RESUMO As narrativas metaficcionais, como assinalam teóricos como Waugh (1984), Bernardo (2010) e Hutcheon (1991) tendem a voltar-se para si mesmas, para seu próprio processo criativo, refletindo sobre o seu caráter de construção. O presente artigo visa analisar elementos metaficcionais no videoclipe Hands clean, da cantora canadense Alanis Morissette, utilizando ainda de forma subsidiária os conceitos de polifonia (BAKHTIN, 2002; STAM, 1992) e paródia, conforme visto em autores como Bakhtin (2010), Sant’Anna (1995) e Hutcheon (1985). No videoclipe, tais manifestações de autorreflexividade produzem discursos acerca da indústria da música, quebrando o ilusionismo narrativo e criticando o sexismo e o abuso presentes no contexto de produção fonográfica. Nosso olhar volta-se, assim, sobre os significados sociais produzidos no videoclipe a partir da associação entre música, letra e imagem.
