the Trieste Trio Music School in Duino (TS), under the guidance of the masters De Rosa, Zanettovich, Jones and Bronzi, obtaining the Diploma of Merit. He has been awarded in various national and international competitions, both solo and chamber, including the "C. Togni ”in Gussago (BS), the“ S. Omizzolo ”in Padua, the“ S. Marizza ”in Trieste, the“ G. Rospigliosi ”in Lamporecchio (PT) and the Agimus Competition in Rome. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, England, Belgium, Slovenia, Croatia, Spain, China, Paraguay and Venezuela, gaining acclaim from the public and critics everywhere. He has collaborated with numerous musical realities in Northern Italy and Carinthia including the "G. In 2009 he was invited to hold a piano masterclass at the Escuela “O. Lopez "in Caracas, while in 2010 he was awarded the" Carinthicum 2010 "prize by the Carinthia Artis Association (Koetschach, A) for his concert activity in Carinthia. He constantly explores musical genres outside the classical sphere, from contemporary music to contaminations, and in 2011 he recorded the CD "Intersections" for the ARTESUONO label in a duo with saxophonist Alex Sebastianutto, obtaining generous appreciation from specialized magazines in the sector. He is one of the founders of the "PIANO TWELVE" Ensemble, a group of 12 pianists that is enjoying considerable success, and with whom he has performed worldwide for RAI 1 SPORT. He carries out an intense concert activity that has seen him protagonist together with international artists including Annamaria Dell'Oste, Domenico Balzani, Luisa Castellani, Lucio Degani, Domenico Nordio, Marco Gerboni, Nicola Mazzanti, Massimo Mercelli, Roberto Fabbriciani, the Szabò Quartet , the Italian Saxophone Ensemble and the Tallin Sinfonietta.
