It doesn’t take long to walk to the Baker’s from my house because I live quite near, but the Butcher’s is really far away on the opposite side of town. I can’t go to the shops on Tuesdays because I go to the swimming pool with my younger brother who loves jumping in at the deep end and playing with the special toys they have. READING / DICTATION:

I had a friend at school who liked bringing different animals to class. One day he brought his big, hairy, pet spider called Sid. Our teacher taught us that animals have to live in their natural habitats, but Sid lived in a shoe box. When we went for lunch, my friend left Sid in his box on the teacher’s table. The teacher didn’t

know there was a Spider inside it and as soon as she opened the box, there was an awful noise. The teacher was afraid of Spiders and told my friend to take it into the garden immediately.

Lesson 34. TONGUE TWISTER 25 Lesson 35 WISH YOU WERE HERE

PAST PARTICIPLE /pɑːst pɑːˈtɪsɪpəl/ - participio pasado

Example: To arrive (llegar) arrived (llegué) arrived (llegado) Los verbos irregulares tienen distintos pasados y participios.

To see (ver) saw (vi) seen (visto) Usamos los participios con el tiempo verbal “Present Perfect”.

THE PRESENT PERFECT

The Present Perfect equivale al pretérito perfecto compuesto en español. La estructura es Have + Verbo (en participio)

Example: I have seen (he visto) “Have” es un verbo auxiliar así que lo usamos para hacer preguntas y negar. Have you seen? (¿has visto?) I haven’t seen (no he visto)

Infinitivo Pasado Participio pasado to be was/were been to go went gone to cut cut cut to buy bought bought

GIVE ME AN EXAMPLE OF THE PRESENT PERFECT PLEASE! HAVE YOU BOUGHT AN APPLE THIS WEEK? WHAT IS THE PAST PARTICIPLE OF TO BE / TO GO HAS HE/SHE CUT HIS/HER HAIR THIS MONTH? TO CUT / TO BUY? HAVE YOU BEEN TO MADRID? WHEN DID YOU GO?

26 Lesson 35. WISH YOU WERE HERE Note: • No decimos “he ido” en inglés con el verbo ir. Usamos “he estado” con el verbo estar. Ej. I have been to the shop (he ido a la tienda) y no I have gone

“I have been” significa que he ido y he vuelto y estoy hablando contigo.

Ej. Peter has gone to the shop (Peter ha ido a la tienda.. no está aquí)

Ej. Have you ever been to Disney Land? (¿alguna vez has estado..?)

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO LONDON/PARIS/MADRID…? HAVE YOU EVER CUT YOUR KNEE?

HAVE YOU SEEN TOY STORY 3/PINOCCHIO 2/THE LION KING? HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN A PLANE/TRAIN/BUS?
