Her work is described as "A powerful dream vision--opulent, beatific... unforgettable"(The Masters), shaped by her unusual background, Vanity Fair says "Indrani's career is a fairytale that makes you dream." Born in Calcutta, India, in a crumbling palace, with a British mother volunteering for Mother Theresa, Indrani began traveling the world at 14 to learn from artists as a model/actress. At 18, she returned to India to co-found SEEschool.org a charitable education foundation to empower women and children. A magna cum laude graduate of Princeton University, while receiving a BA in Anthropology, she spearheaded the creation of a South Asian Studies Program, mastered digital art and developed her photography career with classical harpist Markus Klinko. While at Princeton, her work was discovered by David Bowie and fashion icon Isabella Blow, and the duo soon became in demand from the most prestigious clients worldwide. Since 2011 Indrani has expanded her work to directing live action films, commercials and music videos, while still working with Klinko on photographic collaborations by special request. DIRECTING Indrani's first short film won “Best Film,” “Best Director,” “Best Visual Effects,” “Best Fashion” and “The Red Camera Award” at the Fashion Film Festival at La Jolla, San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art. Starring model Daphne Guinness, and including a poem by Neil Gaiman, it's described as "A magical little film...Guinness shines in this tale of love, life and loss" (Huffington Post) and "A highly conceptualized interpretation... Guinness ignites a Gothic Chinese legend" (Tatler Hong Kong). "Digital Death" her campaign against AIDS raised over a million dollars in under a week and won two Gold Lions at Cannes 2011 for Keep A Child Alive/TBWA. Her short film "Girl Epidemic" is described as a "Wonderfully interesting story of the plight of girls, absolutely riveting, shocking and touching...Indrani's direction is brilliant and provocative!" (Forbes) and "Thrilling" (Perez Hilton.) Indrani's video for David Bowie's chart-topping Valentine's Day "Radiates intensity" (Rolling Stone) and is "Thrilling and intense" (NPR). Her video for Alicia Keys' New Day is "Bold and high-energy" (MTV). Shown at the Lincoln Center, the Museum of the Fashion Institute NY, The Pompidou Center Paris, and the Australian Center for the Moving Image among others. TV DOCU-SERIES Her work is the subject of a docu-series on Bravo, featuring Markus+Indrani's shoots with Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Naomi Campbell. The 6-hour series is syndicated to over 100 countries. PUBLICATIONS, EXHIBITIONS, CLIENTS A coffee table book of her work with Markus, ICONS, published by Running Press 2013, is described as "A visionary tour de force" (Elle) and "Wildly creative" (The Daily Beast) (see Icons Reviews). Her work has been published in over 20 books. A week-long exhibition at the Lincoln Center of ICONS in 2013, is one of 25 exhibitions of her work worldwide.
